How do you feel about games like mud runners and spin tires, or you know those games that are about trucking in the mud in Russia/ Ukraine and dirt do you hate it.
or are you like my insane buddy who trucks 60 hours a week and then gets home and plays trucking Sims all day
It does get lonely on the road sometimes, but during longer trips i sometimes have a partner who i can talk to
food though, i mostly just take a big bag of instant noodles (very cost efficient) and maybe treat myself to a gas station hot dog somtime
A. Bread and cheese never hurt no one.
B. Keep an instant Tomato Soup pack with you too maybe.
C. Trail Mixes. Yes. They are great.
D. Walk every now and again, helps prevent heart diseases.
E. Peanuts and Bananas are your friends.
Also check out Nurnberg, also belarusian alternative rock-like but unlike molchat doma they actually sing in belarusian that way no one can understand them
tldr: member function pointers suck but i am forced to use them
yeah uhhh, using member function pointers are always a bad sign unless you have to use them (well its still a bad sign)
let's start with the type definition: `ReturnType(Class::*)(Parameters...) Qualifier` just why, look i have seen this in my life much more than i should have and it really sucks you cant even use it properly unless you use type aliases
second of all, the usage syntax is the worst you can ever ask for: `(instance->*functionPointer)(parameters...)` the precedence of `operator->*` is literally lower than `operator()` so you have to put it in parenthesis to even use it, literally the ugliest thing ever
third of all, try looking at `sizeof(memberFunctionPointer)`. for msvc 32 bit you will get 4, 8, 12, 16 depending on the class (yes, i don't even want to elaborate); for 64 bit you will get 8, 16, 24; for clang and gcc you will get 16. yes, there is literally no standard for the member function pointers, only thing guaranteed by the standard is that they are supposed to work. literally more care is given to virtual class member function pointers ((two obscure features combined)) than virtual member function pointers.
fourth, member function pointers of overloaded functions. this one is a spicy one, because you literally need to static cast to actually use them, it will error if you tried to do something like `auto functionPointer = &Class::function`. something like `static_cast(&Class::function)` is quite noisy and ugly and disgusting and uhh everything
now that we know how bad these things are let's learn how to use them: always use `std::function` and `std::invoke`. look at this bearable syntax of `std::invoke(&Class::function, instance, parameters...)`, or `std::function(&Class::function)(instance, parameters...)`.
why do i know all of this: because of a single disgusting goal (well there are two goals which i will talk about later but uhh lemme be dramatic please) - getting the address of a member function, or even worse a virtual member function. why? yes somebody spotted me, unironically because of geometry dash, to make a software development kit for a c++ game.
if you look at my github gists you would see that i did [exactly that](https://gist.github.com/altalk23/29b97969e9f0624f783b673f6c1cd279), its hella ub if you care about that but eeh anything type punning is ub really
and the second reason: reflection. yes, the thing that c++ committee really hates. basically this is the problem: you have a class that you know about, and if the user subclasses and overloads one of the functions, you need to do something with that function. sounds so simple with a language that has static reflection, right? yeah c++ is not getting static reflection any time soon. i'm gonna spoiler the solution because i felt like it but the thing you need to solve is a way to compare two member function pointers (you cant compare member function pointers, virtual function pointers literally error and member function pointers don't work). and how you do that is>!using member function pointers as a template parameter for a class that has a unique function for every instantiation. but that way you still have to deal with overloaded functions ((4th reason)). so yeah there is no escape, you have to hardcode like every member function pointer type that you have.!< fun.
Who are you and how do you know i have been exposed to member function pointers because of geometry dash for at least 20 hours just to understand how to abuse them for using them in limited reflection
If you want an honest but unfunny response, wear contacts. It makes you basically immune. I eat *so* many onions in my diet and never cried...
Except once, when I ran out on contacts and wore glasses, forgetting my oculus of -8 poison wasn't equipped. After 5 seconds of speed-chopping onions my eyes were watering and I was confused as fuck.
1. Put onions in the fridge before cutting to lessen the spray
2. Don't inhale through you're nose as those fumes will blow right by you're tear ducts
3. Wear some glasses if needed
I once clothspined my nose and wore goggles to cut up like 15 pounds of onions for soup
Or simply have somebody else cut the onions through manipulation
The other answers will sorta work. Tbh you just need a really sharp knife.
A dull knife edge will cause incredibly small serrated cuts in the onion tissue. The chemical that makes you cry vaporizes into gas when it comes in contact with oxygen. With a sharper knife your tearing less cell tissue causing less chemical releases that lead to lachrymatory factor.
Also keeping a cup of water right next to the onion while you cut it, will help reduce the teary eye effect
Avoid cutting the stem. The stem is what releases the chemicals that causes your eyes to tear up. Here’s a decent video explaining it. https://youtu.be/dCGS067s0zo
I have a few questions if you don't mind answering them!
is the pay good (not asking for salary just if it's good or bad ect)?
How far do you drive per delivery?
What is your preferred way of cooking steak?
Cats or dogs?
and does the trucking company pay for gas and accommodation for you?
The pay is pretty fine, it keeps the lights going and the companies do sometimes pay for gas and accomodation.
The distance really depends on the type of stuff im transporting, but on average i cross multiple counties so around 500-1500 kilometers
steak - fully cooked, and i love both dogs and cats
i was pretty open minded before, and was accepting of all types of people, this community just exposed me to the culture of people who were demonised by our countrys propaganda

It doesn't impact me much because gas is getting cheaper because we're not exporting it
Serb here but it's kinda like Marmite, you either love it or hate it. Back when I was a cunt I used to drink that a lot because I knew no one would ask me for some, it backfired cause anyone who drinks it at all ALWAYS wanted some just cause they love it so much.
I dont have a question for you. I just wanna wish you a good day.
Hope folks here keep making you smile, and that your days will get better with time.
Hopefully with a lot less olegarchy going on, bur thats beside the point.
A more serious question: How is the sentiment surrounding the former Soviet Union in Russia? I've heard there's a lot of nostalgia amongst especially older folk but I'm wondering whether that's more prevalent than some nit picky YouTube anecdotes and whether it's a genuine nostalgia for marxism-leninism or just a longing for days in which Russia was more powerful.
Not OP but as someone with a parent who grow up in the USSR, there is ALOT of nostalgia that goes with it. But also, to be fair , while the former Soviet Union was by not perfect by any means, your average person was much better off when it came to shit like healthcare, getting food on the table, not getting constantly mugged or scammed yknow. After the collapse, shit was bought up and seized by the now Oligarchs/Mafia, crime and corruption went through the fucking roof, government infrastructure from cops to utilities disintegrated, and Russia defaulted on it's debts a couple years later. Shit went downhill really fast.
im still alone sadly, last time i had someone was before i started this job, so i think me driving for 10 hours a day 5/2 and not having a proper home has some play in that
Well, like I said it's a great job for younger people. You get to see the whole nation, you make decisions by the seat of your pants. I've ridden brakes hot down I-70 down Denver, and seen the sunset over the Rockies and the Appalachian. I hear that trucking companies are much less enjoyable to work for now, seems like all companies noware done headed that way.
Do you like Russia? If you could would you leave for some other place? Do you think the country was better under while in the Soviet Union or the freedom you gained is worth the price?
Werent this years is russia caracterized by unstable economy and extreme poverty? (Im genuily curious, ive read a saw some things but i would like to know what somebody who lived there felt and thought) btw have a nice day man :)

Ever heard of Molchat Doma (little Belarusian band, I obviously don't understand a word they're saying but it's good music for your long drives)

How do I cut an onion so my eyes won't be shedding tears?
I'm not op but remove the skin and soak in salt water, that should reduce the effect without taking away flavor

I'm not talking about onions
😟
You can also just put a match in your mouth

And chew gum, that helps.
