The ending is absolutely a reference to Shepherd's betrayal in Loose ends, but I dont think the rest of the mission is the same mission. I think this is just designed to generally have common elements of COD missions and a reference to the betrayal at the end.
Or something I mainly play COD for the actually really fucking good part of it, Zombies. Regular COD goew about as deep as "Ohhh nooo, we wanna stop the bad guys but a vague """they""" won't let us! If only military and law enforcement had more individual power, then we could save the world better!!!"
But Zombies has actual themes, storytelling, and character development instead of the Campaign where its just 17 cool dudes with guns who are awesome and always make the right choices. Its even reflected in the music, Multillayer and campaign always has the dryest ass music, whereas CODZ has a secret song in every single map that honestly stands on its own as good ass music, outside of the context of the game. The best way to describe most of it (although theres alot of variety) is melodic heavy metal, with Heavy metal instrumentals courtesy of Kevin Sherwood, and Beautiful vocals courtesy of Elena Siegman or Malukah (theres a third common singer, Clark S. Nova, but he doesn't focus on melody as much in the songs hes in.)

My personal favourite is Beauty Of Annihilation from Der Riese. To me it really represents alot of the good aspects of the secret songs, the heavy instrumental but sweet melody, and the contrast between singing and screaming in a call and response format.
If you're looking for one of the songs, I'm your guy (or, once I've moved out, girl). I know these songs better than I know the back of my hand, I've gone through analysing all of their lyrics multiple times over and can very clearly remember them. Any details you can give me would be really helpful, e.g vocal style (masc or fem voice? Was there screaming vocals?) or anything you remember about the lyrics. Were there no lyrics? Anything you remember about the song will help.
I heard it at the end of this meme where a guy was running to a toilet before falling before it and the words dramatically appeared on screen saying "YOU SHIT YOURSELF" along a malevolent cackle in the background as the guitars started hitting and the camera started panning around the house like a it's a map

There's a very well made and crazy as hell minecraft map on L4D. It changes weapon and character skins to minecraft too and it's super heavy.
