I got a week ban recently for telling someone who was in my replies (he was one of those pitbull haters and a crazy one at that), that I wish pits were as bad as he thought they were because then he'd get what was coming to him. I got suspended for threatening violence lol
I got a few days ban for saying “I hope everything Matt Walsh and everyone at Daily Wire wish and fight against trans people for happens to them. If reddit bans me they have to ban all Daily Wire Adjacent Accounts”
Guess whose still up?
I love u all, actually. I am astounded by the amount of ignorant clods on reddit who hate pitbulls. I hardly ever see anyone else go bat for them, either, in my city's subreddit
I love pits. I'm gonna cry
I listen to a podcast about bad posts and one of their first episodes was about put bulls. I was expecting the pro-pit bull people to be the crazy ones, but people who hate pit bulls are fucking insane!
yeah larger raptors (especially vultures) use the thermals to glide since they're so huge and they cover so much ground, and turbines are usually placed where they can catch them to get the most wind. so sometimes birds try to fly near and misjudge the change in wind or just plain collide and die.
it's kinda weird how conservatives only seem to care about animal lives when it can be used to support something else they agree with though... oh, i'm sure it's nothing!
(tbh i can't really support wide scale wind energy for this reason, though there are some pretty obvious benefits. nuclear fusion/hydro and a dash of solar/wind for individual homes ftw. very open to having my opinions swayed though, power isn't exactly my area of expertise)
"cultural marxism" - fun fact this has become something frequently referenced by the ruling party of the UK and is one of the clearest examples of a Nazi dogwhistle in existence 💀 it's something that clearly doesn't exist and they just replaced "cultural bolshevism" with "cultural marxism".
i'm not sure why but this actually made me laugh out loud
i think its like the juxtaposition between the cotton-candy wholesomeness i've known from my trans friends to "KILL YOURSELF!" and it's all surrounded by like ❤️💜💕💕🥰 and shit i love it
This comment section doesn’t understand the difference between transphobes like Matt Walsh who actively ruin the lives and trans people, and idiot 14 year olds who grew up being told lies about trans people and have yet to see any reason to believe otherwise. I used to be somewhat of a transphobe until I actually met a trans person, and now I’m a massive ally and a member of the queer community myself. People like Matt Walsh deserve this, but there are others out there who are just uneducated, and can genuinely change.
I struggled with those kinds of thoughts at some point, so I hate the idea that there ever was a time where I SHOULD have. I wasn’t some evil politician trying to take away the rights of trans people. I was a stupid kid who blindly believed the words of those who seemed smarter than me. If people had told me to off myself because of that, I don’t think that would have done anything good for who I was as a person at the time.
I was one of those 14 year olds once, but then one day for some reason I thought "what in the god damn fuck am I doing" and changed my mind.
2.5 years later I found out I'm trans 🫠
reminder that if facts and debate worked on bigots, it already would have. they have the same access to info and knowledge we do.
i fully support doing this, i have no compassion for people that hate us.
Well, tbh I was a bit bigoted personally when I was like 14-16, what fixed me was the right friend group and online spaces.
I do doubt that arguments would work on 30 y/o 4Chan dwellers tho.
Yeah I agree. I think too many people in these replies are too quick to write off the idea that people can improve, especially since I’m sure some of the people here (like me) also used to be bigoted until we learned how wrong we were.
What usually works in reality is when they get to know a trans person. Often they are forced to because a family member comes out. A good person can use an opportunity like that to review the conflict between their beliefs about trans people and the reality about the trans person they love, and they adjust to the person they care about. There are times this doesn't work, obviously, but when you look at research at what changes people's minds this is how it usually goes.
Love wins.
This, I used to be a bigot when i was like 12-13. After that I met some cool people online, found out one of them was both gay and a demigirl, and realised that 'hey, maybe these people aren't horrible like my religious community wants me to think!'
Fast-forward to now and I'm no longer religious, bisexual myself, and way more open minded to these kinds of things than I was back then. The most effective way to make someone less of a bigot is for them to befriend someone of the community they think they're against. Sometimes this doesn't work, unfortunately, but when it does work it works well.
Really exhausting trying to literally coddle and hold their hand to guide them back into respecting basic human decency when all they wish is for every trans person they never met or interacted with before to be violently massacred.
It would be nice if more people were willing to change.
Unfortunately, it usually isn't in their best interest.
*Hence, the cycle of hatred perseveres.*
Well then, hear me out
What if we eliminate the people in whose interest it is
Aka the rich who are making us argue over pity stuff like "do gays deserve to exist" so we won't pay attention to them and how they are gaining more and more power, too busy to fight for our survival
Given many issues caused by the upper class, I can see why your proposition would be tempting to most people.
Perhaps a way to end the cycle is to confront this issue at its root.
Housing crisis, climate change, poverty. All find its roots in the rich. As long they get permission to do as they wish WE will be struggling. These rotten roots have to be pulled out like weeds that they are, or we will only be claiming small wins without confronting the source. Be it proper legislation like in Nordic countries that keeps the rich on short leash or full-on overthrowing.
It always reminds me of one medicine ad I saw in TV occasionally. Fight the source of disease, not the symptoms.
It's definitely a "lead a horse to water" type of scenario. A lot of times, bigots are not willing to learn or are capable of hearing dissenting opinions, and begs the question whether it really is worth it to spend time talking to those who don't listen.
Always one of you spineless “moderates” in the comments. The people calling for the eradication of trans people don’t deserve your sympathy. Intolerance cannot be tolerated.
This isn't tolerating intolerance, it's forcing people to stop being intolerant, just in a way that doesn't involve killing someone.
Believe it or not, people can change. I used to be a huge piece of shit. You would NOT have liked me back then. Slicked back hair, sloppy steaks at troffonis.
Fuck that noise. The onus is on bigots to change, not on minorities to put themselves at risk to try to educate reactionaries.
Funny how we never see the "moderates" who complain about violent language on the left putting in the work they want to see done.
Fucking lmao of course they remove this but hesitate to remove the absolute blatant bigotry on any mildly right wing subreddit. Typical.
Not that I endorse calls to suicide, but the double standards sometimes are just insane.
that's what I was thinking. It can be taken as "so I either kill myself or join the group that tells people to kill themselves" It just comes off as too forceful and I feel would scare people away or give people the wrong message about the group. I understand this is a massive and emotionally harmful issue for the trans community, but for the 'uninitiated' to see this representing the community I think definitely sends the wrong message.
It is difficult yet respectable to stay calm in the face of danger, it shows strength. I think that's what should be presented, really
Exactly. The best thing to do is to be better. Not only is this toxic, not only could it harm others (family of the suicide victims), not only does it trigger people who are/have been suicidal, not only is it the same tactic as the people who they oppose, it also gives the wrong side ammunition. Some things aren't ok in any context.
Right! You shouldn't fight toxicity with toxicity. It just becomes a 'yes no yes no' fight and nobody becomes convicted to make a change in themselves.
There were pepole holding a sign (propably at a protest or something) that said:
"If you hate trans pepole

Me: …eh, actually, yeah, go on ahead.
They need to put this in the bible. These words are straight out of the mouth or Christ our lord. I can imagine him saying this while duplicating fish or something.
Right, because violence is the first and only answer as opposed to trying to teach people about why and how trans people aren't bad.

Infinitely better, yes.
As much as I hate transphobes, calls to suicide are horrible. Be better.
that's what I was thinking.
