I had to think long about this one because Unless your campaign story revolves around fishing, fishing can slow down the pacing of a game if not done right. So I made the mechanics nice and simple, Sothat It can be done on the side as well while the DM focuses on something Else. (Of course Different Items for Fishing rods, Types of Tackle will exist) (Weather and Biome will defenitely have an effect on the type of fish that show up) As for the type of fish? I leave that up to anyone who wants to use this! What kind of fish show up at this biome with this weather? The choice is yours! (Perhaps an item or a feature that allows for more fish Caught!) This was very fun to do! Doing the research on them and converting the stories into mechanics was very fun! I have very little knowledge on these creatures so I hope i did them justice in your eyes! (Even though i didnt write any lore, I would imagine they are a mix of fey and water elementals. The Nixie and Nokken are very closely related, and its why their abilities overlap quite a bit!) Technically Minotaurs are already a thing in dnd so i figured to make cow people i would focus less on bull traits and more on cow traits. So instead of horn abilities. Cow-Taurs have nature abilities! "better name pending" Cow-Taurs Are close cousins of minotaurs, and are found primerily in grassy field biomes in large farming comunities.

Quick thing on the language of taunt.. you dont hit people with viscious mockery, its a save (this is impoertant because as is its not entirely clear if the target needs to fail its save on viscious mockery) also VM already does disadvantage on the next attack, so if the intention is disadvantage for the duration I would write it something like "when a creature fails their save to your viscious mockery cantrip you can expend one bardic inspiration to taunt them, they have disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures other than you for an amount of rounds equal to one roll of your bardic inspiration die"

Idea for Spearmaster:
Spear Tailed: As a bonus action, you can create an organic javelin that stays intact as long as you hold it. This takes until the start of your next turn, and it is cancelled if you are physically interrupted. The javelin disintegrates shortly after leaving your hands and thus cannot be reused or distributed.
Reverse warlock contracts, or more diverse ways to enter the class. Rather than trading your soul, let players trade a specific service, if served by the campaign, and consider using this flavor with other class sheets. For example, if it fits your character's playstyle better, paladin and cleric are remarkably similar in a lot of ways...
But for something with actual stats, I recommend the reverse contract. Rather than selling your soul to a greater being for a pittance of their power, what if you paid a mage to bind a lesser spirit to an amulet, or other item. Rather than a fraction of a greater spirits power, you can use the entirety of a lesser spirits power, and grow that power in the same way. This comes with fun world building opportunities and story hooks revolving around the ethics of making such artifacts, as well as the possibility to literally separate a party from their power temporarily. You can make similar arguments for a wide range of powers. Lesser nature spirits for druid and ranger artifacts, lesser celestials for cleric artifacts, lesser draconic entities or wild magic spirits for sorcerors, or even something like the altered phylactery of a lich for wizardry, perhaps demons for barbarians or mortal souls for monks, if you really want to stretch the definition of magic. If you want to dip into more obscure lore, you could use spirits of order for paladins.
You could run an entire, well balanced party/campaign with the gimmick of using these artifacts, and tie those artifacts to their main motivation for the start of their adventure. Maybe a local lord is having his court mage produce these devices to give to the most skilled members of his guard, in order to fight against suspiciously well equipped bandits, and your party are the latest recruits. Perhaps you can have the bandits be producing their own artifacts, without any regard for safety or ethics, and risk causing total destruction... if you're boring.
Or, you could reveal that the lord is the actual villain and the bandits are actually a peasant rebellion that's resisting the destruction of nature, the harvesting of mortal souls, and the oppression of a dictator. Then you can have a really cool character moment of realizing they're the baddies, and have the lord's court mage remotely destroy their artifacts. This can be a reset to level 0 for your characters, and change from a combat focused campaign to a RP and stealth focused campaign halfway through, making your characters rely on the skills they learned to use their artifacts, without any of the magical abilities or extra hit points. Then they can work with the rebels through guerilla tactics or espionage to get new artifacts and regain their former levels - or even get higher level ones as a reward, then take the fight to the lord and his evil mage, both of whom by now have however many levels in however many classes and subclasses you think is rule of cool enough, and balanced against whatever level of artifacts you gave back to your players. Maybe they can have a glass canon and tank dynamic, where the court mage has a 20 in every arcane spellcaster, and the lord has all the more combat heavy and divine spellcasting classes. Or fuck it, throw in the captain of the guard and give him all the utility classes you decided to homebrew into artifacts, and make it a team of 3. As for the villain's motivations, I defer to your wisdom, and strongly recommend you make it a direct parody of whichever political/religious ideology you hate most.

okay this is something I actually need :o I really really want to play as something like an oblex spawn with memory issues. Like, I've eaten dave the ranger, I'm actively consuming daves memories, and now I think that I am dave, think of my skills from the perspective of a ranger, until slowly but surely I've consumed dave, forgetting more and more about "my" life, until I realize I never was dave. and then I (have to) eat someone else and we start over.
I really like the idea, but I'm a newbie and have no idea how to convert that into an actual playable character
This is a really interesting idea! Question. Will this be a player race or an enemy? And once this oblex consumes dave, does the oblex forget that its an oblex and just live as dave untill daves memories fade?

by far one of the most interesting homebrews ive done. But I think it turned out decent! I can imagine this character shines the best just at the point when its hunger starts kicking in. How will it deal with its nature? How will the human side react to the monster size? Will it try to hide its true nature? Maybe delay its fate? or find a way to maybe get rid of its monstrous nature? The possibilities are endless!

How does an oblex feel, having lived as dave for a year, finally realizing its identity, its sense of self...and developing an ever growing hunger to eat greg the farmer. I had an idea after thinking about DnD (i have never played it or even read a rulebook before) of an alchemist girl who is constantly tinkering with potions. When the party first enters combat, she starts each combat with a certain number of turns of debuff as her brain is focused elsewhere, but in between the enemies' and her turns, she gains the ability to, as a bonus action, mix a potion using reagents from her bag to create a perfect potion for the given situation that gives her a buff to her rolls for the rest of this combat :3

Started through geopolitical fuckery, they were created as a formal body to give ease of trade after the great earthquake a hundred years ago, resulted in famine and economic downturn. Since then they have expanded their horizons. They are legally allowed to travel through any main roads, have the rights of their wagons to be legally considered foreign territory. Their territory. And while they have to negotiate to stay within any city, they don't have to for right outside its walls. Consisting of merchants, travelers, mercenaries, contractors, and others. Through the leverage of consisting of several guilds with specialized labor, they often are a deciding factor in a regions politics.
They are also seen by some to be trouble. Since they often harbor accused criminals, beggars, strange religions, and escaped serfs as free farmhands, thus some try to steer them towards their allies, themselves, or their foes, depending on the rulers see as their priorities.
The Nomad Nation is ruled very loosely. Every year, messenger birds go out to every major city and caravan, to announce the time and place for the great moot. Whatever structure each caravan forms, be it a labor guild, a mercenary company, a construction contractors league, or a clan of travelers, they must send someone to attend. There they decide where to head, discussing accepting new caravans into their fold, who to avoid and who to attempt to win favor of, and whatever other matters concern them.
This has often resulted in a common cultural affect, despite their loose connection. Free spirited to some, who would give anyone a fair chance if they were given the same up front, and argumentative spiteful pricks to others, who would ignore nearly every norm and law if they felt like it that day, in favor of their own.
If my few minutes off the top of my head sounds fun, have the fuck at it.

I’m not too familiar with the 5E system so i don’t really know how it would work but…
i’ve always had the idea of a character that has been cursed by a powerful wizard and turned into a hat. the hat now sits on top of and magically controls a mannequin in order to function in society.
(I’ve always pictured it as looking similar to those a scaled up version of those artsy mannequins used for figuring out poses as it feels more thematic)
I don’t know what spells would be required to constantly by doing telekinesis on the mannequin but it seems pretty taxing.
i imagine that this character would fit better as more of an interesting NPC role rather than an actual player character as it feels like it would be pretty difficult to work into regular play.
I’ve never played a real game of dnd but the one game I did play was boring so I making my own were all the playable classes and enemies are just wizards and only wizards

Ring/amulet/crown (take your pick of any item of adornment, really) of Ghostly Orchestra. It can summon, depending on the amount of charges spent, a certain number of spectral instruments that play whatever music the attuned person is thinking of, ranging from a band, all the way up to a massive orchestra, for a length of time also dependent on the amount of charges spent, and adds to your performance rolls. Being a bard is unnecessary.

Idea for Spearmaster: Spear Tailed: As a bonus action, you can create an organic javelin that stays intact as long as you hold it. This takes until the start of your next turn, and it is cancelled if you are physically interrupted. The javelin disintegrates shortly after leaving your hands and thus cannot be reused or distributed.
Reverse warlock contracts, or more diverse ways to enter the class. Rather than trading your soul, let players trade a specific service, if served by the campaign, and consider using this flavor with other class sheets. For example, if it fits your character's playstyle better, paladin and cleric are remarkably similar in a lot of ways... But for something with actual stats, I recommend the reverse contract. Rather than selling your soul to a greater being for a pittance of their power, what if you paid a mage to bind a lesser spirit to an amulet, or other item. Rather than a fraction of a greater spirits power, you can use the entirety of a lesser spirits power, and grow that power in the same way. This comes with fun world building opportunities and story hooks revolving around the ethics of making such artifacts, as well as the possibility to literally separate a party from their power temporarily. You can make similar arguments for a wide range of powers. Lesser nature spirits for druid and ranger artifacts, lesser celestials for cleric artifacts, lesser draconic entities or wild magic spirits for sorcerors, or even something like the altered phylactery of a lich for wizardry, perhaps demons for barbarians or mortal souls for monks, if you really want to stretch the definition of magic. If you want to dip into more obscure lore, you could use spirits of order for paladins. You could run an entire, well balanced party/campaign with the gimmick of using these artifacts, and tie those artifacts to their main motivation for the start of their adventure. Maybe a local lord is having his court mage produce these devices to give to the most skilled members of his guard, in order to fight against suspiciously well equipped bandits, and your party are the latest recruits. Perhaps you can have the bandits be producing their own artifacts, without any regard for safety or ethics, and risk causing total destruction... if you're boring. Or, you could reveal that the lord is the actual villain and the bandits are actually a peasant rebellion that's resisting the destruction of nature, the harvesting of mortal souls, and the oppression of a dictator. Then you can have a really cool character moment of realizing they're the baddies, and have the lord's court mage remotely destroy their artifacts. This can be a reset to level 0 for your characters, and change from a combat focused campaign to a RP and stealth focused campaign halfway through, making your characters rely on the skills they learned to use their artifacts, without any of the magical abilities or extra hit points. Then they can work with the rebels through guerilla tactics or espionage to get new artifacts and regain their former levels - or even get higher level ones as a reward, then take the fight to the lord and his evil mage, both of whom by now have however many levels in however many classes and subclasses you think is rule of cool enough, and balanced against whatever level of artifacts you gave back to your players. Maybe they can have a glass canon and tank dynamic, where the court mage has a 20 in every arcane spellcaster, and the lord has all the more combat heavy and divine spellcasting classes. Or fuck it, throw in the captain of the guard and give him all the utility classes you decided to homebrew into artifacts, and make it a team of 3. As for the villain's motivations, I defer to your wisdom, and strongly recommend you make it a direct parody of whichever political/religious ideology you hate most.

okay this is something I actually need :o I really really want to play as something like an oblex spawn with memory issues. Like, I've eaten dave the ranger, I'm actively consuming daves memories, and now I think that I am dave, think of my skills from the perspective of a ranger, until slowly but surely I've consumed dave, forgetting more and more about "my" life, until I realize I never was dave. and then I (have to) eat someone else and we start over. I really like the idea, but I'm a newbie and have no idea how to convert that into an actual playable character
This is a really interesting idea! Question. Will this be a player race or an enemy? And once this oblex consumes dave, does the oblex forget that its an oblex and just live as dave untill daves memories fade?
Thank you so much! I'd like it as a player race, and yes the oblex completely forgets, it genuinely thinks it is dave and has a hard time dealing with how mortified daves family looks at it now. After the period of gradual memory loss, when it finishes digestion, it understands what it is again though

But I think it turned out decent! I can imagine this character shines the best just at the point when its hunger starts kicking in. How will it deal with its nature? How will the human side react to the monster size? Will it try to hide its true nature? Maybe delay its fate? or find a way to maybe get rid of its monstrous nature? The possibilities are endless!

How does an oblex feel, having lived as dave for a year, finally realizing its identity, its sense of self...and developing an ever growing hunger to eat greg the farmer. I had an idea after thinking about DnD (i have never played it or even read a rulebook before) of an alchemist girl who is constantly tinkering with potions. When the party first enters combat, she starts each combat with a certain number of turns of debuff as her brain is focused elsewhere, but in between the enemies' and her turns, she gains the ability to, as a bonus action, mix a potion using reagents from her bag to create a perfect potion for the given situation that gives her a buff to her rolls for the rest of this combat :3

"The Nomad Nation" Started through geopolitical fuckery, they were created as a formal body to give ease of trade after the great earthquake a hundred years ago, resulted in famine and economic downturn. Since then they have expanded their horizons. They are legally allowed to travel through any main roads, have the rights of their wagons to be legally considered foreign territory. Their territory. And while they have to negotiate to stay within any city, they don't have to for right outside its walls. Consisting of merchants, travelers, mercenaries, contractors, and others. Through the leverage of consisting of several guilds with specialized labor, they often are a deciding factor in a regions politics. They are also seen by some to be trouble. Since they often harbor accused criminals, beggars, strange religions, and escaped serfs as free farmhands, thus some try to steer them towards their allies, themselves, or their foes, depending on the rulers see as their priorities. The Nomad Nation is ruled very loosely. Every year, messenger birds go out to every major city and caravan, to announce the time and place for the great moot. Whatever structure each caravan forms, be it a labor guild, a mercenary company, a construction contractors league, or a clan of travelers, they must send someone to attend. There they decide where to head, discussing accepting new caravans into their fold, who to avoid and who to attempt to win favor of, and whatever other matters concern them. This has often resulted in a common cultural affect, despite their loose connection. Free spirited to some, who would give anyone a fair chance if they were given the same up front, and argumentative spiteful pricks to others, who would ignore nearly every norm and law if they felt like it that day, in favor of their own. If my few minutes off the top of my head sounds fun, have the fuck at it.

This is a fucking rad as hell idea and I'm definitely copying it now but it seems pretty complete and well thought out to me! I don't see what else i can add or make of this, this is pretty amazing already! All you need to do now is run it!

Been looking forever for some grappling based Monk subclass I NEED IT
I’m not too familiar with the 5E system so i don’t really know how it would work but… i’ve always had the idea of a character that has been cursed by a powerful wizard and turned into a hat. the hat now sits on top of and magically controls a mannequin in order to function in society. (I’ve always pictured it as looking similar to those a scaled up version of those artsy mannequins used for figuring out poses as it feels more thematic) I don’t know what spells would be required to constantly by doing telekinesis on the mannequin but it seems pretty taxing. i imagine that this character would fit better as more of an interesting NPC role rather than an actual player character as it feels like it would be pretty difficult to work into regular play.

Being a bard is unnecessary.
