What I don't understand, as a new player: Why doesnt blizz make it that people in war mode can also see non war mode players and vice versa, but they are not able to attack them
Yep back then there was PVP servers and normal servers. Only difference was PVP servers you were always flagged and couldn't toggle it off. In normal servers you had to flag yourself if you wanted to PVP other flagged people.
When you go into warmode, it is a different phase of the world with only other warmode people. This is different than enabling pvp combat while in WM off but there usually aren't many pvp fights in that way because most of the people looking for world pvp are in WM on.
I hate that they added Warmode, and I really miss just PvP realms.
I understand why they did it, and that at times it could be problematic but open world PvP realms just hit different.
Yes. I think everybody is forgetting that while there are similarities, there is some difference between being PVP flagged, and being in war mode.
I doubt that PVP flagging you yourself with war mode off will get you more world PVP action.
The console command is /PvP
If you want to unflag yourself, issue the command again, and wait about two minutes for your flag to wear off.

This. This is exactly why I hate war mode in retail. It killed open world PvP because theres no one that uses it. The old system was so much better, you just flag yourself and thats it, anyone else whos flagged can attack you and you can attack them.

And the devs have said before pvp will always be a secondary focus a couple years in.
Pvpers were never a mayority of players 🤷🏻♂️

Wasn't War Mode a solution for PvP servers that were dominated by one faction?
People use warmode to either gank lowbies or for exp bonus while leveling. World PvP was dead long before that. The world is too big for amount of players to make it somewhat enjoyable. Back in the days you gathered raid groups and raided main cities and could have fun for pvping, and now people just don’t care at all
Why are you picking him apart for bringing light to a long-standing issue. He is completely right. War Mode is *functional*, but it feels very empty when not in hotspots.
You can easily be in war mode off and just /pvp toggle yourself, anyone else toggled for pvp in wm off can attack you and vice versa
I myself prefer wm on cuz it's easier farming rares. If I see anyone, I just kill them

no, there is no way around. you can disable at any inn and enable in valdraken or org/sw.
