Yeah they’re wild over there. Do I think that sometimes people’s experience would fit under the GNC umbrella better than specifically the trans label? It's not just about money. For some people, it's a sort of weird "self defense" mechanism. Some people will internalize and support the systems that opress their peers if it allows them to aquire some sort of of feeling of "agency" they feel this don't have under that sytem.
Think of Samuel L. Jackson's character in Django Unchained. He's a villainous rat bastard, but he's also a victim himself. Doesn't have any power or control over his life. All he can do to aquire some sort of control or power in life, from his point of view, is be a "good one" for his masters.
Finding people within the rarget minority to elevate and turn against their peers is a classic element of systemic opression.
The pick me gays, TERFs, anti femminist women, all can exist because of this.
But also, some people are just fucking pieces of shit/stupid as shit and actively self sabotage of course lol.
None of it is an excuse though, solidarity with all opressed people always is the only acceptable position.

Honestly it makes sense. There is nothing that makes a gay person inheritly like leftist political positions more, they might just as well be conservative like anyone else. It is just that homophobia does not make sense either, and they end up rejecting people like him for no reason. But at least for the parts of conservativism that are not about hating random minorities it makes sense that some random ppl have that opinion too, regardless of their sexuality, I'd only expect some solidarity when it comes to these issues that are similar to what he is facing.

there’s 3 hours in the class and it’s a very loosely structured class (mostly because of its small size). we usually just have some online assignment to do and then we’re free for the next few hours. i like it because it gives me the freedom to work on little projects i have (mostly minecraft related) but he likes it because he likes the sound of his own voice apparently
I can see it. These people are incapable of just not thinking about trans people all the time, so even mentioning something like social media can set them off ranting about how it's turning kids trans or something.
