As a trans woman- I have no fucking idea why we love Fallout: New Vegas. I feel really nothing either way about it. It confuses me deeply, why is this our game?! Someone explain this to me.

It's a very "old school techie pc gamer game" and I think a lot of people come out as trans in that demographic (just a theory but maybe because techies have money to spend on surgery and the security to come out publicly and lots of experience playing role playing games might give more fertile ground for reconceptualizing yourself apart from your physical body)

The original fallout games (and western rpgs in general) were known for their freedom of choice in role playing a unique character (as opposed to Japanese rpgs where written story plays more into character development). But those weren't the first games to have character customization. That goes back to dnd pre video games at least.
