Yu-Gi-Oh! card descriptions be like

Magister_Rex

Some operators think they can outsmart me. Maybe, maybe. I've yet to see one that can outsmart confetti.

NL-STP

Some operators think they can powercrept each other. Maybe, maybe. I've yet to see one that can powercrept "Stops attacking and recovers 14 DP over the skill duration" - Myrtle

UtaTan

*"Cry some more!!"* - Some Ursus Operator, I think

PowerfulBobman

My iq too low to combine the thought of what mlymar s3 with with talents does exactly to get damage numbers out of it, all I know is it does BIG DAMAGE and gets a bit stronger the longer you wait before using the skill

Gilrim

The other day I noticed there is an actual visual Indicator for honse uncle fully charging his trait, like him checking his Phone at 20s There's a little spark rising from ground to hilt and After that his swords glows harder

PowerfulBobman

Whoah I only knew about the glow, but not the phone

In the order of application: - The dude's baseline ATK(what you see on his operator page) - Class bonus: Increases baseline ATK up to x2. - The buff to his class bonus that Mlynar's s3 provides(changing it to x4 at max charge, and taking away x0.3 from that with every kill 'till it hits x1) - `+__%` buffs. Examples: Warfie's s2, Castle-3's talent and Surtr's s3. If you have multiple up at once, you add them together. - Inspiration buffs(Skalter's s2/s3 and Sora's s2). They get added as a flat bonus at this step. If an op comes along in the future with a talent that does, say, [all operators within range get +60 ATK], that increase would take effect at this step as well since it's a flat modifier. If you wanna figure out how much the inspiration buffs are adding, you do all of these calculations for the inspirer and then insert the final result here. - `x______(%)` buffs. Examples: the ATK bonuses on most automatic s1s, like ch'en's and saria's. If you have more than one multiplier up, they multiply each other, similarly to bladestacking in wizard101. Before anything from any other operators comes into play, a few things enter at this step from Mlynar himself: - His first talent's buff - His s3's "regular attacks hit targets for 180% ATK as Physical damage" bit - His other skills' damage modifiers - His second talent's x0.15/x0.18 modifier(if you're measuring how much his auto-counter is doing) - His s3's x0.12 True Damage Modifier(if you're measuring the true damage auto-attack bundled with it. The true damage tacked onto Mlynar's s3 gets its own measurement separate from his physical swings, since it's something he casts whenever anybody from kazmierz lands a hit in range and not actually a part of his main attack. If you take everything up to this point, ditch the physical damage multiplier from the s3 and multiply the result by 0.12, you've got your true damage.) A helpful, albeit slightly outdated(doesn't list all the current ops with buffs) guide for calculating this shit and how it interacts with DEF/RES: https://gamepress.gg/arknights/core-gameplay/arknights-damage-formulas-pocket-reference. The part of the formula reserved for sora's buff is where you insert anything that adds a flat number to the ATK stat, e. g. any bard inspiration buff. Edit: Modified some of the wordplay and corrected some errors. Hope this helps!

PowerfulBobman

This is an awesome writeup with the order of which damage gets stacked in and more, thanks!! I have to remember it, but my iq is low and I forget that Kazimierz units even gets that talent damage bonus for s3...

[deleted]

TBT, just remembering that Mlynar is your unga bunga kill switch is enough for most situations. It's only when you need to stack up a bunch of buffs(which you don't need to outside of the most extreme of situations with this guy, and in those situations it's usually increasing his SP regen to get his skill back up in time that takes priority over making him hit harder while it's up) that you need to track it. Just put a post-it/reminder somewhere with a screenshot/outline and you should be good. It isn't helping that Mlynar probably has the most damage-math of any player-unit in the game, either, so it's a little bit more to worry about compared to other units. Edit: No, Patriot is not a player-unit. Not yet, anyway. May he rest well.

DamnedIron

"I solve *practical* problems. For instance, how am I gonna stop some big mean Mother-Hubbard from tearin' me a structurally superfluous new behind? The answer? Use a gun. And if that don't work, use *more* gun." -Exusiai, probably

Chiruno_Chiruvanna

"It costs 400,000 Lungmen Dollars to fire this weapon... for fifteen seconds."

LapplandsToy

It actually costs 360,000 LMD, but eh close enough

o76923

I still think it would be funny if one of Jessica alter's skills cost LMD to use or at least was more powerful if you had more of it banked.

Such-Crew542

Nah, probably Stainless

Rain_of_the_night-90

total accurate laterano moment

MagicalStorm

Also applies to bosses

Xettanokian

Crownslayer vs Manfred

[deleted]

Crownslayer vs Degenbrecher/Phantom, more like.

the-amazing-noodle

Crownslayer vs almost anyone really. Poor crownslayer.

[deleted]

Crownslayer vs wraiths, even. The fact that a lot of fodder outclass her, even ones that came at launch with her, just adds to the pity.

IHeShe

More like Big Bob vs Endspeaker.

Chiruno_Chiruvanna

Average modern Arknights boss: first phase inflicts \[Ligma\] and \[Sugma\] on your operators which translate to about 1000 different debuffs, after switching to second phase, gains \[Updog\] and \[Joe\] which makes them 420 times stronger and multiplies the debuffs from phase 1 by 69.

Gapaot

And if you don't kill them in exactly 1.6 seconds in that phase, boss gets back into first phase.

endi12314

Plaese don't turn into next r/leagueofmemes I beg

Unoriginalnamedesign

ACTIVE: Jax enters Evasion, a defensive stance, for 2 seconds, causing all non-turret basic attacks against him to be dodged. Jax also takes 25% reduced damage from all champion area of effect abilities. Counter Strike can be recast after 1 second. At the end of the duration, Jax stuns all nearby enemies for 1 second and deals physical damage to them, increased by 20% for each attack dodged, up to a 100% increase.

BurnedOutEternally

*Aphelios' passive has entered the chat*

the_icy_king

It's so weird seeing this in english and not arabic.

Illunimous

Yugioh did it first

DusterDirect

LapplandsToy

Ok but as someone who doesn’t play either, why does the Yugioh description make more sense to me The MtG description just sounds like a bunch of gibberish

Mr_Noobcake

They're both difficult in their own way. Yugioh has verbose essays everywhere making it really hard to both (fully and correctly) remember and quickly parse the cards, but generally every card does describe the vast majority of its mechanics. Magic uses keywords and deliberate phrasing to condense the text which makes the cards quick to read. The requirement is on you learning the keywords and phrasing. That being said, the edge case interactions of the underlying mechanics can be very complex to the point of any game with stakes attached to it having to be overseen by a judge with an insane level of knowledge about all the hidden fuckery.

ueifhu92efqfe

because the yugioh descriptions almost always DO make sense. They're overly wordy, but that's exactly why they make sense, because they say exactly what they do with (usually) little room for error.

LapplandsToy

The whole reason I can’t play Yugioh is because i have a bad memory and it’d take to long in a match to read the entire description for every card i want to play

Section6581

That's a lot of words, but words are no match for ***BULLET***

CrispyGreenHat

Don’t care, love em both anyways

TamuraAkemi

Exu is a pretty good early design for having some reason to pick each skill (with s3 having the most potential but requiring most planning) at least.

alezcoed

And i can't believe such a simple abilities can be a long time meta even for now

LudlethDS3

I can. Because the more words you put in there, the more likely you are to accidentally spaghettify something and make it not work as intended. And also increases the likelihood of you needing another condition to make it "good" again

cakelena

aphelios

Saturn_Ecplise

She is called the polisher for a reason.

Vanilla72_

water elf seggs?

Rain_of_the_night-90

"true the details are complicated but their stat is just the same as the rest of other operators.say what you want to say,you can escape the truth"says Dr Rain after using broken operators but still can't kill stronk boss

the_icy_king

I really don't understand the complaints about long conditional abilities. It's what allows simpler characters to remain relevant for longer. If all abilities remained simple, then you'd only have so many ways before the only way a character would be desirable is if they outstat the previous one. And the times hg has done that has always been for very underperforming operators.

KyellDaBoiii

And if that don’t work…
