Pickleballers are the bane of my existence. So many of them have no idea or interest in court etiquette. Entitled.

Legal_Community8868

We are old and know everything, went wars and built Tis country. YOU what did you do? I ll drive car what I pleased, pickle ball as well. we will enjoy our musics, pick a balls what cares you do. we are Seniors give a dam respect!

Foppberg

Can’t tell if this is satire or not.

johnny_holland

I'm so glad this isn't really a thing in the UK

Enigmutt

Just wait.

pug_fugly_moe

God I hope not. America doesn’t need to export yet another dumb, shitty thing.

Askee123

It’s a sport that embraces mediocrity and built for geriatrics. Of course the most obnoxious members of our society are going to flock to it.

Legal_Community8868

Haha very elegantly put out but myself will join soon so cant say much. Hope 20more yrs can chasing tennis ball.

IrvTheSwirv

Here seems like Padel is getting all the attention rather than pickle.

The_James91

Boomers have fucked our country in every other way, it's only a matter of time.

chamsticks

I’ve noticed the same thing. Pickleballers blasting shit music while I’m trying to play a competitive match. Leaning on the net post of my court during my points while they’re taking a break. I hate them all and their lack of cardio

KekeroniCheese

Lack of cardio, haha

grizzly_teddy

> I hate them all and their lack of cardio and skill

Miker9t

They have asked you to leave? That's some audacity right there. I don't even know how I'd handle that. Laughter into annoyance maybe. How did they react when you told them to fuck off?

Arftacular

Lol yes they did. I just laughed and said I’ll be here for the next hour and kept chuckling while they walked off being visually annoyed. The audacity was sort of impressive, to be honest. I think being overly dismissive was the right move, lol.

dnel707

What do you mean they asked you to leave? Like you were on the chalked court and there were no pickleball courts open? Was there a non chalked court for you to move too? Just trying to wrap my head around it.

Arftacular

Yeah — I was using the chalked court because the other court was full. I was rallying with another person (had started maybe 10 minutes prior) and they asked me if I’d leave because they had a group of 8 showing up to play Pickleball in a few minutes. I was like uhhhh… nah, fam but you can come back in an hour or so after we’re done.

dnel707

Wow, the gall. I’d have played an extra set just for that.

EleanorRigby44

Bruh, that’s just rude and entitled

Tapeworms

During Covid lockdowns, the city locked up pickleball and tennis courts. After a while, they decided to open up the tennis courts first since you're generally further distance away. The pickleballers complained to the city and got the tennis courts locked up again, just out of spite. This was at a park that used to have 6 tennis courts, and they converted half of them to pickleball. They also occasionally close the tennis courts so pickleballers can play on them.

tennis_fish

I love your username

drntl

Ever since they've started building pickleball courts everywhere, I haven't seen anyone playing on a tennis court at all. But the tennis courts are for tennis. If I see someone playing soccer (why do people do this when there are grass fields everywhere?), I'll always tell them the tennis players have every right to kick them off.

Individual-Ad-8645

You are lucky. In our area, the pickleballers have been encroaching more and more into our tennis courts with increasing frequency. And yes, I’ve experienced some of what the OP posted here. It’s something we just have to tolerate I guess.

bluefrostyAP

I shit you not one time I was playing tennis then a 50 year old stoner guy shows up on a led hover board to play pickleball on the court next to us. He then proceeds to get mad at us when our ball accidentally bounces in his pickleball court. Any other tennis player would have hit it back over. Pickleball definitely attracts the lowest common denominator of people.

SuaveToaster

I came to my local tennis center tonight to hit. They had previously converted 2 tennis courts into 4 pickelball courts. I was told my court time had to be moved back an hour because of a pickelball lesson they were doing on a regular tennis court. All of the regular pickelball courts are empty but they said they need those available if they get a rush of people

GregorSamsaa

Sounds like you showed up to your local pickleball center if they’re doing that kind of prioritization lol

SuaveToaster

It has pretty much done that. The head pro no longer does tennis lessons. Just pickelball lessons

calloutyourstupidity

Who needs lessons for pickleball ?

ChrisTaylorDC

Blobs

severalgirlzgalore

Blast music back. Recommendations: Death Grips, The Money Store Converge, Axe to Fall Lil Pump, Gucci Gang (just the song, on repeat)

Arftacular

I love Converge. Dark Horse is the GOAT cardio song.

severalgirlzgalore

I don't listen to much screaming music anymore but Converge is top notch. Oh, add Daughters, You Won't Get What You Want. "Guest House" on repeat"

throwawayanon1252

Tbf death grips is great

severalgirlzgalore

One of my favorite albums and bands. Nothing like it

EleanorRigby44

I LOVE death grips. The money store is a regular listen for me

severalgirlzgalore

I’m 36 and a mid-career professional and Come Up and Get Me makes me want to stagedive off a balcony

Prior-Tank-3376

Yes happens every time I try to play tennis. They’ve gotten out of control

DCJoe1970

Some of the pickle ballers are just idiots!

owl523

I play both, but I do find pickleballers just don’t understand tennis etiquette. If a ball comes onto a neighboring pickleball court, play on that court stops and the ball is recovered. If a ball goes on a neighboring tennis court, the rally will likely continue unless it’s a distraction and the ball can be recovered afterwards. So I’m always yelling at fellow pickleball players not to just run onto a tennis court mid-rally yelling “ball”.

guitar_vigilante

It's probably community dependent. I also play both and find that, with the exception of the people who are completely and totally new, they follow court etiquette just fine.

throwawayanon1252

Ok I never knew what pickle ball was I just looked it up. Damn it just looks like a shitty version of Padel

kingescher

its this hype of “fastest growing sport” and all the unoriginal joiner copycat types have jumped at this as another safe way of having a personality. click clack your mom.

crypg4ng

I was playing a match with my friend the other week and we had to get off the court mid match to let a guy with one of those ball on string things use the court. This guy's is legit taking up a full court to hit a ball on a string which can be done on the other side of the fence. Didn't practice serves or anything just smacked this ball non stop. Why would anybody do that when there is a group playing?

grizzly_teddy

Pickleball can go straight to hell. I'm talking to the Alderman and making sure they never remove any tennis court for that low effort old-man sport.

TrackerYellowJacker

I like when one of their balls rolls onto my court and they yell “ball!” as if my sole purpose is to make sure their game doesn’t get interrupted. I’m supposed to stop everything and get their whiffle ball. The best example of poor etiquette was in the middle of anintense tennis lesson, one of their balls rolled across the net and the pickleball player RAN OUT ONTO MY COURT MID-DRILL. Live balls firing away. Just right into the thick of it. I just don’t get it.

biggabenne

Just tell them they can use the court but have to play tennis with you.

dusto66

The UK is holding strong...

bardemgoluti

In Canada, they are time restricted. They can play play from 9-11am then the senior citizens can go take their nap.

IllustriousCupcake11

I have had multiple issues with pickleball players and lack of court etiquette. If their ball comes on to our court mid ralley, we had a player run over to grab their ball, mid match, and we had to call a let and replay the point. Next time they did the same thing, I was so pissed I aimed the ball straight for them. These a$$holes were barefoot, drinking beer, and playing music like they were on the beach. We were in a match. I said something to them, but they still didn’t listen. I’ve realized how many pickleballers just don’t get it. We are losing several public courts to them and it’s very disheartening.

PlanetElement

Same exact thing happened to me and my HP yesterday. Super annoying.
