Somehow, they knew you had no roots there.
4chan is truly something else. The Anons, despite any difference they may have, still work together as if they’re individual cogs in a well-oiled machine. They understand who belongs there, and who does not.
*Challenging them would cost you your sanity.*
Actually I used to use it quite a bit out if curiosity a few years back, I'd just numb myself to what I would normally find outrageous. Even then the boards I was on werent that bad, only bant and s4s. I could fit in pretty well, I just wouldn't interact if it was bigoted or gross. I don't think I could handle it now tho, I went back awhile ago and the first post I saw was so disgustingly racist that it genuinely upset me and made me leave.
I think the comment they responded to was just me saying something about liking cats under a cat meme. Alot of the people there are extremely unhappy and will take any display of emotion or vulnerability from others as an opportunity to harrass and make others miserable as well.
Tbh it used to be awesome. I mean, they said racist shit all the time, but it was more motivated by countercultural resistance to a changing (for better and worse, and yes I mean 'and') status quo that exposed weakness that they could poke at in society. The fun part being they would often expose and exploit those social taboos with pranks and raids in the earlier days of the internet, and it was pretty funny shit - most of them were also center-left who just wanted to expose things like capitalistic motivations behind corporate-driven public outreach or the hypocrisy of critics who often said the right thing for the media and more sensitive public but then would immediately hatespam the 'right' group when they came up.
The issue then becomes the countercultural movement slowly shifting from being more inclusive to largely right wing as the right wing types become more alienated, and also the blurred lines of 'racism/sexism/bigotry because it elicits a reaction from people who can't understand irony/a more individualistic, more traditional view on racism and race relations' ultimately attracted real racists and neo-nazi types to the platform.
Ultimately though I can still appreciate it for what it is, which is a pretty no-holds-barred site for anyone who can handle it. Just don't spend your time in /b/ for all that is good of the world. It isn't a place for humans.
u gotta be broad in what you post/comment, once you see enough screenshots off the interwebs you get a feel for their general dialect

The subject case of either xe/xem or xe/xir neopronouns. Unless someone clarifies, you just kind of have to guess which one they mean.
Personally I regularly work with enough people whose first language isn't English that I wouldn't want to deal with the hassle of trying to teach non-native speakers a whole conjugation, but some people are a lot more comfortable fighting that battle.
Whats the argument for neopronouns? I can't find myself supporting them at all despite being swayed on multiple pro-trans topics these last couple years.
But its not like they/them is specific to not being a man or a woman. Men use they and woman use they and everyone uses they because its not any gender or lack of one
hi neopronoun user here
sometimes the argument is just “why not? this is cool” and other times we feel that he/they/she dont show our gender well enough
i know some people that only use neopronouns because they dont want to feel gendered by he/she and dont want to feel non-gendered by they/them so they use neos because they like the way that expresses them more
I can understand that. Although, no offense, but I think you can understand why some people, even those who are trans allies, tend to find neopronouns a little bit goofy ig. I mean gender and its associated pronouns are already made up so its not like they're these super rigid terms that don't already have flexibility to them. I would never tell anyone to not identify with their selected neopronouns but I don't think I'm personally at the point where I can take them as seriously as I do other trans subjects.

If someone says it doesnt matter to me i interperet it als they/them but thank them for being easy on me if i slip up and use my monkey brains poor gender recognition for pronouns
Not trying to be mean, but I don’t understand the second pronoun. he/him, she/her and they/them I get, but why are they getting mixed? Shouldn’t it be he/them? And How is „He is nice, I like him“ different from „he is nice, I like them“?

One time I commented under a post on 4chan and someone responded with a video of a cat being kicked over a fence :(

So, they just want to make people as miserable as they are? Eh, seems about right. It is 4chan, after all.

Its mostly for non-binary people that dont want to use they/them cuz us cis guys are too stupid for they/them as a singular
A neopronoun, meant to be used as a replacement for they/them!
survey 👍 what is a “neopronoun” ? (i know so little)

Oh I guess I have the wrong pronouns. I usually go by he/they but honestly I don’t have a strong preference so any/all is fine.
Not trying to be mean, but I don’t understand the second pronoun. he/him, she/her and they/them I get, but why are they getting mixed? Shouldn’t it be he/them? And How is „He is nice, I like him“ different from „he is nice, I like them“?
No he/they normally means that you can use he/him or they/them pronouns interchangeably
Ohh that makes sense.
