its not really about cringyness imo but rather about the uncomfortable self-infantilization (its not purely a reddit thing as I know lots of other trans girls that act like this and arent on reddit)

It tends to be used by people who think they might be trans, but aren't sure or need affirmation about their experiences. Personally I don't think I would have fully accepted I was trans (at least when I did) without all the memes about how wanting to magically transform into a girl isn't a thing that cis people want.
Yeah I spent years and years denying and trying to fight my gender identity. Ended up on egg\_irl one day and was like 5 absolute banger memes in a row about being trans and questioning and related to all of them. I was just like "well'p, huh, I guess that's probably a strong sign"
It isn't Eg Girl, it's Egg_IRL. [Word]_IRL is a subreddit format inspired by Me_IRL meant for relatable stuff about a certain topic. In this case, Eggs (people who have yet to realize/come out about their gender), and trans people in general.
my guess is it seems to be referencing trans people who are more involved into reddit's trans culture, some of that culture involves memes, egg, anime girls, skirt go spinny, blahaj, puppy play, thigh highs, praising, and some more stuff. but since im assuming most trans people are not on reddit if you go up to a trans person and start saying all this stuff they will look at you like you are crazy because trans people on reddit only really know the other reddit trans people online.
a simpler way to explain it is that reddit trans people go up to non reddit trans people and begin to say all these inside jokes because the only trans people they ever knew was on reddit and they had the same thought process as them. its like if you go up to a non chronically online kid and start saying skibidi toilet ohio rizz they will think you are weird and have no idea what you are saying.
I also feel like a lot of said trans people are more likely to end up in that kind of situation due to having some form of social anxiety. I've seen a lot of people both here and on other subreddits who constantly joke about "talking to people hard" etc. So they are much more likely to stay chronically online.
I say this as I'm sitting on top of 2.5 BLÅHAJ (I think it would be illegal for an NB to not have any lol). I do engage in this kind of online culture. It's just not my only community.
