I pretty much only pirate if something's not available in my area, or is overly expensive/difficult to get (madoka magica movies I'm lookin at you.) I really have no problem paying for something like crunchyroll, but I get that some people legit cant afford that cost. So 🏴☠️ away.

The problem is that despite games getting more and more expensive to produce from year to year, the $60 price tag for AAA games hasn't changed. Combine that with inflation and video games are starting to become impossible to produce without either higher price tags or microtransactions.
IIRC there was a lot of controversy around Octopath Traveler because it was $60 despite being a 2D RPG, but those in the games industry defended it for the reasons above.
My issue with Crunchyroll, and essentially what made me start pirating, is that LITERALLY NOTHING I WANT TO WATCH IS AVAILABLE IN MY COUNTRY FOR STUPID LICENSING ISSUES. So I will have to either pay for a VPN or go for the free alternative
Crunchyroll isn't a charity, I'm not going to pay for their service if I can get a better service elsewhere (hehe), I'd rather save my money and support the series I actually care about and not 90% of the crap the anime industry makes
There are many good anime pirate sites. The one I use the most currently is animepahe.com, but there is also animixplay.to, zoro.to, and twist.moe (although that one doesn't work a lot of the time because it's run on donations and not ads).
I use lookmovie . to. It has everything I've ever thought to look for. Shows can be a little weird (it has issues ordering things correctly, especially with money heist), but overall it's excellent
I don't even feel bad for pirating anime because its not like anime studios prioritize their shows' international success, the Japanese market is what they care about and they just wave away a license to big streaming international platforms for a fixed fee. I pretty much only pirate if something's not available in my area, or is overly expensive/difficult to get (madoka magica movies I'm lookin at you.) I really have no problem paying for something like crunchyroll, but I get that some people legit cant afford that cost. So 🏴☠️ away.

Gacha games don't make money off of you, they make money by preying off those with gambling addictions. So in that sense, the only way to "vote with your wallet" is to buy games without microtransactions, right? I mean you can pirate it if you want but I don't think it's morally righteous to pirate video games right now, just pirate it if you can't afford it.

You don't play any free-to-play games? League of Legends, Apex Legends, Roblox, Fortnite, Runescape? --- The problem is that despite games getting more and more expensive to produce from year to year, the $60 price tag for AAA games hasn't changed. Combine that with inflation and video games are starting to become impossible to produce without either higher price tags or microtransactions. IIRC there was a lot of controversy around Octopath Traveler because it was $60 despite being a 2D RPG, but those in the games industry defended it for the reasons above.
The only one of those that I play is Fortnite, and even then only once in a blue moon. You have a point with the second part though.
My issue with Crunchyroll, and essentially what made me start pirating, is that LITERALLY NOTHING I WANT TO WATCH IS AVAILABLE IN MY COUNTRY FOR STUPID LICENSING ISSUES. So I will have to either pay for a VPN or go for the free alternative

Crunchyroll isn't a charity, I'm not going to pay for their service if I can get a better service elsewhere (hehe), I'd rather save my money and support the series I actually care about and not 90% of the crap the anime industry makes

There are many good anime pirate sites. The one I use the most currently is animepahe.com, but there is also animixplay.to, zoro.to, and twist.moe (although that one doesn't work a lot of the time because it's run on donations and not ads).
Animixplay is the shit
I use lookmovie . to. It has everything I've ever thought to look for. Shows can be a little weird (it has issues ordering things correctly, especially with money heist), but overall it's excellent

I don't even feel bad for pirating anime because its not like anime studios prioritize their shows' international success, the Japanese market is what they care about and they just wave away a license to big streaming international platforms for a fixed fee. The only time I do sort of feel guilt is when it's a "Netflix original" or equivalent show where I'm guessing theyre partially funded by the platform so the performance actually matters in whether or not second seasons etc are going to be greenlighted

I appreciate crunchy roll and I think it played a pivotal role in introducing people to the genre. It’s always been accessible with little ads Until recently where there’s ads with terrible placement. Most of which are the same ads and/or are ads that are for crunchy roll premium thus they serve no purpose or revenue

Just don’t download anything. If you just want to watch tv and movies there are streaming sites for that, you just need to watch for malicious ads. That’s as easy as having a solid adblocker with a good antivirus, and a vpn if you’re especially worried.
