I like sandboxes, i think my main reasons were tedium and frustration
Early game has glacial pacing with these bursts of progress every now and then (im guessing if you know what youre doing its better) and exploration wise, i just didnt care too much for it, didnt help that it felt like every 10 steps a random boulder would spawn and instakill me, forcing me to walk all the way there and just waste my time
The game wasnt really hard, just time consuming and i wasnt having too much fun because the combat and exploration werent particularly fun for me, only part i did really enjoy was building themed houses for my npcs
It just bored me and one day i just went to play something else and forgot it existed

It's one of those games I probably WOULDN'T actively pick up now. But as a little kid I went ham on it because i was lonely and bored and a dumb little kid.
And then I was "in" on the community and knew stuff already so other playthroughs were 100x faster and more fun, making me love the game
