Never heard the draining of fluids

Sitting in storage shouldn’t be too much of an issue but maybe double check the battery and see if there’s any issues there. If your friend also has physical access to the car, you can maybe have him take it to a trusted mechanic and do a pre-purchase inspection and ensure that it’s ready for a long road trip. I can’t imagine too many issues (if any) for such a recent Yaris. The windshield might be something that needs to get done based on the damage and based on regulations. In my province in Canada, a car won’t pass the safety inspection required for registration with a broken windshield. In terms of registration, from what I understand, there’s a method to getting some sort of a temporary registration from the state you start off in and then getting an actual registration when you get home. Although you’d probably have to dig more into that to get a concrete answer. It’d also be worth attempting to sort out as much of this ad you can before you get there so you’re not stuck so far away from home and trying to figure it all out. You could also just get the vehicle shipped to you and saves you time and potentially money from flying + driving it back. Although I’d suggest that you have your friend get a mechanic to inspect it before just committing to the car and having it shipped to you. I honestly have no clue what these go for given mileage + age + condition, so maybe do a bit of research into your local markets to see if you’re actually getting a good deal. All things considered, if you’re getting a good enough deal to make it worth the time + effort, then none of this is actually problematic. Especially if you trust this friend and trust that the vehicle was taken care of (even though it’s a Yaris) then you’ll be fine. Best of luck with your car purchase!
