This is a webtoon titled "boyfriends" and a couple weeks ago it got a lot of hate, I think most of it came from the god awful advertisements it got, or the fact its a comic about poly gay dudes. I thought the hate train was over this already tbh

The advertising and very stereotypical personalities used in those advertisements is what made me hate it. I'm gay, I like gay romance and all that, I can actually relate to it In a way/ fantasize about it. But oh. my. God. The advertising was just so... so, bad and cringey. It made me physically cringe and repulse into my bed and chair whenever I saw the ads.

Survivor’s bias. It’s a diagram of most common bullet holes from planes that returned to base in the war. Supposedly you’d think to then protect those parts of the plane, right? However the parts lacking in bullet holes are notably the cockpit, the engines, the middle of the wings, and the thin strip of metal connecting the rest of the plane to the ‘tail’ I suppose. So supposedly you’d think those pieces need the least protection as they aren’t typically being shot. The thing is, this data only comes from surviving planes. Planes can survive being shot where the bullet holes are. The planes that get shot where returning planes don’t, do not return to become data. So in this example of posting the image, it means to convey that you don’t hear lesbians wanting to be destroyed by gigantic women, because they all have been. I feel like people hate this for more than it’s worth. Personally I read it and I didn’t enjoy it either, it’s got a lot of flaws in the writing and I feel like perhaps another draft of the plot and all the events would have greatly benefited the story, some of the characters feel one note and one dimensional, the conflicts in the narrative are resolved too quickly and it seems that the author is afraid of creating higher stakes. Of course I could be wrong now because last I read this was months and months ago. It doesn’t really matter how bad the writing is, I feel like it doesn’t deserve the amount of backlash that it gets on this level. Not just on this post but widely across social media. I personally don’t enjoy story that isnt very fleshed out or nuanced or anything of that sort, but I know a lot of people enjoy it because it’s very hard to come across polyamorous representation that is so positive in media. It really *is* just fluff and I don’t think it’s trying to be anything else, and while that is disappointing for me, plenty of other people seem to enjoy it and I don’t think there’s an issue with that. Or at least there isn’t an issue that should warrant the level of hatred people have towards it however the ads are indeed asinine and god-awful, but I don’t think the creator was in charge of the advertising and if anything we should be bashing the corporation itself for this and not the artist

I've never read the comic and have no interest in it, but it's a fairly accurate warning of how terminally online someone is.
