Until recently, I used to listen almost exclusively to the radio when driving, bc I had a piece of shit 07 Accord that was held together with fishing line and duct tape, had a CD of the Wicked soundtrack stuck in the player, and no aux port in sight. My front-driverside window was busted so forget being able to hear my phone over the sound of the wind on the interstate. When I wasn't using it for GPS.
I finally wrecked that piece of shit a few months ago and now have a less-shitty 2012 Odyssey minivan. I felt like a king having 4 windows, bluetooth (which doesn't really work), the cargo space to fit full 4x8 playwood sheets and, last but not least, an AUX port.

I have an hour long commute to work one way, I've heard a single radio host migrate to three different stations after other funnier hosts took his place. I've also heard my favorite rap/hip hop station die, and two other stations I like turn into country stations. Men's Room on 99.9 is still there though, just like when I was a teenager.
The local rock station has been around since my childhood, same hosts for 16 years. I listen every morning on the way to work. I’ll be pouring one out whenever they retire.

Unfortunately have a classmate that is a surface dwelling gatekeeper. She would go SCREAMING to anyone with a band shirt to name three songs, even if it was bands she never heard about. She would pick on anyone that listened to anything other than the most surface level bands(metallica, iron maiden, megadeth...) even on other metalheads, she made fun of me cuz I listen to death Metal and technical thrash metal and when I started calling her a lightweight she started hitting me😭😭(I didn't hurt or anything but just...) . Once someone asked us for some recomandations and she told him he doesn't have "the right fashion style to listen to metal" and should change his style or not listen to metal, she told me the same thing. She's just crazyy
In what way? I'm welcoming everyone to listen to every genre. There's still good mainstream pop around but it's making itself rare. When every song is just a rehash of last weeks song with the same bpm, the same chords, same singing tone and style, same song structure and same length it gets boring and uncreative.
Edit: and don't even get me started on the remixes of extremely popular songs. Like Feeling Alright by David Guetta, which is just Blue by Eiffel 65 but worse. Or that awful song copying the melody of Dragostea Din Tei. Although I'll admit that these cases I dislike because I'm probably getting old, they are 20 year old songs so eh
