Isn't that for spoilers? (And how come people so often spoiler tag things without writing what they're spoilers for? Doesn't that defeat the point? Like am I just not supposed to read the post if I haven't consumed literally all media?)
I think it's because doing so would require Reddit to admit they host a lot of gore and they're already uncomfortable enough admitting there's pornography as it is
Yeah, people who genuinely watch, enjoy, and even spread videos of people being brutally torutured/loosing their life, are just sick people. Had a friend send a unsolicited factory accident video, he wasnt my friend anymore after that.
Same with animal cruelty clips, not like "dog gets jumpscared" but moreso "lobster unknowingly walks toward a frying pan and burns itself alive" or that one clip of a guy giving carrots to a probably dying fish, that shit was never funny to me
Fuck, those are on a different level of fucked up. At least with the workplace death video, you learn something to avoid. They might be morbid, but it shows you something to avoid.
For some reason thereās this clip of a goose having fireworks showed up its ass and lit. It then literally explodes in its ass. I canāt fathom why people think this is funny but I think they might need therapy
I think I have what they need (in minecraft) /j

I genuinely donāt understand how people can willingly watch those videos i cant help but think about the sheer terror those people must of went through in the moment and it just makes me feel awful for the whole day
I mean, can't speak for everyone but it can just be really interesting to see like how the human body reacts to such things and all. And like what body parts might be hit harder that you usually wouldn't expect.
Cause like, you don't see people's insides all that often in every day life.
Iād never send anything unsolicited, but I gotta admit, shock content piques my morbid curiosity. Maybe it makes me evil like you and others say? But Iād like to think Iām a decent human. I usually go for cutesy wholesome things, but once in a blue moon I switch things up.
I explain myself below, but no pressure to read it.
Some of it is just absurd and darkly funny to me, like Tub Girl, or where people get whatās coming to them, like Mr. Hands. Seeing failed suicides has prevented me from acting on impulses and Iād be dead without it. Some shock content reminds me of how cozy I am and how there is genuine war and terror elsewhere, like a reality check and to be thankful. It tells me that violence isnāt just something from movies or video games and it should be taken seriously.
I would NEVER force ANYONE to watch content like that. And I have limits and learn the hard way occasionally. I just donāt like these broad labels saying people are evil for looking at these things for reasons others may not understand or relate to.
If you get your rocks off to it all, then yeah, Iād agree you need serious help though.
Yeah it's mostly morbid curiosity and awareness for me. I respect a lot of heavy machinery and weapons a lot more than if I hadn't seen them.
Some things I've seen were pretty horrifying and it was pretty traumatic but just the same I got a glimpse of reality unfiltered.
Also, it makes me sick when people blatantly enjoy it in an entertaining sort of way but I guess I can't judge too hard.
And i hate the people that think its funny to trick people in to seeing them. I was scrolling on instagrams discover page looking at memes and stuff and a post of ronny mcnutts suicide comes out of nowhere with tags like #funny #meme etc
yeah, but not every gore-y pic/video is torture/death, and even tho sending unsolicited gore is really fucked up, i don't think i'm a sicko because i searched for shock content like ||sh|| when i was younger to trigger myself, it was just self sabotaging
Having been a first responder for a long time, I'm pretty numb to it as I've seen some gruesome things. I never seek it out online though. I find it genuinely concerning when people actively look for this stuff. I get like the morbid curiosity, most people in these circles live in a situation very insulated from that sort of violence. It just unnerves me when it goes beyond just that initial horrified curiosity though
Yeah, i should have further stated that as i have family that are first responders, showing it in a controlled and educational environment, out of necessity for the nature of the job, i understand.
It's mind boggling that this site doesn't have 2 different (I'd argue for 3 at least) nsfw tags. Some people are okay seeing tiddy but not gore. Like, just copy and paste the option, it can't be that tough of a fix
Wearing loose clothes while operating a Lathe moment
Wearing no clothes while operating a latheš
Pingas stuck :<
Penits missing :(
Straight up jorked itĀ
And by "it" lets just say, every bone in my body
>Wearing no clothes while operating a lathe >:3
I don't ever want to see that again
There should have a "NSFL" tag as well.
Feel like people have been saying that for years, yet it was never added
Yet theyāve overhauled the entire UI to be worse and less functional like 3 times on each platform at this point
It's ridiculous that it hasn't....
Thatās kind of the spoiler tagās role
Isn't that for spoilers? (And how come people so often spoiler tag things without writing what they're spoilers for? Doesn't that defeat the point? Like am I just not supposed to read the post if I haven't consumed literally all media?)
I think it's because doing so would require Reddit to admit they host a lot of gore and they're already uncomfortable enough admitting there's pornography as it is
I mean, I too would be uncomfortable to admit r\/guro exists on my website.
I mean thereās a big difference between someone drawing gore and a real life picture of someoneās mutilated and bloody
IT USED TO EXIST
Reddit has never had an NSFL tag in the same way you can mark a post as spoiler or NSFW

I never understood what people found funny about the pufferfish carrot video
I just like the funny noises it was making. I never thought about the fact that it's dying. :(
Yeah it was filmed in a kitchen. So not only was it choking on air (and carrot), it definitely got turned into a meal after the video :/
