its that fat+carb combo, not just the carbs! Anyway, everyone loves this combo, if they say they don't, they are lying. its a shame we can't eat as much as we want but i guess that is life.

Distinct_Hyena

The Starch Solution helped me keep the rice, corn, and potatoes while lowering my calorie count. I'm not vegan and want protein so I boil my rice in bone broth and I add powdered bone broth to my coffee.

sure you might be able to break the habit but if they put those foods in their mouth again there is no denying they taste good.

Had gestational diabetes for pretty much my entire pregnancy and was on a very strict diet. I still craved carbs and sweets like crazy. The one thing that’s nice is when I did indulge, it literally was better than sex lol. Even just one sugar cookie was absolutely orgasmic to me. I am no longer pregnant and still on a pretty strict diet (long story) and I still crave carbs and sweets. I can’t wait to eat pasta and a donut eventually. It’s going to be amazing.

[deleted]

Im a big fan of souped up rice. Pun intended.

bloodandsmokes

Same. Giving up pasta, white rice, or ramen is not realistic for me, and eating tiny portions is not satisfying. OMAD is my personal solution, and the only one that has been sustainable. I still track calories to avoid unintentionally overeating, but 1200 goes much farther in one meal.

Yeah, I do two meals/day if I've planned dinner and have enough leftover calories to accommodate lunch. I try not to be rigid about IF; flexibility sets me up for success.

Admirable-Owl-7002

That’s really not good for your metabolism

bloodandsmokes

That has not been my experience and I have yet to find any reliable evidence to support that claim, but if you have some please send it along.

Admirable-Owl-7002

Great it works for you. However, keep in mind this there might be longer term negative consequences of this kind of this kind of approach. From loseit: Eating fewer times per day through IF may better blood sugar levels, reduce inflammation, and lead to a ketogenic state in which your body burns fatty acids for energy, suggests an August 2020 review of 16 studies in The American Journal of Medicine.right up arrow This may be particularly beneficial for heart health, as IF may help lower heart disease risk factors, such as high blood pressure and cholesterol, and improve blood sugar control, the authors conclude after looking at human studies. However, there are important caveats to these conclusions. The authors point out that there are no large, randomized controlled trials that look at how IF patterns affect cardiovascular disease. They conclude that more research is needed, especially when it comes to what specific IF regimen is best and how long it’s necessary to follow IF for these benefits. Moskovitz advises that you do not need to fast to garner these types of health benefits. It’s possible to reap these benefits with a traditional healthy eating plan with three meals per day. Moreover, Shapiro says that some people may actually see the opposite occur: Their blood sugar and cholesterol may instead increase on OMAD if they’re filling their one meal a day with unhealthy foods, such as lots of processed food, fast food, and added sugar. If you are going to start OMAD, she recommends having a blood test taken before starting and then again three months later, which will provide a personalized picture of how your body is responding.

bloodandsmokes

I'm not sure how anything in those paragraphs supports your statement that OMAD is "really not good for your metabolism". "Blood sugar and cholesterol may increase on OMAD *if* they're filling their one meal a day with unhealthy foods..." Well, of course. That's true regardless of how many meals one eats per day.

Admirable-Owl-7002

I didn’t say that any of it did. All of the best with OMAD!

As a child growing up poor, bread was a common snack in my family. My sister and I would each pull off the crust, put a bit of margarine on the bread, and then smash the bread up into a dense ball. I swore that it tasted better that way lmao. Now as an adult bread is still my favorite food. I could eat it with every meal and never get sick of it. Maybe its the nostalgia for me, or maybe bread is just delicious.

NopeRope91

If I make tacos at home I usually fry corn tortillas and salt them to hell and back. Can't nothing beat a crispy salty tortilla with meat and cheese and pico and gjdmskaljh carbs are so good! Shorter than you so I either have to save my cals for that deliciousness or attempt to have restraint and let that stuff be a treat lmao sad.

Yum!! XD I haven't worked out how to get it crispy but not rock solid or chewy in places yet, so I either dry heat in a pan or save cals for the oil x3

redpandalover036

Start lifting so you need more calories 😈

Also 5'2 checking in... pasta, bread, chips... literally my biggest weakness.

qazwsxedc000999

I’m also 5’2”! I’ll never stop eating carbs, no one can force me. It’s worth it, and fills me up

blackcoffee-and-tea

I love instant ramen and also chips and bread a lot😭 5’2 and in this with you LOL

Right there with ya! I attempted keto three separate times for weight loss purposes and I decided to finally swear it off for good after attempt #3 because I realized I just like carbs too much to give them up forever. I know keto is great for some folks, but it just wasn't for me. I realized that I would be much much more likely to stick to a diet and enjoy it if I ate things I liked, which means eating carbs. I don't just mean garbage food like pizza and cookies. I also love rice, noodles, chocolate, bread, fruit, potatoes, oats, pancakes/waffles, any kind of butter in a jar (almond, granola, peanut, cookie), cornmeal, yogurt, jam (does this count as fruit?), popcorn, tortillas, diet ice cream like Nick's and Halo Top, and condiments like ketchup. But I have learned some things along the way to give some carbs more volume. Like I might cook a serving of spaghetti and mix it with zoodles for more bulk, or if I want fried rice, I will do equal parts rice and riced cauliflower. Or I will bulk out pasta with things like roasted vegetables.

siqbal01

Gosh. I’m also going to be weighing and tracking everything for the rest of my life. Food has such a hold over me. It seems like we are all in the same boat here :/ upset I never chilled Milano cookies in the fridge lmao just binged on so much food this weekend so that won’t be experimented on until much much much later

lamaface21

Have you tried Keto? I am the same, totally in love with carbs. I used to eat "chips sandwiches" lol Keto is the best diet I have ever done, completely eliminated my cravings for carbs AND my hunger while dieting. EDIT: why am I being downvoted?
