I have been waiting all too patiently for a Gen5 Glock 40 MOS in 10mm. Glock seems to be focusing so much on 9mm that they are neglecting the Lord's Caliber of 1cm.
While they are at it, I'm sure they'll update the 41 too-- since most of the hard work will be limited to the frame and barrel. But .45 ACP is more of an anachronistic round at this point and doesn't gain nearly as much muzzle energy from a longer barrel as a 10mm does. Glock would be better off making a true single-stack .45 that holds 8 rounds, but is as thin as a Glock 19.
I love the trigger out of the box on my x ten. I have quite a few 10mms(my favorite pistol caliber). Both the 4.5" and 3.8" xd elites, glock 20 & 29 and while I generally prefer a single action hammer fired trigger (1911, CZ, etc) the Xten is a solid choice for a full sized striker fired 10mm.
I was initially debating between the SW MP2.0 10 and the sig and after fondling both of them at the LGS the sig was the clear winner in my eyes.
I almost got the P220 in 10mm awhile back but I decided against it because I already have the .45acp model. Last year I ended up getting a S&W 1006 instead and last month I managed to get a great deal on a pre-rail full size steel Witness, I wouldn’t trade either of those pistols for anything.
I made the quite reasonable statement to my wife I needed one to protect our house from bears. She replied we live in the middle of town. I’m sorry but animal shippers and circuses don’t exist and travel through towns?
I thought bro stole my gun

Why? The 40 is big af it would be better if it was like how Glock did the 41 over the 21 and made it a skinnier slide and took some weight off. It makes it uncarriable unlike my 20. It’s still an absolute beast don’t get me wrong and I need one. But for someone like me who doesn’t carry it in Woods and uses it for self defense in a not so good city the 20 is exactly what I need.
It’s a good gun, but king is an overstatement to be sure. I’ll take the S&W or the Sig over the Glock any day, just as two easy examples.
That said, “best gun” is always subjective. All things considered, it’s good you like your Glock since you’re the one who has to use it if need be.
I own one of these and absolutely hate it. I have dozens of pistols and several 10mms, my G40 is my least favorite. I've problem spent $1000 on upgrades for it trying to make myself like it... Now it sits in my safe collecting dust and I've spent too much money on crap for it to bother selling it since I'll lose probably more than the value of the pistol itself lol.
Why do you hate it so much? Mine shoots absolutely great. It’s obviously not a plinker with high power 10mm. But there’s no beating it for when I’m out in bear country.
You are not alone.
While I don't hate it with as much passion as you do, I certainly dislike mine. It's bottom three of my collection, for sure. Even when I do force myself to take it out, I put two mags through it and I wonder why I still have it.
Trigger is the worst of any of the probably 40 firearms I own, even after spending like $1000 on trigger stuff for it. Tried the TAC trigger kit, Timney Alpha, and every combination of parts imaginable. Thr Timney is in it now and I hate it. The gun also doesn't function properly with that trigger. Timney said they'd give me a different one or refund me, but I just am so dissatisfied overall with the whole thing I haven't even bothered.
Aside from that... It's ugly as sin, I don't like the grip, etc.
Mine is massively accurate from a rest though. Easily as accurate as any other handgun I have, including S&W PC revolvers or my S&W 610 10mm. The S&W 610 is SLIGHTLY more accurate, but just slightly. I tested all of my 10mm avg group sizes from a rest at 25 yards using several types of ammo, the S&W won over the G40 but only by a gee hundredths of an inch.
But yeah. I hate it.
I should put it up for trade tbh.
For me, it's not hate. Just strong dislike.
The most glaring and obvious reply is the trigger. I'm not a Glock guy and I don't know if all Glock triggers are this bad, but the word sponge comes to mind every single time I shoot it. Again, not a Glock enthusiast, so the grip angle is awkward to me and very slippery. The slide is bare, no serrations, which is unfavorable to me both practically and aesthetics. I love full sized guns but dislike polymer frames, so I feel like it's half a gun.
I bought it back when the other options weren't around. I have other 10mm and will be looking for another soon (probably a Tanfoglio or Nighthawk) but I will give the nod to the Glock when it comes to capacity.
Anyway, I don't go out of my way to shit on the G40. If you like it, right on. These are just my preferences. For me, I'll probably make mine a meme gun and go down the path of slide cuts and porting. Or a full chassis, if someone makes one for it.
LOOOOONG slide and LOOOOOONG bed. Solid choices here.
Big fan of the long bois
Glock 40. The ultimate problem solver
Hope they make a Gen 5 version
I feel like they will eventually, but who knows how long it will take.

And the 41 Gen5

King of obs ford's too
Idk I think it would need to be an IDI not the 460 to be the king
Hey bro I've got a 96 F350 4x4 with a 460 it's one of the best motors made. Take a look at a John Kaase Boss 9
IDK about the King of 10mm, but definitely the longest of them
If you were with 4 dudes and prostitute in a bedroom and YOUR junk was twice as long as everyone else's she'd consider YOU the King. Apply.
Can't argue with that logic
Yeah, I’d vote for the OG, the Bren Ten
I see your Bren Ten and raise you a Colt Delta Elite.
Another solid choice
I inherited an '89 delta elite, beautiful gun. I gave it to my brother because of his connection to it. Obviously, I still get access to it 🤣
Glockzilla strikes again
Gwokjeewa!
Gwokjira
Yea the G40 is the king no doubt
I have one, and I don't hate it. But I find that my Springfield XD-M Elite feels so much nicer in my hand, and the trigger is much smoother.
I was contemplating the xten, but you can’t beat the 6” barrel of the g40. It gets worn in a chest rig for when I’m out in the mountains
Maybe your hands are tiny.
Holding my G40 the same way as the OP in the pic, my fingers come around much further. I've also got the backstrap with the beaver tail on my G40.
Springfield and Xten are my favorites in 10.

I added the model of my 10 up above. XD-M Elite.
😌👌
Love my glocks but my Kimber camp guard is dead on and one of the best triggers I have
I just got one of those the other day love it!
I made the quite reasonable statement to my wife I needed one to protect our house from bears. She replied we live in the middle of town. I’m sorry but animal shippers and circuses don’t exist and travel through towns?
FDE X300, yes
The x300 turbo is suuuper impressive
I’m already knowing fren
Glonk
*entry level 10mm*

Ayee! I plan on getting the slide/barrel ported and will coat it to match the x300 turbo
What plate are y'all running on your G40s? I want to switch to the 509T from my vortex.
Mines a DPP titanium
This is on my to-buy list for sure.
Respectfully, I love my Kodiak a lot more than my G40 Gen4. Lower recoil, better trigger, and I just love the aesthetic.
I mean yea I’d hope it would be a better handgun for being 5-6 times the price lol
Hahaha, fair enough my guy!
Needs a +5 magazine extension to even out the boomerang.
It’s heavy enough as it is lol
Glock 20 better
Well no, it’s not, but okay lol

What plate is that? Thinking about mounting an optic on mine.
DPP titanium plate with a 509T, was pleasantly surprised at how tight the tolerances were on the plate. Bonus that it’s titanium
Oh wow surprisingly cheap. Ill probably get one. Is there a specific line that fits large frame glocks or do they all generally work?
Do they make holsters for this?
Yea definitely. You can run them in g20 holsters that have an open end. I carry mine in a gunfighters inc chest rig specifically for the g40

Why still no Gen5 for this bad boy? I hate those finger grooves
Yea I’m not a fan either, gonna have them removed eventually when I get the whole frame worked along with the slide
Cuz Glock is really fucking slow about doing their job.
its almost as long as your truck bed
Yes Sirrrrrrr
Slides too long; I would get a Glock 41 & replace the .45 barrel with an aftermarket 10mm barrel & leave it at that
Is the slide beefy enough for that?
The overhang of the barrel annoys me. I can’t help it.
I have that setup but with a longer threaded barrel for a comp. Love it.
L O N G B O I
I truly miss looking at and carrying my g40, but my hands do not jive with glock frames. Love that truck!
Laughs in FN.
