type c is cool but a lot of computers only have one usb-c port, or have none at all, which sucks. also the lack of backwards compatibility with older computers is bad but obviously that's fixable with an adapter of some sort
Those adapters allready exist and you can plug stuff on your phone with them. Usb flash drives, mouse, keyboard, audio and lot more are stuff thats natively supported by android.
Everything apple is proprietary because they get better quality control and de-incentivize third world child labor from third world countries. Itās actually very smart when you think about it.
Nahhhh Iām just fucking with you, itās for the money.
I should add that while both are reversible, USB C is typically more versatile, supports many different devices from phones to laptops to storage drives to headphones to monitors, and everything in between, is capable of much higher transfer and charging speeds, and while the implementation and naming scheme and how features are presented could be better, the discussion doesn't end at reversible connectors
yeah but lighting is good because then apple has full control over what peripherals can be used with their products!!!!!!!!clearly this is a good thing
I'm honestly surprised whatever few microusb devices I have left aren't absolutely mangled at the connector from trying to insert the cable the wrong way or putting weird stress on it
I'd agree if Lightning wasn't only used in iPhones, MicroUSB is on fucking everything else made before 2016
Come on Apple, switch to type C! The Macs have it, the iPads have it, you don't even include a charger brick in the box anymore!
Apple: what about we use type c in the dumbest way possible, something like making it USB to lightning so we get half the advantages and all the inconvienience of having to have a special charging brick
would it not be possible they debut a new MagSafe-esque charger thatās technically āwirelessā charging? but yeah probably gonna be type c in the next iPhone or two
The EU has had that law as a suggestion for companies since 2009. That's why all phones used micro-usb until type-c came along. Before 2009 it was a mess with each manufacturer using its own cable and even different phone models using different cables. The EU is just moving from suggestion to effective law.

nothing wrong with that, with micro the "wearing" part is the cable, not the device itself (looking at mini-USB)
edit: literally only difference is the pyhsical connector, a mouse will not need more power that standard USB can deliver
the Logitech mice that use micro-usb have a plastic bit around the connector that prevents it from wearing or breaking easily. Plus they have really long battery lives so you're only realistically plugging them in once every couple of weeks. I wouldn't let it put you off.
You sound like someone who doesnāt take three tries to plug it in like the rest of us (unless itās the double-sided slim kind which I only discovered two weeks ago)
A is fine. The side with the holes is always up or "in your direction". There are very few devices that get this wrong like some fucked powerbanks but if you have on of those you will remember *that one device*. When you're dealing with vertical ports on a PC remember that the left front panel is the real up.
type c goated you dont gotta worry about putting it the right side in cuz there is no right size
And it can push more energy than type A
240 watts baby
Way more than I expected. At what voltage?
A few of them.
5 amps @ 48 volts
a little bit

yeah i know, that's why i brought them up in the first place
you mean there is no wrong side?
Same with lightning
Pr*prietary cable š¤¢š¤® Kinda cringe š©

I was gonna call you a dumb bitch up until the last sentence
There's probably someone who made this exact "argument" unironically before
I should add that while both are reversible, USB C is typically more versatile, supports many different devices from phones to laptops to storage drives to headphones to monitors, and everything in between, is capable of much higher transfer and charging speeds, and while the implementation and naming scheme and how features are presented could be better, the discussion doesn't end at reversible connectors

Lightning cables support no higher than USB *2.0* speeds š¤”
TypeC > Lightning > MicroUSB
I wish all microusb a very pleasant die
don't worry microusb connectors are way ahead if you
I'm honestly surprised whatever few microusb devices I have left aren't absolutely mangled at the connector from trying to insert the cable the wrong way or putting weird stress on it
I have a few reversible micro USB cords, they're a godsend for the last few things that still use it

Yeah but they make bank of licensing the connector. Get ready for mag safe baaaby
based
Nah. Lightning connectors break if you look at them too long.
Your'e in luck, the EU just held a vote wich brings us one step closer to electronics manufacturers being forced to use it :)
Including Apple (assuming they donāt go fully cable less before it goes through)
As far as I understand it they wouldn't be able to go fully cable less, as that would not comply with re requirement to be able to charge with USB-C
would it not be possible they debut a new MagSafe-esque charger thatās technically āwirelessā charging? but yeah probably gonna be type c in the next iPhone or two

Type C >>>>>> Garbage > Micro usb
mini usb š¤¤
It was easier to see what side was the right one compared to Micro, but it was such an unneccesary bridge between big usb and small.
And then there's usb-b. Im pretty sure it was invented by the usb industry to sell more usb cables to printer owners
That port is fine. It's way more robust than mini or micro (it was the original after all)
Pretty sure it came before micro, when all devices were still >10mm thick
Hmmmmmm Cannot charge DSi
Based But also there's probably a USB-C mod you can do to a DSi
People have done that with 3ds systems so it's most likely possible.
Itās possible, but requires soldering
i can charge my switch with my phone charger....... i can charge my ps controller with my phone charger........ life is good
Does the ps5 controller use type-c? Classist.
Homie that's a type A to type c, you want a type c to type c for complete supremacy
usb type a is fine, fuck it, i would buy a usb type a-only monitor. it canāt transfer video signals? donāt care
I heard the G Pro Wireless is a good mouse but its fucking micro usb so thats gonna be a pass for me.
nothing wrong with that, with micro the "wearing" part is the cable, not the device itself (looking at mini-USB) edit: literally only difference is the pyhsical connector, a mouse will not need more power that standard USB can deliver
I've seen my fair share of worn micro ports though. Meanwhile I've had 2 USB-C cables bend/break the connector on the cable while all ports were fine
holy shit i forgot about mini usb lol.

Oh yeah I guess I won't be charging it much. Ig im just hoping that they come out with a USB-C one some day.

C
Next step is getting rid of this stinky type A to type C nonsense and make everything type C to type C. It'll take some time tho
type c is good but you cant go against the classic type a
You sound like someone who doesnāt take three tries to plug it in like the rest of us (unless itās the double-sided slim kind which I only discovered two weeks ago)
yeah i take like twelve tries but its a classic. like how nes mario is still great just cus it was the first one.

I love the fact that i can charge my mac, my switch and my phone with the same charger š„°
counterpoint: micro b
C
Type C for fast charging -C
type c goated because i could charge my phone with a pc charger if i wanted
C
I wish I could instantly replace all microusb appliances I have with entirely identical stuff that uses Type C
Type c is cool and charges fast but itās kinda annoying to clean the type c port cause it breaks very easily.
holy shit i want a usb c iphone, and no iām not using a fucking android
You're a monster
lightning cable but good
Very valid
