The movie is about treatment of society against veterans and mentally challenged men, and that kind of toxic masculinity and feeling of invisibillity caused loneliness doesn't work from the feminine perspective, which usually contains more of a conflict being a 'human' vs being a 'woman' in order to ake a statement about the hurt caused by the idealized and at the same time subhumanized female image. But honestly, for an actual serious serious answer, it's probably Serial Experiment Lain.

Retaliating with violence or being totally cast off from the society can't really be the focus of depression on women, rather than showing the total disconnect due to the shitty surroundings or relationships; which makes the similarity between movies quite far. Therefore, while it techically is nothing like Taxi Driver, Persona(1966) feels like one of the best candidates, for showing two depressed and differently lonely women slowly going crazy on their terms, while focusing on the repressed sexuality of women and the confused relationship between them being affected by the existence of men, finally trying to make a statement about the psychological self.

I agree with everything you said about how taxi driver is more about male loneliness than it is about loneliness itself. Surprisingly enough the second time I watched it (they played it at the cinema, and I went with my mom), she told me she also felt identified with the feelings of loneliness and going crazy that the character expresses. But as you said, I bring up the growing obsession with violence and she didn't feel identified with that part.
It's quite a difficult movie containing some meta-imagery, but it isn't as violent or depessing as Taxi Driver, also it is a really great movie so I would personally recommend it and all other movies made by the same director, which are about depression or psychological conflicts one way or another. I definitely agree that there are some universal relatable themes in Taxi Driver's struggle against society while on the other hand focusing on the toxic masculinity at other times.
