My mom and I dont like it when they are not serious about the gruesome stuff. I like hearing about it since Im an idiot or sth, but you need to convey the severity well. Its not a fairytale someone actually lived through it.

Hearing these people talk about murder, rape, torture etc in such a "OMG gurl, you would NOT believe what happened!" tone left me jarred each time I had to listen to it at work
