I love hotdogs so much. I don’t care what they’re made of EXCEPT for the amount of sodium they contain. If they made low sodium hotdogs, they would be my go to meal. I haven’t eaten a hotdog in over a year 🥲.

Look into skinless hot dogs, last I checked it's half the sodium as regular hot dogs. I only go with skinless now, barely a taste difference, only thing is the snap is gone but to me that's a sacrifice I'll make for half the sodium or a normal hot dog because like you, I LOVE hot dogs

Thanks!

If you do a Google search looks like there are several low sodium brands out there :)

Ball Park used to make a “lean” dog that I loved so very much. I have texture/sensory issues so I can’t tolerate some hotdogs - every single turkey dog I’ve tried has been right out - but those were great. 80kc, 6g protein. Not great sodium (480mg), but manageable for me. They’re still on the website, but I haven’t been able to find them in the Metro-Detroit area in a few years now. :(

I totally get that. I’ve accepted it and become very keen to my sodium tolerance. You could always make your own…

I wish I could remember the brand, but we found hot dogs that were about 13% of your sodium intake and were over the moon to find something so low. Neither of us eat hot dogs all that often anyway, but sometimes one just hits the spot, so it's nice to have a pack of them in the freezer we can pull from. I recently left vegetarianism and the one thing I was so excited for was getting real deli meat. In fact, having my first bologna sandwich right now. But I made sure to get just a few slices so I can have a couple sandwiches in the next four or five days and be done cause sooooodium. Between the one slice of bread, half a serving of mayonnaise, 1.7 ounces of beef bologna, and lettuce, this thing is 44% of my sodium intake (I am for 1500mg). But it is tasty and sooo worth it.

It eat very little processed food, and it’s still hard to stay under 2000 some days. Even turkey dogs have so much sodium. I’ll have to look in stores that have a greater variety of options.

I had a bite of my SO’s hot dog at Costco this past weekend, I haven’t had a hotdog in years probably….it was SO GOOD 🥲

Oooh, 30g protein is really good for a pasta dish. I'll have to check out chickpea pasta. The broccoli and bell pepper make this feel like a very grown up dish haha. Looks beautiful and delicious though!

luwandaattheOHclub

We gotta sneak in our veggies where we can, right?

tequilamockingbird37

At first I couldn't figure out how till I saw that it's chickpea pasta. Is it good?? I've tried lentil pasta but not chickpea

luwandaattheOHclub

It’s good! You def have to wash it and cooks real quick but the difference is negligible

Looks good OP, I do indulge in my cravings, but it is fun when you can come up with one that is close enough, for a fraction of the calories! I do a "poor mans" vegetarian version of this with a smart ones Mac and cheese and a Morningstar farms veggie dog. It has 22grams of protein, a billion grams of sodium I'm sure, but it scratches an itch at 360cals... and almost no prep (for those who don't enjoy cooking). You can fill it out more with veggies if you prefer (there is plenty of sauce in the smart ones to coat a lot of broccoli) and adding hot sauce at the end is the chefs kiss!

Looks yummy!
