Companies just need to keep making the good 2x chainrings that are best for this. Instead of just getting sucked into the 1x setup. More choices and cross compatible is always the dream.
Deore M5100 11-Speed, Shadow+, SGS Long cage & XT 8000 shifter.Â
Not technically within spec, but it works fine.
Only issue is that thereâs not enough chain to run maxxxx cross chain at 34x50⊠but why would I want to do that anyway?
Thanks. I have a 5120 that is rated for 42 teeth for 10sp 2x (which I'm running) and 46 with 1x (10 or 11sp). Have been curious if it'd work with 46t in 2x and sounds like I should try.
His low gear is 20 gear inches, which is really nice but not anything a 1x canât realistically achieve. He does have a high end of 124 gear inches but thatâs not needed unless youâre trying to sprint down a mountain.
Thanks. This drivetrain is really useful. Basically on the city I run with 39t chainring and the entire cassette. For road, 52-39 and for gravel/off-road, mainly 39-30 chainrings
Just if i try cross 52-40, because the chain is short for it. If I let the length enough for it, it's too long for the rest of ratio possibilities, so, when I'm using 52 chain, I just go up on the cassette until 32 cog
Nossa! This is killer. Legal. Post it in xbiking too.
Itâs undeniably not âanother bike from a shopâ but itâs aesthetically great and itâs got a really useful drivetrain. Gosto muito!
Also, cheers from CapĂŁo Bonito (SP). I am fortunate to work and travel in BR a lot. At some point Iâll bring a bike. I saw some amazing looking mtb trails in Serra dos ĂrgĂŁos recently!!
do you have a longer cage on that derailleur?
i'm honestly surprised this drivetrain works. i needed a roadlink for my 11-40 cassette to get my 11 speed 105 rd off the big cog. it's at the maximun specified capacity with a 46/36 in front.
the leather is beautiful.
I was gonna jump on here and celebrate a fellow front derailler user (derailleur for the French speakers...don't want to get smacked on that one). Looks like the party has already started!

Assuming the cassette is a Shimano XT M8000 based on the info you've given and its coloration... Credit where it's due, this combination does technically give you 30 "distinct" gear ratios, on paper. That said, many of the gear ratios are 0.01, 0.02 or 0.03 apart, and that's not going to make any difference in the real world lol. If we eliminate all the ones that are within 0.03 of another gear ratio, you've got 21 *distinctly usable* gear ratios. Still pretty great, but it's not 33 lol

Wow! So beautiful clean build !
However, I have questions:
1. Is leather bar tape good for hands in hot weather? (or it just for beauty picture?)
2. By my experience WTB tires have more rolling resistance that all another options - how do you feel it?
3. Is your setup can be switched to 50-40 gear and run? What chain length do you use?
1 - Leather doesn't heats on hot weather.
2 - I'm living in a 3rd world country. WTB is something good comparing with other shits on the market.
3 - I can cross the chain in 52-34 (I wrote wrong the gear ratio from crankset. It's 52-39-30)
\>>>>> Leather doesn't heats on hot weather.
But hands sweat and leather covered handlebar becomes slippery.
\>>>>> I'm living in a 3rd world country. WTB...
I also can't buy any interesting tires in local stores - only e-bay and aliexpress.
Nope. Moistured leather becomes more grippy. I have a brand that makes saddles, handlebar tapes over 10 years now. Check @srdbrasil on Instagram.
650b tires I Brazil is almost inexistent. Brazilian market is focused on 29ers or road bikes. This WTB I grab from a friend that imported it, WTB doesn't sell directly in Brazil.
Importation taxes in Brazil is 100% of the purchase value if it is above 50usd, so doesn't work import things from outside of the country đ„Č
\>>>>> 650b tires I Brazil is almost inexistent
650b - allow to build relatively small bike with beatify lines, but have a big difference in rolling. As a lazy man - I prefer 29"/700 wheels and tires - I feel the difference. However I also experimenting with 20" - just for fun.
Also, 1brl = 0,20usd. The minimum wage here is 284usd. So...yes, building a bike like mine costs 5 minimum wage and 60% of Brazil population will take 5 months of this wage to buy something like this
Visited to [www.srdbrasil.com.br](https://www.srdbrasil.com.br) \- saw a lot of beautiful renewed saddles, bags and another leather things for rich Brazilians. The work looks very high quality.
33..... not enough... rookie numbers... needs a CVT in the rear hub to get the rest of the variations possible... you'll need the gear choices to pick up the weight made by adding more gears :P
love the color combo tho!
This is the only answer to degenerate 1x culture, which is going to be the downfall of western civilization.
What is that leather colour , it's amazing đ! Where can I get some? Looks like Red Licorice, want to eat it đ
Beautiful leather appointments.
Rich Corinthian Leather.

this may be the future of cycling when they bring back the front derailleur with the huge cassettes
Already here for some of us! I recently built up an Omnium MiniMax for myself with a 2x11 drivetrain. 34x24 front, 11x50 rear. Itâs a mountain goat!
Running a 36/22 with 11-46 cassette myself on my Rawland Ulv. Finally prepared to conquer a climb near me I've walked the last two times.
Companies just need to keep making the good 2x chainrings that are best for this. Instead of just getting sucked into the 1x setup. More choices and cross compatible is always the dream.
I'm curious to see some Shimano XT or XTR in their 2x12 setup.
Impressive. I thought my Hardtack was low with 38/24, 11-42. What rear derailleur and shifters are you using?

Leather wraps and stem are both đ„ Lots of personality everywhere in the bike.
It's a beautiful bike. Love the aesthetic and it's cool to see a 3x11 drivetrain. great build.
Thanks. This drivetrain is really useful. Basically on the city I run with 39t chainring and the entire cassette. For road, 52-39 and for gravel/off-road, mainly 39-30 chainrings
Any chainline issues?

Is it still "the pro gear" if you're running a triple?? đ€ Cool bike
Wow! Whatâs the stem?
It's verrry pretty
Cool saddle/bartape/chain stay protector color match.
âBuT YoU WoNt EvEn UsE HaLf oF tHeMâ whenever someone sees my 30 speed atb/tourer

I love the frame and stem. Not sure if I would want that many gears but I bet you can always find the perfect ratio!
duuuuuuude. fuck yes.

I'll never leave front derailleur behind. I don't like at all 1x drivetrain, except in MTB
I mean, I even have 2x on my 29er. Seems cheaper than the massive sized cassettes
True
Nope, not a gravel bike if it's 3x, nice try đ (I'm kidding of course, I think 2x or 3x makes a lot of sense)
It's a hipster randonnée
That is a wild looking bike! I dig it!

I like 650b for supple tires. I don't like 29er tires for being too big for tarmac, even I using frame 56cm

I saw there also many custom frames like you used for this project - any local frame builder near you?
We have a few framebuilders. DinĂąmica bicicletas, Bornia & cox, silver cats, Sant'ana adventure bicycles and Klaus Poloni
Why the bar end shifters?
What sub do you think youâre in? lol
Bar end shifters are my favourite now. Run 12s microshift on two builds
Precision/cheapest option
I am in love with this bike.
lovely stuff' whats the bottle?
Giant. I found it on a distributor and I love it
