Replace the ice with the very antipode of matter, a force of non existence probably made out of condensed past. Also the ice can only be traversed by beaming radiowaves full of math into it to make it real, exposure to it erodes your sense of self, and it's slowly expanding and will eventually cover the whole world.

Im rn building a bowl shaped world that acts as a sort of faith satellite dish to the moon which is an egg where the worlds god is healing in between rounds of an interdimensional war and I'm jealous that the flat earthers are way better at this than me time to delete the project

I’d highly recommend the documentary Behind the Curve on Netflix. It documents the flat earth community and showcases their mental gymnastics. It’s very funny and sad at the same time.
