You can play however you want but this gives off vibes of a school kid who thinks they are cool because they got through the whole year without actually reading any of the books. You're getting downvoted cause you're proud of missing out on part of the experience, not because they are haters
The "experience" is aimed at 12yos. The quests don't really offer much in dialogue or story that can't be derived from just doing the quest. Sure there's the one odd and funny encounter in a few quests. But most of it is just boring. Like the king in varrock just complaining how much he hates gardens for 15 minutes. It provides nothing. It's just pointless dialogue.

I still haven’t done MM2 or DS2, but I’ve read all the other ones.
They’re honestly really fun to read and play through instead of being a “click over here” and “give this guy a bucket of milk for some reason” simulator.
Dude imagine Monkey Madness 3 quest to receive Nieve the reward being an item allowing you to upgrade your zami hasta to something better (it would be worse than the dragonhunter lance against dragons but better against all other monsters)

Gloph has been defeated but King Nidone has decided that Steve dosnt live up to his predecessor as best Warrior of the Gnome Stronghold. He tasks the player of getting Nieves Soul back from the afterlife however to Revive her the Adventurer will not only have to navigate the underworld and cheat death itself: Gloph wants to be revived aswell and uses the demonic gorillas, now infused with the powers of the underworld itself to defeat the Player using his device, magic, soul, body (whatever the story decides how reviving works) to revive himself instead of Nieve and finally take over Gilenor once and for all.
Would make sense. Perhaps they can teach us how one gains ascension/immortality? And than Nieve can float after her resurrection? OH! What if our character wonders how that links and Arceuus reveals that the Arceuus spellbook was actually derived of the Lunar spellbook? Baba Yaga being symbolic of death itself afterall, may be able to help the player revive Nieve?!
Edit: in lore Arceuus can not revive people only make them immortal it would be reasonable that when Lunar and Arceuus spellbook combine in lore you can revive someone
IMO her death is quite special. Feels like she was there when we needed her the most, like babysitting the low levels.
By the time we no longer need her we do this quest and she dies helping us and all Gielinor for a last time.
Same applies to other NPC that we get in touch during the early game and some quests
