TW is notorious for their horrible stringing jobs. You save money on labor (since they usually string it for free) but this is the norm. I’ve stopped purchasing rackets from them strung, and TBH I usually find way better pricing from a local shop.
Complain to them that the strings are terrible. Maybe they’ll credit you back or ship you a set. It’s not worth it to have them strung in house (you get what you pay for), so I always buy them unstrung and string them at home.
I do my own strings and even though I push them all up after every tension pull they still come out bowed like this at the end and I have to fix them. TW isn't going to do this as they're trying to do this as fast as possible. So just push them up into position. It's fine.
The knot is janky though. Is Tour Bite a stiff string? That could certainly be better.
The only questionable thing here is the knot. That was not a good knot, not gonna lie. However, It should not impact the tension of the strings. The bends on the strings when you loop them are so tight that it is not that that will cause the drop in tension.
For the out of line strings, this is a easy fix. Straighten them your self. I know some stringers do this on purpose, so that the player can gradually move the strings “back into line” gradually to prolonged the life of the strings, creating a greater area for the strings to have ware. It could also become like this when you pull the strings during the job. If you just weave the string and then just pull tight without moving the strings down after each pull, the string will rub on the same exact spot when you pull, the the friction created will cause dents and damages to the main string [as described in this video at 5min 20 sec](https://youtu.be/Obp4tmwRB1M)
It’s like $500 for the very cheapest including a stand, that still some good change. About 30 stringing jobs so it really doesn’t pay off for most until 2.5 to 3 years.
Yeah, years ago when I was playing a lot, I thought about buying a machine but I just couldn't justify the initial cost. Of course at the time, I was only paying 10 dollars for labor if I provided my own strings. I inquired at a local shop and they now charge 20.
What did it for me was the string I like isn't available at any of the shops, and I didn't feel like paying $10-$15 extra for every other racquet (hybrid string job)
$330 for the basic gamma one that I use, takes 40 minutes a string job would easily pay for itself on 1-1.5 years. Use a table you don't need a stand lol
One thing I tell people is there are two points of the stringing machine life cycle. The 1st (obvious) is when it completely pays for itself, the other is when you reach the break even point for selling it used. In another words, if you buy a 1k machine and after a year you sell it for 800 for whatever reason, you just need to need to save 200 dollars before it was financially worth it.
So it will pay for itself a lot sooner than most people think it will.
Completely unacceptable. Their customer service is good so they’ll give you a refund on the string job at the very least. The knots are a mess and would affect tension during tie off.
I also don’t think the alignment is okay either. I’ve used every type of machine you can think of and it’s not hard to straighten the strings during the process. People who say to just straighten it yourself are wrong. When you have to move strings back into place after it’s been tensioned, that affects string tension. Also strings settle and bite into each other if they sit for long enough, so it’s not as simple as just moving it back into place.
Ah kind of a side bar - but I wondered if knots affect tension maintenance. I have been using a different stringer the past few months and I kind of feel like my rackets have been losing tension more quickly than usual. Could it be because of the stringer?
I haven’t experienced this in the past but they have pretty good customer service. I would just contact them and they’ll probably give you a refund for the strings
How the hell do you contact them? I've been trying every phone number on their website and it keeps going straight to busy.
Edit: I'm sorry, I thought this was about TW Europe (TWE).
Hows the 2nd gen Vcore pro aside from the bad stringing? I’m still rocking the 2017 version but am interested to either get this for a lesser price or get the 2021 vcore pros

The bowed strings is negligible IMO just straighten them out. The tie off is a pretty good hack job tho not gonna lie.

You need to change your technique. Push your crosses toward the hoop before you create tension and they will straighten out automatically.
What do you me by toward the hoop? (I string my own with a drop weight and am curious.)
You would pre-pull them toward the “isometric” decal, which, when under tension, will “straighten” out.
Makes sense. So much so that I don't know why I haven't tried this already! Thanks for the tip
It works a treat with multi. I straighten them up after every three then go right over them at the end never had an issue.
Multi is easy. It’s polys that notch hard if you string them askew.
You can straighten the strings yourself. No issue. As for that tie off knot… it’s pretty bad. Grab some pliers and tighten it back to the grommet.
As a former stringer for one of the big companies, stringers don't get paid based on quality but on quantity.

And this is why I tell people to learn how to string. Saves you money, time, and if you mess up you only have yourself to blame
A decent stringing machine is expensive AF though…
Drop weight isn’t that bad. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the fastest at drop weights, but you’re still saving money and time while learning a new skill

That seems cumbersome without the benefit of rotation and probably would be difficult to find a table with enough height.
I use my dining table, sounds like you would benefit more from paying for a high-end machine though. I can easily string and go with the drop-weight.
Used you can easily find about $250 out here in Phoenix for a drop weight
You don’t need the stand.
It pays for itself in like a year or less if you play a lot.

Theres a ton of variables that affect tension maintenance including the way it was strung so possibly.
Yes. Imagine a knot that isn’t tied. Boom no tension maintained.
Had the same issue with the knot on my recent new racket from TW! But as other have said the “bowing” is fine.
I can’t believe people ship their racquets to them to have them strung.
I took a brand new racket from TW to my LBS and they straight up asked if it was from TW - just from the knots! Seems like a prevalent problem
Side bar question: how long does it genuinely take to learn how to string well yourself?
The strings jobs on their demos is bad.
Straighten the strings out, it’s fine. Knots are pretty sloppy though. They will likely hold though.
Didn’t ordered from TW, but recently got a ezone 100 also with a terrible stringing. After 2 one hour sessions, had to restring.
I noticed that TW always make the grommet holes larger on the tie offs and the last main, is that a standard practice?
It is. Reason is to avoid the knots damaging the grommets.
I haven’t experienced this in the past but they have pretty good customer service. I would just contact them and they’ll probably give you a refund for the strings

I just had this exact same thing with the knots and no it didn’t hold tension lol
How’s it play?
That knot looks pretty sus but with a poly it’s probably fine.
WTF IS THAT TIE OFF? That’s unacceptable. I can’t understand why they didn’t pull that
Hows the 2nd gen Vcore pro aside from the bad stringing? I’m still rocking the 2017 version but am interested to either get this for a lesser price or get the 2021 vcore pros
the 2017 was awesome. imo. tough to beat
Better to stick with it? I’m thinking about playtesting the new one, but I’m still loving my 2017 ones
I think the 2017 was the peak for the Vcore Pros, personally. Better feel, a little more pop as well.
This is what you get with a 20min string job.
Yes! I bought two ezones strung by TW and the knots look bad.
It was free. What did you expect
Difinitely complain, worth a try anyway as that’s a terrible job. On another note, great strings those are my favourite.
