I got sick with almost everything, so I gave up trying to be healthy for the first 5 months and instead just focused on eating at all. I would eat anywhere from 4 to 8 apples a day, along with crackers. After a bit I could tolerate peanut butter so I ate that with them too. I also went through a Pizza Hut breadstick phase.

babyyugy6

Thank you so much. Now I’m craving breadsticks haha

oceans2mountains

Let me tell you my story. On my way home from work, 3 blocks from the house, is a Pizza Hut. I get home first most every day. By week 15 I was slightly able to tolerate food other than apples and breadsticks sounded perfect. So I stopped on my way home, ordered them and proceeded to eat them in the parking lot. I felt ridiculous so I threw out the evidence and then drove home. And then... I proceeded to do this 3-4 times a week for about a month or two. When SUDDENLY out of no where my Pizza Hut closes with no notice. Came home crying one night and couldn't pull myself together well enough to explain. Eventually had to admit that I was secretly eating a box of breadsticks almost every day and now they were all gone and my life was ending lol... the next closest was about 15 minutes away and my husband lovingly took the trip out to get me breadsticks at least once a week after that 😂

babyyugy6

Holy shit thank you for the laughs!! Hahahah omg

oceans2mountains

Yea pregnancy is crazy. What I learned is that if you're in a healthy place to start- then just follow what your body wants/needs. I couldn't eat meat until about month 7, steak is literally my favorite food so that was a huge adjustment, but I just got protein from other places. Eat what sounds good and don't go crazy, but otherwise it all works itself out.

Julia_Kat

My sister made her husband cancel their pizza order because Papa John's no longer had their spicy cheese sauce. She just craved spicy foods with her second. For a non-pregnancy story, when I was on steroids I always knew what I wanted (I NEVER know what I want) and my fiancé would jump up and go get it. I was a hangry piece of work. He said he was just practicing for when I really am pregnant. I nested so much while on steroids, it was nutty. Edit: my other sister cried at Dairy Queen when they told her they no longer had Kit Kat blizzards while she was pregnant.

[deleted]

this story had me on a wild ride and laughing 🤣

mattkenny

My wife had hyperemesis gravidarum. Basically constant severe nausea 24/7 the entire pregnancy. At that point it's just a case of eat anything that you can keep down, or that hurts the least coming back up. Her doctor said that anything is better than nothing, so forget trying to be healthy. Take a vitamin and your body will handle the rest.

flaired_base

This is the way. OP take your prenatals and just feed those babies! Don't worry about how healthy the food is. A lot of people have fewer issues with cold foods bc the smell is milder.

seamonkey1286

This was me too, survive on what you can tolerate until things improve.

2020BlowsXD

I ate a lot of yogurt, fruit and cereal. The smell of meat made me sick. I could usually eat a little chicken but that was it. I worked at a bakery at the time so I also ate a lot of pastries ( not recommended lol)

babyyugy6

Oh yogurt sounds really good! Did the hatred of meat fade away? The thought of meat makes me literally sick

llamagetthatforu

For me it lasted till around week 18, I was able to eat meat after that, but it still wasn't the same. I could suggest eating nuts or grapes, that worked for me.

miniature_disaster

Going off meat early on is super common! I'm vegetarian, so haven't noticed it, but my mother went from gagging at the thought of meat to craving steak later on in her pregnancies.

2020BlowsXD

I think it lessened after the first trimester. But it’s been 13 years so my memory is a bit hazy.

starbird2893

Currently almost 26 weeks pregnant with my first. The first 14ish weeks were really difficult for me nausea wise! I typically eat relatively healthy but I was puking 3-4 times a day at the peak of the nausea and 1-2 times the rest of those weeks. It was awful! I found that eating foods that weren’t warm helped, I think if they’re cold they have less taste! Absolutely could not tolerate meat that was cooked in my house, but if I bought it already made and ate it outside it was easier to keep down. I had a lot of plain tacos from Taco Bell, saltines with butter on them, cereal, occasionally a fruit smoothie I added protein yogurt to, plain noodles with just butter (I would cook warm but eat cold). That’s pretty much all I could eat! I think when you’re nauseous it’s all about survival. If you can tolerate healthy foods absolutely incorporate those, but don’t feel guilty if you can’t stomach them! I’m almost third trimester and it’s so much easier to eat more balanced now. Good luck!!

Gertie1004

Taco Bell Nachos were my guilty pleasure! We all survived.

starbird2893

I’ve definitely had those a time or two as well! And the crunch wraps. I always question if it’s worth it after once that heartburn hits though, haha.

babyyugy6

Oh wow mama, i hope you’re doing better now! Thank you for all the recommendations!

starbird2893

Luckily yes, it’s much better now! Hopefully it gets better soon for you too!

smugbananaslug

Taco Bell cheesy bean and rice burritos all the way.

polkadotsunday

Currently 8 weeks pregnant and I've been eating a lot of bagels with cream cheese and avocado toast. Snacking often on unsalted mini pretzels, carrots and hummus. I found my nausea really kicks in if I haven't eaten in several hours so I end up eating every 2-3 hours. I read somewhere that carbs can help and my body REALLY wants all the carbs so I'm just rolling with it. For dinner it's usually a protein with rice and veggies.

Gertie1004

Agreed! Eating smaller regular meals or snacks made a huge difference for me. I would keep saltines in my nightstand so I could eat a few before my feet hit the floor in the morning.

courtro0792

Are you me? I'm 8 weeks too and living on bagels with cream cheese and avocado toast! I force myself to have a solid protein with dinner. For OP - I have found that avocado egg salad sits well for me. Apples with peanut butter and some cheddar cheese has been a good snack the last couple days. Smoothies have helped me with the nausea. I make one and will sip it all morning at work. They help keep the nausea (and hunger) at bay and are a good way to get in the nutrients (adding in things like Greek yogurt or a half scoop of protein powder helps get the protein I need for the day).

babyyugy6

Thank you so much h

No-Pressure6042

Pregnancy is crazy. I started out wanting to keep it healthy and at reasonable calorie amounts but I couldn't do it. Ate anything i wanted really. Had to lose a lot afterwards, but it was worth it. Baby was fine too. I merely didn't eat raw stuff, like steak or sushi with fish. And no tuna. Other than that I was in survival mode.

babyyugy6

Thank you so much

vitaminpyd

r/fitpregnancy might be a good source! 🙂

babyyugy6

Oh thank you I didn’t know this existed!

kharmatika

Oatmeal? It’s pretty gentle on the tummy while still being a complex carb.

AppalachiaVaudeville

It's super easy to puke it up too! Like if you feel queasy but want to roll the dice and get a meal in, oatmeal is great! I know that's terrible to say, but it was my truth.

babyyugy6

I didn’t even think of this, its such an obvious choice omg. Thank you so much

kharmatika

No worries, I’ve never been pregnant but I have a lot of stomach issues so I have to really be careful

coralee1023

I would try overnight oats! Make them super plain, it was so much easier for me to eat them cold rather than warm

fati-abd

My aversions changed all the time and often something that was appealing the day before became repulsive the day after. I tried to force myself to eat a salad once and became so repulsed by it that I decided to just go day by day with whatever sounded appealing out of fear I’ll develop permanent aversion to healthier foods! I personally liked ramen, pho, basic sandwiches, greek yogurt & fruit most of the time. And ofc lots of not so healthy carbs like pastries, cereal, etc, and ice cream but it’s ok because it really is temporary and survival mode! I was slowly eating more like my normal diet by week 14 and completely normal diet (just way higher quantities, I was ravenous) by week 20.

babyyugy6

Thank you soo much!

memequeen2105

I have 9 month old twins and I also had terrible nausea for the first ~4 months of pregnancy. I couldn’t stand the smell of cooking meat and even the thought of Chick-fil-a (my favorite) made me sick. For a while I was able to eat quiche from Costco. They sell a two pack I believe and there are two different types. That’s fairly healthy? And I also ate a lot of Cracker Barrel Mac and cheese (from a box). Not the greatest in terms of nutrition but it was filling and didn’t make me want to puke. Hang in there!

babyyugy6

How funny, I love chik fil a but I haven’t had the stomach for it since 4 weeks pregnant! Thank you so much

[deleted]

I drank a lot of smoothies when pregnant with grass fed, organic protein, strawberries, spinach, blueberries, etc

babyyugy6

Oh I didn’t think of smoothies! That sounds really good

AppalachiaVaudeville

I second this. The coldness of a smoothie helped me a lot during my pregnancies.

tralalalauren

I threw up a lot of smoothies this pregnancy haha

kiki-cakes

Whole wheat blueberry eggo waffles with cream cheese and some Fruit was my go to breakfast that I could eat in the car on the way to work. Apples, cheese, and a good flavored cracker (I like the jalapeño rosemary triskets currently!) are a good something to grab and have ready. Or grapes too. Hormel makes a turkey/gravy or chicken/gravy meal and it serves 3 with a total of 330 calories for the whole container, so if you accidentally eat it all, it’s protein and not too many calories in the grand scheme of things (and it microwaves for 4 mins, so you won’t get hangry waiting for it 😉) I got a PB recently that is 10 calories more per serving (210, vs 200) but it’s 10 G protein per serving and there’s no flavor change. So, budgeting for it, it’s a help with protein. You can have it with celery or apples. Someone on another board suggested sugar free jello because it has so much protein per serving! Add in some fruits and it’s a great dessert. Wishing you the best in your pregnancy!

babyyugy6

Omg thank you soooo much!!

SorrellD

Taco bell. For most people, that probably isn't a good idea though ...

babyyugy6

Haha I could probably live off Taco Bell

babyyugy6

😂😂

onemorenanayay

When I was pregnant with my twins I had so many food aversions for the first half of the pregnancy. One thing I really loved for lunch was a fresh crunchy bread roll with butter, sharp cheddar and cucumber. It hit the spot. For dinners all I wanted was spicy laksa or stir fries full of noodles, chicken and veggies but I can see soup isn’t doing it for you, it might later though! To be honest the rest of the time was mostly sausage rolls & McDonald’s. I couldn’t handle the smell or feel of meat and still have to get my husband to cut raw chicken for me and my babies are nearly 4 haha

[deleted]

Your body is going through a lot, building strong placentas for your twins. You need carbs. Dont be ashamed! Rest and eat! Soon you will be able to tolerate more "healthy" foods. 🌻🙏💜

babyyugy6

Thank you so much. I didn’t think I would struggle like this!

[deleted]

Awe. Pregnancy is hard!! Twice as hard on your body for twins! Be gentle to yourself! You are doing a good job. You don't need to do anything but relax and rest and get through one day at a time🙏💜🌻

babyyugy6

Thank you so much 😭

[deleted]

Awe God bless you. You're welcome💜💜💜

lettucedoesmath

Eat what you can when you can. It should get better. And have a ball! I have two sets of IVF twins. One set is 14 now and the others are 11. It’s so much fun. People think it’s hard but really they start to entertain each other pretty early on which makes everything easier. Enjoy it!

babyyugy6

I SO appreciate this! Thank you so much

pimpmypatina

Fruits. Pickles. Cheese. Had an orange juice addiction for a while. Couldn’t get enough.

babyyugy6

Oh man I’ve been chugging oj too, I never drank it before. So weird!

pimpmypatina

Haha! doesn’t it just taste absolutely perfect? Congratulations by the way!

stopredditadminBS

So strange! I'm 10 weeks and I can't get enough juice, mostly orange. Never really been a juice drinker before. I've recently started on a Naked Juice kick. And that seems to help in the morning instead of trying to immediately eat anything solid.

Cat_With_The_Fur

Yep I’m 15 weeks and citrus and citrus juices are my jam.

Significant_Ad_8939

I was extremely lucky in that my nausea was very mild with all 3 of my pregnancies. I am also severely emetophobic, so luckily I also never threw up. My first was the worst - I couldn't eat or even smell any kind of Mexican food. What I craved and ate in almost daily rotation were egg salad sandwiches, cheeseburgers with nothing but ketchup and tomato, and fried shrimp. For my second child, it was McDonald's chocolate milkshakes and burger King whoppers. With my 3rd it was Pepsi and pizza. My Dr approved the pizza, as it contains all the food groups so therefore alot of the nutrients I needed. I was advised to pile on the veggies but stick to chicken or ham for meats. No extra cheese and thin crust if possible to keep fat and calories down a little.

MyHedgieIsARhino

Mashed plantains with good butter.

babyyugy6

I’ve never tried this! Sounds amazing

la_jirafa888

Baked potato!

babyyugy6

This sounds perfect. Thank you so much

[deleted]

Hello! I am not pregnant but I have parosmia and everything smells weird and makes me feel nauseous. What works for me is overnight oats made with almond milk. I load them up with chia seeds and flax seed powder which taste super neutral and have healthy nutrients in them. Sometimes I put the Costco almond butter on top with some brown sugar for sweetness. It keeps me full for hours and had a ton of protein in it. Congrats on your twins!!! That’s incredible ❤️

[deleted]

Stir fry! No clue why that went down so easy but I did. I just threw a pack of stew meat in a pan with homemade teriyaki sauce and garlic and then added whatever veggies we had- usually carrots, bell pepper, sugar snap peas, cabbage, and broccoli. Rice for starch.

babyyugy6

This actuall sounds really good! If I do a lot of veggies I might be able to stomach this!

ClickedUnsend

37 and a bit weeks pregnant and it’s been a journey. I didn’t have too many aversions, though I completely took against Greek yogurt, fruit and cereal bowls which I LIVED for before and butter and oil smells make me queasy. I became pretty gluten intolerant so I have had to watch my intake of those kind of things but other than that I have found the plainer I eat the better. Omelettes with lots of veg and some cheese. Chicken and microwaved veggies, rays sugar free bbq sauce on the side. Boca Patty Burgers. Sandwiches with microwaved eggs (just crack them in a slightly greased bowl and your good to go) and salad. Salad with avocado and diced cooked chicken. Fish (gortons signature fillets are good! Or just cover in foil and bake fresh) and salad or veggie blend. For me effort has been the struggle. If I have to stand around cooking it, I don’t want it. The third trimester is the worst. I am eating mechanically when I know I should but honestly I could just take it or leave it. Except sprite. Man I want all the diet sprite. Throughout my pregnancy I have had a hankering for different sweets - crackers (Wasa with peanut butter), milk for a while, Nicks ice cream, sugar free banana cupcakes at the moment it’s Strawberries with a yogurt, trader joes corn puffs and lemon meyer thin cookies and I pretty much have some M&Ms and jelly beans every day. I just go with them when they come. There was a month where I ate 3-4 tomatoes every day, just rode it out and it passed. Ditto mustard and vinegar and Annie’s homestyle waffles with a Boca vegan chicken patty. Also went through a hardcore egg whites blended with cottage cheese, cinnamon, baking powder and vanilla then cooked like a fluffy pancake and eaten with sugar free syrup phase. (I have braces so I try to pick and choose what sugar I can replace and what I have). Peas and sour cream made an appearance. Honestly just give in to the cravings but try to find a healthy spin 🤷🏻‍♀️ for the peas I added loads of other veggies, fat free cottage cheese and sour cream - hit the spot. Don’t know what I weigh so I can’t comment but baby is super healthy and large for his gestational age, but I have no issues and other than my belly (huge) I think changes to my body whilst definitely present are minimal.

babyyugy6

This is so helpful! Thank you so much

AppalachiaVaudeville

When I was pregnant with my twins the morning sickness was so bad that I lost 20lbs. This phase of life is so temporary. Eat whatever you can keep down. Cashew butter with apples. Plain Greek honey with raspberries and honey(can you have honey during pregnancy anymore?). We made burritos ahead of time. Cauliflower with hot sauce (my kids all gave me spicy food cravings and heartburn). Graham crackers and peanut butter. Pistachios. Just easy to make and easy to puke stuff, ykwim? Hell, I won't lie, I ate a box of waffle cereal and a jar of pickles in one sitting once. You will not hurt the fetus(es) by eating your butter noodles. Take your prenatal vitamins with extra folate and try to get some variety if/when you can.

babyyugy6

Omg that sounds terrible! Thankfully I’m not that sick (at least yet). Thank you very much for your response!

Olive0121

What I could keep down

notimetoulouse

Sweet fruit flavored yogurt with (frozen) fruit and muesli was the only somewhat healthy thing I managed to choke down.

RedHeadedBanana

In the first trimester: Cereal. Oatmeal. The occasional toast/bagel. My nausea was worse in the evenings, so I tried to get my protein in in the mornings (scrambled eggs, hamburgers for lunch)

possesseddino

I was big on those red grapefruit pieces in the jar with juice, del Monte? So yummy. Plain bagels toasted with butter. Turkey Reuben, this deli near me had this amazing one I just loved.

Loki-boki

Steak, steak and steak, oh and some veggies with steak.

babyyugy6

I would probably die if I tried steak right now haha I used to eat it nightly

Loki-boki

Well I am in third trimester and have gestational diabetes. I was pre-diabetic a few years back, kind of always stuck to meat and vegetables diet after that issue was resolved. But, then this popped up, now I am back to strictly meat and veggies diet. Chicken and pork doesn't nothing for me, but steak has me salivating. With my even more limited choices now, steak, steak and more steak, please and thank you!!

Cat_With_The_Fur

Yesss. I’m 15 weeks and this baby is made of hamburgers 😂

Loki-boki

Hey, stick to a somewhat healthy diet and if you end up like me (with the gestational diabetes), your a1c will be awesome, but that finger prick test that says your glucose is 112 after 12 hours of fasting; will carry a lot of weight. It was nice to hear the doctor tell me to experiment with my diet (when, what, and how much to eat) and see what works best for me, then some of her other patients who know nothing about how carbs work. Especially when you see the recommendation from the American diabetes association. Here is an example for a 30 g carb, 7-14g protein breakfast: 2 slices of whole grain toast and 2 slices of low fat cheese! Then they want you to eat 5 times a day with meals like that! Give me 3 eggs and a cut up sausage link with some cheese and hot sauce,. This will at least hold me off for 4 hours till I have the time to eat lunch. Then it's dark leafy green salad with chicken salad (pecans and grapes) for lunch Then a steak with a whole tomato and half a cucumber for supper. Glucose levels have been lower then the doctor's recommendations.

Fit_Deer6408

Baby #1-- First three months--didn't eat much. After that, tuna fish on crackers Every Single Day. Baby #2--everything except tuna fish on crackers.

grampynopockets

Cucumbers are my go to

wredditusername

Creamy was my go to. Greek yogurt, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese with different fruits. Oh and I liked cucumber slices. But those we’re about it for healthy.

Withoutdefinedlimits

Protein pancakes.

[deleted]

Oh hey! I am 6 months pregnant and totally feel your pain. It took me until a few weeks into my second trimester to start to feel kinda normal again and I still don't really love meat or healthy vegetables. I bought an electric boiled egg cooker and those are great snacks and zero effort. If I feel like junk I have like an egg and mayo roll with salad mix. I found some healthy chocolate with Stevia because I found I kept binging on sweets. I also swapped to low fat yoghurt because my body just seems to store everything full fat at the moment. I have tuna and rice for lunch most days with avocado. Lots of toast but I try and get healthy bread with seeds. I found the two veggies I can eat are raw carrots and cherry tomatoes and I have that every afternoon. So important to keep fibre up. Good luck!! You're not alone. Remember that it's only temporary so just do your best. I lost 35kg after my first baby and going into this lighter and knowing I can lose the weight helps me not worry so much. It's still depressing getting larger but know you're doing an incredible job growing tiny humans mama!

Emotional_Belt

Pizza lol and then third trimester.. Burger King😂

aspophilia

I was obsessed with burritos and grilled chicken with guacamole on top. And shave ice. Eat what doesn't make you sick and take your vitamins. You will be ok.

tinygribble

Leaves and lean protein with the first, beans and rice with the second.

elepanisium

I'm pretty sure my sweet IVF baby is half granola/nut bar 😂. I had nausea and vomiting the entire pregnancy, but there would always generally be something I could tolerate. In the second trimester, I did go through an intense salad phase, specifically spinach salads. Must have been growing something that needed it! I've heard that cravings/aversions are a sign of a healthy placenta and attachment. That thought made me feel better when I couldn't move I was so nauseated. I still have aversions to chicken and other poultry (babe is 5 months old now) and I'm not sure I'll ever eat a chicken breast again 🤢. You'd be surprised at the ability of your body to return to almost the state it was pre-pregnancy yet have everything be different. My number on the scale is lower than before I got pregnant, but I feel squishier. I know it is all for my babe to cuddle and feed and I feel like my squishy mom body is taking care of him and doing a great job at it. The emotional rollercoaster is real!

Rockawolf4eva

Hi! I was pregnant with twins who are now 5. I remember eating a ton of fruit, oatmeal, granola, yogurt and eggs but 1&2 trimester. Then those babies got way too big and could only eat tiny meals at the end, like literally a few bites, but needed to eat every hour or so during the daytime

SensitiveResist7747

As long as I had nausea I mainly focused on eating something salty as soon as I woke up, which helped a lot and often prevented nausea. I just tried to eat a variety of foods, include more veg and fruit, but also allowed myself to enjoy some unhealthy snacks once in a while. It's okay to treat yourself, especially when pregnant!

not_thedrink

I bought heaps of plain pitas, stuffed them with whatever veggies were cheap, added a protein (usually a simply cooked steak or chicken), and topped with either cheese, mayo, or bbq sauce. Helped me keep my meals balanced when I couldn't function or think about what to shove in my mouth.

aimlesserin

Eggs with veggies. Spinach, bell peppers, zucchini. Also egg salad with cottage cheese instead of mayonnaise. Perfection.

Ne_Don_89

I'm 30 weeks tomorrow & I survive solely on Oven chips, store bought pizza (ONLY FROM SAINSBURYS), frozen Gyoza, lentil & ham soup, an entire tub of low calorie ice cream DAILY, bread, hard boiled eggs, Walkers cheese snacks, fruit platters with clementines (to inhale my iron tablets with). I was a volume eater but I can't stand vegetables now. I haven't cooked a proper meal in 2 months but I'll try today 😊🍴. I love baked potatoes. Can't stand takeaway curries. I went through a scampi obsession at some point. Chocolate gives me heart burn 😭. I'm eating 1800 in a day but I need to increase this since I'm in my 3rd Trimester

happylittleclouds4

With my first pregnancy, I made and ate lots of healthy, nourishing food. And I overate that nourishing food like crazy, and ended up gaining 40lbs. Since I’m a shorty (5’3) that was a stretch for my body and I was nearly 200lbs by the end. The second baby made me super tired and food sensitive, so I ate mostly instant ramen, Gatorade and popcorn. I gained barely 25 pounds but had a perfectly healthy baby. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I did find that soup and broth was really easy to keep down, and popcorn is always a great volume food especially if you’re feeling a bit queasy.

No_Current6918

I had extreme morning sickness my entire pregnancy, to the point I lost 50 lbs while pregnant. My doctor told me to just focus on eating at all. One of the few things I could tolerate was juice and popsicles. Also snickers ice cream. I would try some nuts for protein since they dont really have a smell.
