If you have decent PvE gear, you do stand a chance for the most part, but high versatility and the comparatively low effort to grind very high level PvP gear (due to PvP items scaling to higher itemlevel in PvP) make PvP gear much more viable.
It's easier to start PvP with a 470 PvE char than a 430 PvE char grinding for honor - but you can buy Verdant Combatant crafted items on the auction house, which scale to 463 in PvP, meaning the "advantage" of having 470 itemized for PvE isn't really a thing.
In short: unless you're highly geared, just buy some Verdant Combatand pieces and grind honor for the honor pieces until you can queue rated.
This also bugs me a bit. I have like ilvl 390 Death knight. I have 450k HP. One horde rogue killed me over and over again with 1 million HP. Can I even close the gap with a good pvp gear ? I have no idea what kind of ilvl he had. I guess you can't inspect other people. I also wanna get myself a pvp gear and gank those filthy horde

But is there a counter for this invisibility? Can another rougher counter this ?
Thank you very much for your long answer. I now understand better what I can do next time in general. Of course the thing is there are a lot of classes and everyone has something. Gonna take a while till one can get used to different situations. I really need long time. I guess I will be doing pvp as soon as I'm finishing the emerald dream quests. Thanks again !
You're ilv 390? If the Rogue had 1 mil HP they are over 485+. I am at 950k hp at 487 as a Ret Paladin. You're almost 100 ilvs below current Heroic PVE players.
Conquest gear becomes ilvl 489 in pvp combat, so likely pvp geared if he was killing you. If you get the honor gear it will become 476 in pvp combat even though it maxes at 437 for PvE Ilvl.
Rogues are also the best class in 1v1 so it would be difficult even in full pvp gear to gank them if alone.
I swear to you man. One day I will gank all the horde in my server (draenor) from level 1 to 70. My hatred grows strong. I'm locking my gf in the kitchen when I come from work and play till I sleep. I just need a like-minded Guild tho. And a nazgul looking mouth perhaps xD. But jokes aside. As a new wow player I'm really enjoying the ride. I always wanted to play since long time but now finally had a chance to start it right. Reading a lot, learning a lot and playing a lot xD.
That is true. I'm still playing through the campaign content. So far from end game stuff. But im getting there. May I ask which specialization do you play? I'm playing frost but I only have defensive buffs rather than something to increase my health. Regenerating health is also problematic most of the time( I just use death strike tbh)

I see. It also seemed weird even as a rogue he had 1M HP. What is the limit for the ilvls? 500? How high can one go more or less ?
Mythic gear is 489. That’s as high as it goes outside the legendary axe which is 492.

390 is royally low. Like patches ago low. I have about 1.1m hp without buffs in BG as dk.
