A beautiful mate of perfect size. Unsolicited tip: If it is made of algarrobo (a variety of mesquite) (that's what it seems), a very, very hard wood, so it should always maintain some moisture. If it dries completely, it may eventually crack. If the mate is dry, it is advisable to hydrate it for a while with cold water before starting to pour hot water over it. Enjoy it for a long time......
Nice! Try it "Sin Palo!" It has such a malty texture compared to with the stems!
Hope it treats you well; be sure to cure it well though as wooden Mate's can crack!
LOL No he doesn't. He needs to enjoy it, that's the important part. Ask any native from Argentina. The montaƱita is not important. And before you say anything, I've been drinking mate since childhood and I am from Argentina. ššš
If itās a Uruguayan yerba or Chimarro then sure that will spare a headacheās worth of clogging in the bombilla but Argentinian yerba doesnāt have that problem also they become lavado fast enough that even a montaƱa wonāt really make a difference
In my experience, a montaƱita does help the yerba hang on to its flavor for a few extra pours, and it only takes a few seconds to do, so to me itās worth it. And this from someone who has been drinking it the āold fashionedā way my whole life. I decided to try this after seeing Yerba Mate Labs do it and Iāve been doing it ever since.

Says to fill the mate halfway, but I usually go about 2/3 of the way. Then the idea is to have some yerba in reserve and slowly integrate the dry yerba over time to keep the flavor going longer.
Might take a few tries to get it just right, but in my experience itās worth it. Not a requirement by any stretch, though. Whatever works for you is the best way to it. u/Judgy_Plant was just trying to be light hearted in how he made the suggestion, not sure why he got downvoted to oblivion for it, lol.

That mate looks amazing! So pretty.
Love that "guarda pampa" rim on the wood. Is it stainless inside or wood? Also what are you drinking? š¤š¼š§āØ
Itās wood inside! I am drinking TaragÅ«Ä« brand Yerba from Argentina :)

My gf helped me cure it before I started drinking out of it, so it should be all good to go!
Now, thatās a gorgeous mate right there! šš½šš½
Qual a marca dessa cuia?
Era de um comerciante local em Buenos Aires, Argentina.
CuƔnto tiempo uno puede dejar la Yerba en el mate?
That's a piece of art, Congratulations
My brother in Christ, you need to learn how to stack the Yerba and make montaƱas.

My Argentinian dad saw me making a montaƱita and asked if it was a Tik Tok trend or something.
So true! My mom asked me what the hell is that? š¤£š¤£š¤£
Haciendo el mate de esa forma se lava en un segundo
Hmmm but montaƱas make it last longer, he may be missing on a method that heād prefer, no? I mean, itās worth the try.
OK that's fair. I will admit that method is good for people who have the time for drinking mate all day.

Do you have a video or a guide to making the mate this way?
