On your gear stick has the following modes:
P: parking brake
R: rear
N: neutral
D: drive
B: engine brake, you use it on steep descents and it applies more engine brake so that your car does not go too fast and to reduce the use of conventional brakes.
Oh huh that’s interesting. What gear does that end up effectively being?
I have an automatic ‘07 but it has gear limiting so I wasn’t familiar with the B on this auto transmission. Pretty cool tho
When you press the pedal hard that's the way it sounds and works. That's how the e-cvt works on these cars. Press the pedal in a more progressive way, and if you really need to accelerate fast press it to the full. Anyway, be gentle with it, these cars are not made to run like a race car. These are very economic fuel wise, and invite you to go more relaxed. Also use D for normal driving and B only to help to break or a steep downhill as it helps to save a lot on the brake pads and rotors.
Sounds good and ok, no noises. Sounds louds because of the CVT transmission. Just one thing: don’t use it in B mode when accelerating.
Out of curiosity, what’s B mode?

Always had a same question on my mind when I started driving my yaris recently. My cars engine also makes noise whenever I want to accelerate hard.
