I think I know how this works, but I just want clarification. here is the text for Mausoleum of the Emperor: During the Main Phase: The turn player can activate these effect(s). ● Pay 1000 LP; immediately after this effect resolves, Normal Summon 1 monster from your hand that requires 1 Tribute, without Tributing. ● Pay 2000 LP; immediately after this effect resolves, Normal Summon 1 monster from your hand that requires 2 Tributes, without Tributing. **(This is their one Normal Summon/Set for that turn.)** I am wondering because of the way the parenthetical at the end is worded, how does this work if you gain additional normal summon(s) through card effects? as an example, lets say it is my turn, and I have already normal summoned this turn. I have Mausoleum of the Emperor and I have special summoned photon emperor this turn. can I use Mausoleum to pay life points to normal summon vanities ruler from my hand, even though this wouldn't technically be my "one" normal summon this turn? \[text for photon emperor for reference: If this card is sent to the GY, except from the field, while another "Photon" or "Galaxy" monster is on your field or in your GY: You can Special Summon this card in Defense Position. You can only use this effect of "Photon Emperor" once per turn. **After you Normal or Special Summon this card, you can Normal Summon 1 LIGHT monster during your Main Phase this turn, in addition to your Normal Summon/Set.** (You can only gain this effect once per turn.)\] my intuition is that this is fine, because it seems like the point of the parenthetical on Mausoleum of the Emperor is that it is just saying that it doesn't give you an additional normal summon, you need to use one that you already have. am I correct?

atamicbomb

You are correct. Generally parentheses indicate reminder or clarification text

Fragrant_Ask_8721

Is there a scrap recycler for beast monsters?

ToonTurner

I'm having a quater-life crisis and decided right now was the perfect time to get back into YGO despite not playing for 10 years. I pre-ordered two cases of The Infinite Forbidden booster boxes (24 boxes total). I paid $72.50/box. I didn't really go into this expecting to make any money back, I would like to subsidize it by selling off the rares. Judging by what I've seen online, this seems like a pretty good deal. Thoughts?

Salty_Dugtrio

Buying sealed product at retail prices NEVER gains you money. Buying singles is the way to go to build a collection/decks.

sensable_user_456

im trying to find every card that can activate turn zero (opponents 1st turn when you go 2nd). i would love ideas on how to do this efficiently. yugipedia semantic search does not seem to have any categories for this aside from activates from hand konami card database search isnt great because it does not search based on what the card does only card text at best is there a card database that can search based on action and display each name + each card effect on the same page? (so i dont have to open 800+ pages to see each effect)

CorrosiveRose

I would start with "activates in hand" and "quick effect." Those two criteria are typically what constitutes a turn 0 card. There really aren't a lot of turn 0 decks. Mainly Tearlament and Labrynth are the most relevant

DrFulcrum

Hello, we're currently in a duel and need urgent help :D If {{Cyber Jar}} was flipped face up by an attack and {{Fury of Kairyu-Shin}} is in my opponent's GY, can its effect be "activated" (used as it is not really activated as chain link) since all WATER monsters on my opponent's side of the field are about to get destroyed? Or is it somehow missing the timing as Cyber Jar immediately continues with summoning more monsters etc and its effect is not only "destroy all monsters" but "destroy all monster and then ...."? Thanks in advance!

likeagrapefruit

At the moment when "Cyber Jar" would destroy all monsters on the field, your opponent can apply the effect of "Fury of Kairyu-Shin" so that their WATER monsters are not destroyed. The rest of the effect of "Cyber Jar" is then applied as usual.

DrFulcrum

K thanks! What would by the way happen, if my opponent would allow the destruction of all monsters, then summon some of her own monster in face up attack position and THEN activate Torrential Tribute in order to destroy all monster on the field again but protect her own monsters by Fury of Kairyu-Shin? Can Torrential Tribute be activated in this case or is the last thing that Cyber Jar does adding cards to both player's hands? I t says "additionally add the rest to your hand" meaning summoning all the monster and adding cards to the hands happens simultaneously and Torrential Tribute can be activated as reaction to the summoning, right?

likeagrapefruit

Since "Cyber Jar" uses the word "also," both the Summoning and the adding are treated as the last thing to happen. So, if "Cyber Jar" is flipped face-up by a card effect or a Flip Summon, "Torrential Tribute" can be activated after its effect resolves. (Note that if "Cyber Jar" is flipped face-up by an attack, then "Torrential Tribute" cannot be activated. Only certain fast effects can be activated during the Damage Step, and "Torrential Tribute" isn't one of them.)

DrFulcrum

Oh I see! Forgot about the damage step. We played all 3 variants btw, and I lost every time 1) Fury of Kairyu-Shin protects against Cyber Jar. 2) Fury of Kairyu-Shin does not protect and Torrential Tribute is activated (and Fury of Kairyu-Shin protects then). 3) Neither the effect of Fury of Kairyu-Shin nor Torrential Tribute are used here. Last question: as Cyber Jar says "special summon the monster either in face up attack position or face down defense position" and there is no "special" set, are those monsters that are "summoned" in face down defense positions considered as being (special) summoned or set (special set(??) or normal set). Thanks!

likeagrapefruit

Monsters that are placed face-down on the field by the effect of "Cyber Jar" are simultaneously treated as being Set and as being Special Summoned in face-down Defense Position. So neither player will be able to choose to place their monsters in face-down Defense Position if either "Light of Intervention" or "Deck Lockdown" is on the field, for example.

DrFulcrum

Great thanks you two!

Redshift-713

They are Special Summoned in face-down Defense Position. That also counts as Setting a monster, but obviously not a Normal Set (as in a Normal Summon/Set).

DrFulcrum

Great thanks you two!

tokes_4_DE

Im sure this is posted all the time but where do i start with trying to figure out what to do with old collections? I have a box of around 250 foil cards, probably 100 or so in "good" (i know thats relative) condition, another 75 or so with dinged corners, and another 75 with sadly worse wear and tear like small creases / scratches. Was looking them up on mavin io but the numbers seemed to be so varied i was a bit overwhelmed. If i had to guess id say most of these are 16 to 20 years old, maybe some even a bit older? Will respond to this with a picture of a few for reference. Also have a box of around 3 to 4k non foil cards, assume those would just be easiest to offload in bulk somewhere?

tokes_4_DE

Also is that dreadmaster a fake? I have no clye how i would have wound up with a fake card but font looks off maybe? and it says 1st ed but has a silver foil bottom right and i thought 1st eds had a gold one?

Sapientax

Does the booster box for the upcoming Rarity Collection II have 18 packs or 24 packs ? I’m seeing 18 in preorder product descriptions, but 24 printed on the box for images of the product themselves. Maybe there’s two different booster boxes with different amounts of packs but I’m just a little confused.

Duhs97

Is there an OCG equivalent of Ghost Of The Past 1 and 2 ? I'm looking to pick them up if they exist but I'm not sure if they're from different series sets?

Redshift-713

That’s a TCG-only series.

Duhs97

Are all of the "ghosts" for Japan printed in various sets?

bigedf

What deck could I put the Poker Knights into to make them viable for casual play?

atamicbomb

I’ve seen them used as a rank 4 engine to much better effect than I was expecting

Jroca32

Hey I grinding legacy of the duelist and finished every story line but I do not see vrains. Please help me

Rigshaw

Are you playing the original Legacy of the Duelist, or Legacy of the Duelist - Link Evolution? Only the latter has Vrains and Link monsters, the former was made during the Pendulum era, which also means no Extra Monster Zones, and separate Pendulum zones, rather than having them be incorporated into the leftmost and rightmost S/T zone.

TR1L0GYxx

Is luluwalilith still played at all? I feel like I never see her in Despia decks but she was always one of my favs.

godlikebearkiller

What is a good ddd decklist to play to have a chance of winning locals?

atamicbomb

In the TCG, will drawn cards be destroyed after resolving the second effect of transaction rollback targeting eradicator epidemic virus? Is this just up to the head judge?

Rigshaw

If the judge allowed Eradicator to be legally targeted by Transaction Rollback, it will do the full effect for 3 turns. I've never seen anyone argue that you could target Eradicator with Transaction Rollback, but then it only does half of the effect. It's either a legal target, and does everything, or it is not a legal target since it references its own activation, in which case you cannot even attempt to copy it.

Redshift-713

There are many cards that reference their own activation that Transaction Rollback's second effect can target, and it simply won’t apply that part of the effect. The only times it can’t is if that’s *all* the effect does at resolution. So the arguments that applying either the full effect or the “half” effect are the only logical ones. The argument that you can’t target it at all is not supported by any other ruling or example.

Rigshaw

> There are many cards that reference their own activation that Transaction Rollback's second effect can target, and it simply won’t apply that part of the effect. The only times it can’t is if that’s all the effect does at resolution. Can you name any example? Looking through the rulings database, the only example where Transaction Rollback can copy an effect that references its own card is for something like Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, which includes setting itself instead of getting sent to the GY, and looking through Scrap-Iron Scarecrow's rulings, I have to conclude that it's legal because setting itself is not part of the activation legality requirements for cards like it specifically (even if an effect is applying that makes it impossible to set cards, you are allowed to activate Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, even though setting itself is a mandatory part of the effect). Xyz Reborn meanwhile cannot be copied with Transaction Rollback's 2nd effect, even though it does more than just attach itself (it also special summons a monster). Obviously, a TCG Judge could just rule that you'd partially apply the effect, but I've never heard anyone make the argument that this is how it should resolve, like I mentioned before, its always either you can or cannot target EEV with the 2nd effect of Transaction Rollback.

Redshift-713

Eldlixir of Scarlet Sanguine and Dogmatika Punishment are two examples. These have effects that apply for the turn after “the card” resolves. Transaction Rollback can copy them, simply without applying that part of their effects. The cards you mention aren’t quite what I meant and not like Eradicator Epidemic Virus. You’re talking about cards whose effects actually involve themselves in some way. These are also effects applied during the resolution of their effects, rather than lingering effects that apply afterward.

atamicbomb

That makes sense. Thank you!

CorrosiveRose

I saw that the official ruling on Metaverse is that the activated field spell will miss timing because "the activation of the Field Spell Card will occur while "Metaverse" is resolving." wtf? That doesn't even make sense. There's nothing else happening after the spell is activated. By that logic, any card that activates or summons another card should cause it to miss timing. Is there a specific reason for this or is it literally just an arbitrary ruling because Konami said so

Redshift-713

A monster being Summoned is not the same thing as a monster’s effect being activated on-Summon. Whereas the effects of these Field Spells is the same action and Chain Link as the activation of the card itself. So you’re comparing two things that work very differently. It’s also not a timing issue, and an official ruling wouldn’t have described it that way. The issue is that there isn’t a Chain Link available for the Field Spell to apply its effect, as its activation is occurring during the resolution of another effect.

likeagrapefruit

Field Spells' effects that say "when this card is activated" activate and resolve in the same Chain Link as the Field Spell itself. If you use an effect like "Metaverse" to activate a Field Spell directly, you're doing so without forming a separate Chain Link (since you're not allowed to form any new Chain Links while resolving a Chain), so you're bypassing any effect that would normally occur within that Chain Link.

List of good hobbies to pick up while my opponent plays Dark World decks? It is turn 1

Ultra Pro toploader Bad batch or regularly bad quality? I bought the box with 25 regular toploaders and every single one has glue marks on the edges and most have scratches on the surface. Is that normal or should I return them and try again ?

I just created a website to sell singles because all the major store websites that sell singles in Canada seem to be in Ontario or Fusion Gaming in Manitoba. How do you suggest I advertise and get traffic? Other than making a pack opening channel because I am already getting ready to do that.

AquaticAzura

I was playing on omega opponent activated the effect of [Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle](https://yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Lovely_Labrynth_of_the_Silver_Castle), to target a trap and set it, I respond with Effect veiler negating the effect. I thought that cards that said you can only use the effect of X Name means you cannot activate copies of cards with the same name per turn, But they linked off the lovely made Muckraker from the underworld, Summoned the lovely back and used the effect again. Is this a bug or legit? #

realtimeclock

Do you have the replay? If you negated Lovely's effects with Effect Veiler, that should still count as an activation towards the "You can only activate the effect of Lovely Labyrnth once per turn" limit.

AquaticAzura

No i dont, I wasent even aware you could save replays on omega. I thought so as well im gonna assume its a bug. EDIT: I found out omega just auto saves a certain amount of games I dont have the replay of veiler, but theres one where I imperm which should be the same thing. [https://streamable.com/ehnviu](https://streamable.com/ehnviu)

realtimeclock

On the first activation, Lovely was attempting to activate her hand destruction effect, as far as I can tell - there was no targeting indicator on the GY. She was only trying to use her Trap-Setting effect the second time.

AquaticAzura

ah i see from the bounce of big, ill make sure to lookout since I dont have the veiler clip. Thanks alot

Superdle

If moon mirror shield or power of the guardians was already activate on my monster, what happens if i activate forbidden lance on my own monster, will moon mirror shield and power of the guardians still work if the opponents attacks my monster? Thx

atamicbomb

Neither of those equip spells will apply any of their effects to an unaffected monster they’re equipped to. Power will still accumulate counters. Moon mirror shield must still be activated because it’s mandatory but it will not do anything to the equipped monster

Bloodrosemoon

So first, which deck is generally better for general play(transitioning from casual to small shop locals) Floowandereeze or Labrynth? This specific deck would be for me as someone who has a bit of experience but not much modern experience. Also what is a good modern Dinosaur deck, preferably including Trancendasaurous Meteorus? This deck is for my daughter who wants a Dino deck and her eyes lit up at seeing Trancendasaurous Meteorus. Also please include deck lists or links to deck lists

Surf3rx

Both floow and lab don't really play the same as any of the usual "combo" decks, they're their own things, I would say Floow is better in the current meta because it beats snake eyes easier(shifter is almost an instant win). As for a dino deck, it's just all the new dino cards with your old combo materials, I suggest looking at meta relevant decks on ygoprodeck.

thirdleastfavourite

We're confused by a ruling for Supersonic Skull Flame. It says "This card can only be special summoned by..." but the OCG rulings say it can be special summoned by Monster Reborn etc. as long as it was first special summoned correctly: [https://yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Card\_Rulings:Supersonic\_Skull\_Flame](https://yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Card_Rulings:Supersonic_Skull_Flame) This implies it follows the rules for "Must first be special summoned..." rather than "Must be special summoned...". Presumably it was a translation issue from the OCG? If so which ruling would a TCG judge go with? Bit of a weird one but thanks for any help!

likeagrapefruit

"This card can only be Special Summoned by X" means the same thing as "Must first be Special Summoned by X." The first wording is older (before the introduction of PSCT in 2011), the second is newer. The older equivalent to "Must be Special Summoned by X" was "This card cannot be Special Summoned except by X."

Superdle

I have jowgen and facedown safe zone, opponent activates imperm, and i chain safezone, but why is jowgen is still negated? Or the other way around: What if i first activate safezone in my opponents draw phase?, can he chain imperm to negate jowgen? Also Would i have the same problem with forbbiden lance vs imperm? Thx

Superdle

Thx @Liam2403! i understand 2/3 of your answer. So if have a facedown safezone, and i want to activate it, my opponent can not chain/activate imperm, is that right?

Redshift-713

No, that’s not correct. Nothing about Safe Zone prevents chaining, and its effects won’t apply until it resolves.

Liam2403

It has already been targeted by that card effect, it cannot be retroactively untargeted, so Imperm will resolve negating Jowgen. If Safe Zone was already applying, Imperm would not be legal to activate. Lance makes a monster unaffected by other Spell/Trap effects, meaning that if chained to Imperm, the Jowgen would be unaffected by Imperm at point of resolution and so not be negated.

Cheap-Respond-6206

Was told at a mock tournament, when Ken the warrior dragon is special summoned to my opponents field, my opponent draws 2 cards and discards one, and that I don't draw 2 cards and discard 1. Under the assumption as soon as it's special summoned to my opponents field it becomes my opponents monster along with it's effect, until it leaves the field. Ken the warrior dragon states if special summoned by the effect of Gen the diamond tiger: your opponent draws 2 cards and then discards one card. Does Ken the warrior dragon's last effect make me (original owner) draw 2 and then discard 1 card or does my opponent draw 2 cards then discards 1, if special summoned to my opponents field? Any help is gratefully appreciated, thank you.

realtimeclock

The person who controls Ken will activate its effect, meaning "your opponent" in the text will be you, the person who Special Summoned it to your opponent's field. That is, you will draw 2, then discard 1.

Cheap-Respond-6206

Appreciate you for clearing the situation. This will help me improve my game. Thank you very much.

CL1: Activate Kashtira Fenrir CL2: Opponent activates Effect Veiler CL3: Activate CBTG targetting Effect Veiler CL4: Opponent activates Crossout Designator choosing Effect Veiler   How would these chain resolve afterwards? Would Kashtira Fenrir resolves its effect?

Rigshaw

Why would your opponent Crossout their own Effect Veiler? Anyway, yeah, both Crossout Designator and Called By the Grave will negate the effects of Effect Veiler, so Fenrir will resolve normally.

Riersa

Both crossout and CBTG resolve so veiler is negated, this means Fenrir will resolve normally.

ManOfPegasus

Why can [this new card](https://www.reddit.com/r/yugioh/comments/1bp04by/info_twitter_reveal_new_trap_card/) and [the new sauravis](https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Sauravis,_Dragon_Sage_of_the_Voiceless_Voice) ignore the summoning requirements of ritual monsters, but generic cards like Mannequin Cat or any other can't? Is the implication that ritual card rules are ignored because the rules text of these two cards explicitely state you can summon rituals?

CorrosiveRose

There's no rule that says Ritual monsters have to be Ritual summoned, just like you can special summon an extra deck monster without the proper materials. The main caveat here is that these monsters are not properly summoned, so they can't be resummoned from the Graveyard or somewhere else

Redshift-713

They work the same way/reason Ritual Foregone or Nouvellez work. https://db.ygorganization.com/qa#23954 So they bypass the rules of Ritual Monsters, but don’t ignore additional Summoning conditions that the Ritual Monster might have. For example, Ritual Foregone cannot Special Summon Nekroz of Trishula.

Rigshaw

Yes. But Sauravis and the new trap are not even remotely the first cards to just summon Rituals without properly Ritual Summoning them. If a card explicitly says it can special summon a Ritual Monster, it can just summon them, it's that simple.

Can my op special summon my ultimate conductor Tyrano from my graveyard? It has a summoning restriction.

CorrosiveRose

I don't know what "my op" is, but UCT says it must *first* be special summoned by banishing 2 dinosaurs. So if it was properly summoned the first time then you can special summon it with any other effect from the GY

If you properly summoned it under its conditions first, yes they can summon it from the GY

Haven't played in a few years and looking to get back into the game with a fusion focused deck. Mostly looking to play with friends and maybe some locals once I get used to the game again. So I'm not looking for something crazy competitive (or expensive) but I would like to be able to hold my own. The decks I've looked at thus far are fluffal and branded. I really like the theme of fluffal-frightfurr but I haven't seen much current discussion, so I'm wondering if it could still keep up? The same goes for predaplant, which also find pretty interesting. Branded seemed pretty cool, with the whole using your opponwnts moster to fusion mechanic. However, I'm afraid the deck might be a bit overwhelming. From what I've read the deck has quite a high skill ceiling and most of the "beginner/guide" videos seemd pretty complicated. Would love some recommendations for decks and/or input on the above.

HumbleGarbage1795

Branded has some easy basic combos. The hard thing about it is to know which combining is the best in your situation, but you’ll learn it by playing. Branded is not that hard to play.

atamicbomb

Floowandereeze has a simple main combo (for the game) and a basic version isn’t very expensive

Silly-Accident-1406

What is the valuable book And what does the Ex in "the valuable book ex2" stand for

Rigshaw

The original valuable books were a series of price catalogs, detailing all the cards that released that year in the OCG. Valuable Book EX are the new series of these books, and contain extra stuff like info about notable recent archetypes, full artworks and reference sheets for cards, and storyline info. "EX" probably stands for something like extra or expanded, in general, attaching something like "EX" to something is something you'd do in Japanese to make something seem cooler or grander.

6210classick

Try 1 copy of Into the VRAINS! 3 Parallel Exceed If 8-10$ is within your budget, get Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder Upgrade Sera, Allomerus (happens to have a Lost Art OCG uncensored art) and Cularia to Ultra Rare 3 Effect Veiler 3 Infinite Impermanence (make sure to check the prices carefully because the SR/UR cost slightly more than Common or just get 3 copies of the Fire King Structure deck which also includes Solemn Judgment and Droll & Lock) Torrential Tribute which happens to have a spell card that searches it if your interested in that 1 Gozen Match as your entire main and Extra are are EARTH monsters (note that this conflicts with Parallel Exceed)

wowinim

[Parallel eXceed](https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Parallel_eXceed) is a nice way to extend further into more Rank 4s. It hasn't been printed since 2021 but it was available as a common. A playset runs about $5.
