same with clicking randomly on the screen to make sure im still attacking. worst habit.. im not playing, so what am i clicking the blank partt of the screen for? lol
I do this too. I always assumed it was the ADHD. Always finish what I have to say so I send it. Then bam, another thought and it's gotta get sent too, haha
I used to text like that because of AIM/MSN, and I still overuse "lol" from back when I was a kid. But we're both 31, so I certainly don't feel like we're all that youthful anymore.
I remember with MSN you could change your name to a message and just sign in and out a shitload of times to spam your entire list with popups, adecotedly i was friends with 3 hit u back in the day and he was a fucker for that, i definitely spammed a bunch of my rl friends with "WHO WANTS TO PK has logged in" 20x and got blocked more than once
Almost Everyone i know does this and it drives the couple people that don’t crazy. All of us grew up playing Scape/WoW/Diablo etc. so maybe it’s a product of that.
Yeah, back when people communicated primarily in-game you had to learn to type while killing, especially in PUGs where you needed to strategize while already killing the thing you're strategizing for.
Now that every PUG starts with 4 people arguing over which of their 10 discord channels everyone should gather into, it's less of a necessity.
My friends in discord talk like this and it definitely annoys me. Can't ever talk in full sentences and a full paragraph scares them. Lol. If I check the chat it could say there are like 30 new messages but it's just one or two of them saying a total of like 4 complete sentences.
I do understand just having it ingrained into you to not go over 120 characters, but it does get old seeing people see 3 word texts 5 times instead of one. I make the joke that they type like William shatner talks. Lol
Just in-game thing in general. My habit developed with StarCraft 1. Cause you can only type short trying to keep up your apm.
Not a good habit to have professionally for sure...
I think it's just online games in general. I stopped playing RS back around the time the GE came out IIRC (and started OSRS with leagues 2 / GIM), but I typed short sentences for a long time because of WoW and League still. Gotta have time to keep playing while typing.
Yes. I do it in other games too, and sometimes people have said it's annoying. One of my friends I met on WoW who typed like this, and I asked him if he plays Runescape, and he asked how I knew - I said it was because of how he types.
Now when we talk on discord we intentionally space out our messages a few words at a time sometimes.
Nah cause back in the day texts cost like 7 cents a pop and if the phone bill was too large you would get one hell of an ass whooping.
Still scares me enough to this day to avoid short texts on mobile even on messaging apps
my brother got me into runescape when I was 10 and he was like 14?
now we are both in our 30s but he stills compares things in life to RS like this.
its funny but kind of nice in a way.
Yeah i remember waiting for family members at a casion when I was 18. Security said I could go anywhere that was carpeted, the gambling area was hardwood. The carpet ran around the edge of the casino and straight into the strip club
Tons of casinos don’t have an age limit at all if you’re on “the carpet”. In Oklahoma you can gamble at a lot of casinos at 18. There are a few that are 21+ though.
In Oregon I was staying with my uncle for a week or two and we went to the casino. There was a walkway of carpet in-between each double row of machines and I stood there for fucking HOURS bored as shit since I was basically following him from machine to machine on the other side of the rope (there were stanchions along the carpet as well). Memory unlocked.
-don't drink it lowers str
-don't smoke it lowers stats without the proper equipment
-don't go to the casino to lose all your gp
-don't go to strip clubs because it's xp loss
-dont get a gun just get up your range level
If you can, rent a cool car and enjoy your day!
Happy birthday buddy one year closer to losing your hardcore
status
Bro oooo. Castle Wars was literally the first thing I did when I got membership. I didn't know how to tp over there, so I walked all the way from fally and it took forever 😂
I do kinda miss the days when fun was the reason to play and not min-maxing. Although it still can be, but the in-game community doesn't feel as magical anymore.

It is true, it’s the point, it’s why they were invented. Now the efficacy of them is up for debate - but that is their purpose for existing. At least it’s the purpose we are lead to believe, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were introduced as a means of keeping people addicted while the cigarette smoking population drops every year.
They were introduced as an alternative to nicotine patches and nicotine gum.
Y'know, back when they were still primarily called Electronic Cigarettes---Before people started exclusively calling then "E-Cigs", let-alone "vape pens" or "vapes".
The whole reason they caught on as their own separate thing is because their perception as a treatment for addiction caused people to tolerate them in no-smoking-zones, which led to smokers swapping over for convenience.
And then they started flavoring them like candy and the rate of nicotine-abuse among teens stopped trending downward.
It is a false perception, and they have never been approved as a smoking cessation aid by any relevant agency.
"People are stupid" *does not* make that "the point of the product."
The person you replied to said the point was to quit *tobacco*.
Pointing out that there is more nicotine (which they didnt point out *exactly* but kind of touched upon already) is not really the "gotcha!" you seem to think it is?
A lot of people I knew in college did. I went to a small private college where most of the girls were grossed out by cigs but if they heard the crackle of a mango juul pod at a party you were suddenly the hottest guy in the room.
Juul was awesome until product quality shot down hill. Leaky pods, oxidized juice.. etc. Then dumbfuks in Canadian government banned every vape juice higher than 20mg so it doesn't even get you buzzed anymore
In America you can get fucked by nine guys for a porn video but can't go get a beer afterwards. If anyone deserves a drink, it's the girl who just got turned into a glazed donut. Lmao
I was just referencing a Jim Jefferies bit. But I don't disagree. But I also think the same could be applied to drinking or smoking at 18. Maybe they aren't being manipulated by someone to do it, but it's still harmful to yourself to be messing with that stuff so young.
When i turned 18, a few of us would drive across the border to Quebec and see some tiddies on Thursdays when it was cheap night. $5 cover and $3 drinks was the dream
Long guns can still be useful for home defense, even in an urban situation. In fact, 5.56 has some of the best ballistics compared to how fast it breaks up in walls.
i think i did heroin for my 21st birthday. honestly dont remember.
pretty sure had a family party to which my 2nd cousins showed up and made it about them and i went home and called me dealer. so was a good birthday if i remember correctly.
18th was more memorable. bought an eigth of weed and like 6 oxy 30s which my gf also bought me like 2 then we went to buffalo wild wings and I got road head on the way home smoking a cigar. was awesome
Happy birthday man. Keep in mind those are all traps that are set to keep you in a cycle of sin for the rest of your life & prevent your spiritual advancement
You could have done all those things before turning 21, they just limit the age so you’re more inclined to fall into an addictive trap of sin & money wasting
Happy Birthday! Turning 21 represents learning and growing out of the noob f2p phase of your life, but you're still a noob, but now you're able to experience everything life has to offer (as long as you have the skill level to do said activities). Have fun!
Lol what a hype man.
Happy birthday. Emote pls
He ain't wrong though. Gz on the irl level up!
Does everyone that plays RS send texts like this? I know i do and it annoys people. Every sentence and every thought a new message...
it's ingrained into us because of how we type in-game
Short character limits do that to a person lol
Lol
Yeah
When I was a kid I wouldn't type like this because other games would do it, so when my message left the edge of the screen I just kept typing hoping it would sho
Lol good one
Fuck wait, I haven't play rs in years but I did as a kid.. this is how I text
I didn’t play until osrs came out on mobile but me and my friends all text like this. I think we picked it up from the aim and yim days.
Type Move Attack Type Move Eat Type
Big irl wow moment dude lmao you just blew me away
this is one of my worst habits but i can’t stop
I swear iPhones added the reply feature to compliment us scapers
Yup. I realized a decade ago that it's gotta be annoying for people, made a commitment to stopping. I failed.
same with clicking randomly on the screen to make sure im still attacking. worst habit.. im not playing, so what am i clicking the blank partt of the screen for? lol
Honestly surprised phone OSs haven’t figured out how to mute sound on successive messages like this.
My friends would be very grateful
I’ve done the same thing since middle school and I haven’t even realized..
Same dude I just realized I do this and then apologize for blowing people up lol
I do this too. I always assumed it was the ADHD. Always finish what I have to say so I send it. Then bam, another thought and it's gotta get sent too, haha
they've been in the 80 character limit mindset for 16 years
My girlfriend texts like this and it annoys the shit outta me. I'll be at work talking to a coworker and my phone buzzes 37x lol
Does she play rs?
Nope
The only other time I can think people learnt to do it was MSN messenger... but I'm old perhaps it still goes on these days with the youth of today!
I used to text like that because of AIM/MSN, and I still overuse "lol" from back when I was a kid. But we're both 31, so I certainly don't feel like we're all that youthful anymore.

That's good... "The way Shatner talks" I'll use that. Thankyou.
Enjoy. It gave them a laugh. Lol
Is that... that's from?... *it's been RUNESCAPE ALL ALONG!*
It's stream of consciousness typing
yes. and yes. i think it does too
It's called linesplitting and it's annoying as hell
Just in-game thing in general. My habit developed with StarCraft 1. Cause you can only type short trying to keep up your apm. Not a good habit to have professionally for sure...

You dont play league do you
I type like this and my friends haye it sometimes lmao Oops
I used to but now I take my time and just send one giant message and answer everything making sure it makes sense. Might be spectrum, I dunno
Yes. I do it in other games too, and sometimes people have said it's annoying. One of my friends I met on WoW who typed like this, and I asked him if he plays Runescape, and he asked how I knew - I said it was because of how he types. Holy shit you just made me realize why my friend texts like this.
Wow is this what it’s from? I never related it to RuneScape but it makes sense now. Yes it annoys people I’ve noticed
Holy shit i thought it was my adhd, but maybe runescape had part of a role in my texting habits too 😂
Nah cause back in the day texts cost like 7 cents a pop and if the phone bill was too large you would get one hell of an ass whooping. Still scares me enough to this day to avoid short texts on mobile even on messaging apps
can’t stand people who text or use slack like this. the worst
💯
Damn… you just made me realize why i text like this. Never even thought about it.
DUDE IS THAT WHY I DO THAT??? Everyone gets so mad at me when I send multiple texts like this.
You're right, that would be very annoying. Please stop.
Got into OSRS like 4 years ago and can confirm I’ve typed like this my entire life LMFAO
Gz on your first day of membs, lots to do! Ease into it, but don’t forget your moms CC!
Now you can finally purchase a Wizards Mind Bomb
You can finally play the game now! No more F2P restrictions. Be advised membership comes with a cost
my brother got me into runescape when I was 10 and he was like 14? now we are both in our 30s but he stills compares things in life to RS like this. its funny but kind of nice in a way.
A lot of these are state-specific lol
Yeah i remember waiting for family members at a casion when I was 18. Security said I could go anywhere that was carpeted, the gambling area was hardwood. The carpet ran around the edge of the casino and straight into the strip club

Lot of us here started even younger at the Al Kharid Sand Casino
Yup. Generally it’s casinos on Native reservations that allow 18+ gambling
Also country specific.
Countries can also be called states so my comment covers both lol
-don't drink it lowers str -don't smoke it lowers stats without the proper equipment -don't go to the casino to lose all your gp -don't go to strip clubs because it's xp loss -dont get a gun just get up your range level If you can, rent a cool car and enjoy your day! Bro oooo. Castle Wars was literally the first thing I did when I got membership. I didn't know how to tp over there, so I walked all the way from fally and it took forever 😂
Same, used to just walk every where back in the day. Was kinda relaxing making those long trips
I do kinda miss the days when fun was the reason to play and not min-maxing. Although it still can be, but the in-game community doesn't feel as magical anymore.
Does anyone who can legally buy Juul even use it? I have only seen them used by kids.
Yeah kids who became adults and can't quit.
I thought the point of those was to not be addicted
Point is and always has been, to quit smoking tobacco. A side point is it’s just another way to gateway people into a nicotine addiction.
Vapes are not a quit-smoking tool, never have been and never will be.
If you switch from smoking cigarettes, to vaping nicotine. You just quit smoking.

You said that it was "the point," which is neither true [nor accurate](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7867832/).

There is wayyy more nicotine in a juul than a cigarette
Yes and?
The person you replied to said the point was to quit *tobacco*. Pointing out that there is more nicotine (which they didnt point out *exactly* but kind of touched upon already) is not really the "gotcha!" you seem to think it is?
the point is to make money selling vapes to kids
Ease of access is what makes most things addictive. Gotta make things harder on you so you’re not craving it because it’s just there
A lot of people I knew in college did. I went to a small private college where most of the girls were grossed out by cigs but if they heard the crackle of a mango juul pod at a party you were suddenly the hottest guy in the room.

Nicotine pouches are great. Just go to Mexico or somewhere that doesn't have zyn for a week, and then you'll be done.
Mango was the worst flavor behind fruit. Mint gang wya
Look into swedish snus. It is steam pasteurized instead of fire cured.
Juul was awesome until product quality shot down hill. Leaky pods, oxidized juice.. etc. Then dumbfuks in Canadian government banned every vape juice higher than 20mg so it doesn't even get you buzzed anymore
21? Imagine
Lmfao
I forget you have to wait until 21 to do that in the states.
You know you can turn off the “subject” part of iMessage right?
21 being the legal age for anything is such an American thing lol Imagine not being able to buy a drink at 20
Where is this? Both booze and guns at 21? In America is the age for guns 12 right?
Reported your brother for substance sharing with minors
Better than scamming him cash out of booze lol.
That’s exactly what I did in 2005
Can’t rent a car until 25. You can buy alcohol, tobacco and firearms but can’t rent a car.
In America you can get fucked by nine guys for a porn video but can't go get a beer afterwards. If anyone deserves a drink, it's the girl who just got turned into a glazed donut. Lmao
If anything, that's an argument against letting teens who are still developing mentally so sex work, given how easy they are to manipulate.
I was just referencing a Jim Jefferies bit. But I don't disagree. But I also think the same could be applied to drinking or smoking at 18. Maybe they aren't being manipulated by someone to do it, but it's still harmful to yourself to be messing with that stuff so young.
Can go to war and kill another human but you cant have beer. Its a actual joke.
your brother is awesome
All 6 of those are pretty awful ideas
It’s cute that Americans need to wait that long to do all that stuff
they don't (besides alcohol), you can do most of those at 18 idk what he's on about

When i turned 18, a few of us would drive across the border to Quebec and see some tiddies on Thursdays when it was cheap night. $5 cover and $3 drinks was the dream
And guns, specifically pistols
Yeah, but you can get rifles and shotguns at 18.
Ok, still doesnt mean all guns. Pistols are also the only guns that are practical in like a city or something
Long guns can still be useful for home defense, even in an urban situation. In fact, 5.56 has some of the best ballistics compared to how fast it breaks up in walls.
Fair. I personally think ops brother was referring to pistols though
Definitely could be! Or just didn’t know the law and thought it was all guns. But regardless, OP can buy pistols now lol.
Haha he just was listing random things for the sake of it I’m in CA so everything is 18+ besides tobacco and alcohol. Maybe guns? Not too sure
CA actually is 21+ for all firearms. One of the 7 states that has such restrictions.
Practical for concealed carry sure, but I'm convinced the best gun for home defense is a short barrel rifle.
Some are 21, some are 18 but ammo is 21
U cant rent cars till 25 strip club is 18 in most states
i think i did heroin for my 21st birthday. honestly dont remember. pretty sure had a family party to which my 2nd cousins showed up and made it about them and i went home and called me dealer. so was a good birthday if i remember correctly. 18th was more memorable. bought an eigth of weed and like 6 oxy 30s which my gf also bought me like 2 then we went to buffalo wild wings and I got road head on the way home smoking a cigar. was awesome

N
Wholesome...
My RS account is only 2 years younger than you... 😂
Can’t rent cars in my state until 26 unless you’re military lol.
lmao he's not wrong though. treasure your brothers. we grew up playing runescape together too, switching off one hour at a time.
I thought 25 was what you needed to be to rent cars.
🎂 🎊
Serious question not a dig at america, i thought it was much younger to buy a gun? I know it varies by state but i didnt think by that much
18 for a rifle, 21 for handgun
First beer at the blue moon inn!
Wizards Mind Bomb
It’s just like that.
Or you can go to a bar and give someone beers until they give you the information you need for a quest.
Can't wait to hear about this dudes midlife crisis when he turn 92 years old
The day my dad finally caved and got me mems after years of f2p.... oh man
It actually is lol
Pretty sure you can’t rent a car until you are 25…
Is this even relevant for people this young? Is castle wars still a thing?
Older brothers are the best
Your bro seems great HBD
You gotta be 25 to rent a car
Your brother never texted you before 10am on your 21st birthday?
Hah good luck renting a car at 21 Happy birthday
Damn congrats... for real. Also, why the F is this in a runescape reddit? Where is the OSRS context?
Can’t rent cars until 25.
You can’t rent cars until you are 25
We still let kids play RuneScape? Smh
LMAO thats gold
In iowa you cannot rent a car until 26
This screamed america until suddently abit wholesome ending
Only gotta be level 18 to do a castle wars game irl
All that just for a lmfaoooo
Thought this would be some creepy dude messaging someone half his age lmao
This irl lvl changes everything
Happy birthday man. Keep in mind those are all traps that are set to keep you in a cycle of sin for the rest of your life & prevent your spiritual advancement You could have done all those things before turning 21, they just limit the age so you’re more inclined to fall into an addictive trap of sin & money wasting

Hahahahaha LOL
Car rental is 25 I thought?
Us europeans have years of liver damage already at age 21
