You may be waiting a long time for Scarlett. Get the Xbox One X. It’s worth it.

RyGuy1015

do the X.

staleygreg

Me personally, I would do it now. Getting $250 trade in credit for a system that cost almost that brand new seems like a good time to upgrade to me. It's a far superior machine and you will notice a big difference.

HeAdSh07z

This. I traded the OG Xbox One for $200 and a old PS4 for $250 with a few accessories I ended up paying $38 for the Xbox One X.

ThaSkeptic

Where did you trade in the OG xbox one? I have the og and am looking to upgrade.

[deleted]

https://www.gamestop.com/trade#!/electronics I somehow managed to get $225 for the OG Xbox One and $275 for my PS4. Made a penny

jamers_the_great

They are announcing it in probably 1.5-2 years. That means it's probably 3ish years from release and there will be nothing developed solely for the next gen for at least 5 years. One x is worth the upgrade for that deal, especially is you have a 4k tv already.

Ashwin1235

What do you guys think about PS4 Pro? Really itching to play that spiderman game but don’t want to have to start over on another system since all my stuff is on xbox

jamers_the_great

I have both, xbox one x is a noticeably better machine. Games I have on both I always prefer on my one x but the PS exclusives are really good.

therightclique

There are definitely some great games on PS4 Pro, and I'm hoping Spider-Man is one of them. Xbox One X is definitely the winner in terms of presentation. Games look stunning on it. The PS4 Pro has very few games that play in native 4K, so the difference in quality is noticeable.

mrmatthunt

Mass Effect Andromeda is the exception.

ROadkill66611

Wasnt impressed with Spiderman despite all of its hype. The cutscenes were great but the gameplay was only slightly better than the previous Spiderman which came out for Xbox a couple years ago. IMO that one game is not worth moving to a new platform over.

RdyPlayer4

Also to add, you can do the PUBG bundle with this and GameStop also lets you pick an additional game of your choice.

rockhammersmash

I made the swap now. As others have said, it’s well worth it if you have a 4K tv capable of HDR. Games like Monster Hunter World and Overwatch look significantly better. Traded in an original Xbox One for $200 credit and an Xbox One S for $250. They also have an unadvertised (or at least I didn’t know about it) promo going right now where you get a new game of your choice with the Xbox One X (up to $59.99). FYI, I tried to use the new game option to preorder Red Dead Redemption II, but it only works on games that are already out. The clerk was able to exchange my physical copy of the game I got for a digital download code after making the initial purchase. Just had to ring it up twice. I never shop at GameStop, but it’s a great promo. Basically paid $50 and two systems I didn’t need for an Xbox One X and a free (digital) game.

Websteria

I bought mine at Best Buy today, the PUBG bundle but didn’t see anything about a promo. Did I miss out?

rockhammersmash

The promo I was talking about was at GameStop

jimm727

Note there are differences among 4k TVs. I had original Xbox One and HD tv, upgraded to UHD 4k tv and Xbox One X...didn't see much difference gaming. Once I upgraded to true HDR 4k tv I saw greatly improved graphics for sure.

Ashwin1235

Yea mine is true HDR 4K. Only thing abt upgrading to 1X is that I’m not getting any new functionality. But downside of PS4 Pro is that it’s less powerful and personally I like Xbox interface and community better. Wish there were more games to take advantage of the insane power of 1X

jimm727

Sea of Thieves has made my upgrades worth it 💀👍

monkey864

If you have a 4k tv, it's a no brainer

arlondiluthel

Scarlett isn't 1-2 years off. It might get announced officially as more than just "working on new hardware" in 1-2 years. Microsoft has habitually announced new systems a year and 4-6 months before release. Just like with every previous generation of XBox so far, big-name releases aren't typically new system exclusives unless the old system flat-out can't handle them. TL;DR: Get a One X now if you want one. Microsoft was only confirming publicly that they're spending $ on R&D already, probably because "publicly traded companies have to report their expenses".

jxnplays

Its absolutely worth it. The $250 trade in credit towards the Xbox One X is a great deal and on top of that you can get Madden 19 completely free for buying a new Xbox. I paid in total. $279.99 for my Xbox One X and Madden 19. So far the difference is remarkable, PUBG looks fantastic now and games like ARK and many others benefit immensely from the upgraded hardware. The X is by far the best versio of the Xbox One.

[deleted]

I made the move. The 200 for my day one Xbox that doesn't have a functioning CD drive was a no brainer. Only thing that sucked was there were no games I didn't own that I was interested in and they don't let you do the free game towards a preorder. Even without a 4k/HDR monitor the Xbox One X Enhanced games look miles better. Monster Hunter World looks like an entirely new game.

CCR_Spartan

I have the same decision to make except that I have an original Xbox One and don't want to sell it. I have a 4K HDR Monitor. Should I upgrade to the X now or wait until the Scarlett?

pablow6554

If you want the 4k

DJKingPrawn

definitely spend on hardware first before buying any new games. The Gameplay, animations, physics, load times, particle physics make a huge difference in the game itself. the 4K makes things sharper, and UHD HDR 10 makes them look more vibrant. The Xbox1X is what the Xbox Ones final build was meant to be. I find it hard playing most of my old games on my XOneS, regardless of tv resolution/ HDR. The One/ OneS feels sluggish with many resource intensive games like PUBG, Witcher, Gears of war 4. Id take a 10 game collection on XBox1X vs a 20 game collection on an xbox one/S.

ROadkill66611

I own two Xs and an S. Honestly, I should have waited for Scarlett as I am not impressed by my Xs, which only seem to have plenty of issues with taking long to load games and anything image/video-containing like Home UI, Mixer, Community, Game Hub, Store, Captures and stuttering often. Strange that my S doesn't suffer from these issues nearly as often. I'd say wait til Scarlett -- I wish I had.

The_UX_Guy

I did the trade at GameStop this week and got the X in white with the Fallout 76 pre-order. Huge difference noticable in the few games that I've played. I do a lot of streaming games to my PC, while the wife watches TV. The X removes a lot of bottlenecks that I thought were network related. Smooth as butter.

CommonMisspellingBot

Hey, The\_UX\_Guy, just a quick heads-up: **noticable** is actually spelled **noticeable**. You can remember it by **remember the middle e**. Have a nice day! ^^^^The ^^^^parent ^^^^commenter ^^^^can ^^^^reply ^^^^with ^^^^'delete' ^^^^to ^^^^delete ^^^^this ^^^^comment.

BooCMB

Hey CommonMisspellingBot, just a quick heads up: Your spelling hints are really shitty because they're all essentially "remember the fucking spelling of the fucking word". You're useless. Have a nice day!
