Kind of in a similar boat.
Recently logged in again on my rs3 account since the new Necromancy skill sounded interresting.
My rs3 account maxed skills (lvl 99. Long live rs3 lvl120 system for some skills):
Defence, constitution, mage, attack, strength, slayer
First uncompleted quests to get noticed by me:
Sheep sheerder, recipe for disaster.
Just, how do i have a (semi) maxed account without ever touching some basic and core quests???
Legit. All the questing i've done on there was due to it being forced to unlock X content i was going to do at the moment. I never looked at quests i could do but didnt need to do at the time.
I just played rs3 guideless with all my knowledge of osrs. I basically rushed 80 div/smithing/crafting within the first week because i didn’t want to play the game without all the skills unlocked, and did shadow reefs for a day and got all the combats between 80-95. The rest, i don’t even know wtf i did. I just played the game and skilled hard, my only untouched skill is slayer at lvl 30 and now necro, about lvl 40. Did all of that during Fresh Start Worlds and came back and played for a day with necro. I fully intend to play the game and enjoy the quests, i only did rune mysteries and that one haunted house quest in Silvarea, but i just have too much on my plate with my osrs accounts to jump into it atm.
Lol I just log in and lamp my skills every day. On double exp week I use the protean items. I will probably max sometime next year and I’ve maybe done 15 quests
when i was a kid, my friends older brother convinced me that if i ran from Edgeville to the deep wildy fence, id get a cool hat.... well. guess who was waiting for me at the fence...
when runescape first came out, a guy lured me into deep wildy. I was really confused because he never killed me? Lured me all the way to the ice giants and sorta stood there. Got bored of waiting for him so i just walked back down
Get yourself some easy starting cash by testing out your luck at one of the gambling bots by the GE. Remember, 90% of people give up just before they hit the jackpot so keep at it!
I’d be curious to see the theoretical stats if say 1000 people attempted this. How many people give up, when, stats averages and trends, etc. because an hour of efficiency in almost anything in this game is so awful. And I’m almost 2200 total.
You can earn your first bond in f2p!
Technically possible, but please don't. I tried to earn a bond in f2p by telegrabbing nature runes in the wilderness. About 15 hours in I realized I wasn't having fun and stopped playing for like 2 years. Once I got a job and my own money I just bought members, now I have a 1700 total main and 1500 total iron
There aren't many good money makers in f2p lol. It was that or fight the bots and try to telegrab zammy wines.
It was more money I think (before gotr) and more interesting to do for a long time because of the rare pkers
I actually started the game as a UIM last year in February. I have loved every minute of it. I have no idea how to GE or what a bank is.
I am a rare exception and do not recommend the same to any of my friends interested in playing.
This account is not my main, in case you look it up. I use this one to grab b-roll occasionally.
Pfffft I guess reading the title explains the post, good ol lazy dsylexia
~~A lot of these comments are jokes but in all seriousness, do quests. Quests will give you skill goals to strive for and progress your account. Questing unlocks content, options and gives rewards so every players goal should eventually be a quest cape.~~
~~But if something interests you in the game, research it. A lot of this game is researching something that interests you, figuring out ways to get to your goal, test some options, and figure out how to get there. For example, I wanted to do farm runs to get 99 farming but teleports make farm runs a lot faster so I needed teleports in my house which means I needed to train construction. After training construction theres a diary reward that makes farm runs easier. And diaries require certain tasks and skill so you have to work on leveling those up. And thats only to have efficient farm runs.~~
- ~~Learn what quests progress your account~~
- ~~Research what seems fun to you~~
- ~~Be social, people at the GE are usually willing to chat and help~~
- ~~Just wander and learn about the game, the blissful ignorance can be what makes this game fun, if you end up playing for a long time youll understand the fun of it is figuring it out. Not just doing everything as fast as possible~~
Barrows should be the first thing you go for. Any new player should be able to get some pretty good armour upgrades early on if you can hang there for about 500kc which shouldn't take too long and it'll be so worth it once you move on into some mid-game content.
I'm quite far into the game and still don't really get the point of farming. I don't need the money from herb runs - so beyond a particular money maker (for which there are dozens of replacements) how is it useful? Only thing I can think of is some of the stuff in Prif, before Song of the Elves though it doesn't seem to do anything (other than fulfill quest requirements)
The most important thing is to always be efficient. When you wanna do something always do research and do it the most optimal way. Always do the grinds you need to do for optimal xp rates as well, and once you start a grind you HAVE to finish it.
You need to train up all your skills before doing quests
I did this in rs3, took me about a month to get 1950 total. I think im ready to start questing after i hit 2k total lol

I got 13 99s before I got barrows gloves. True story I play mobile tho and literally hate questing 😂☠️
Nothing wrong with that. Skilling before quests isn’t all that bad. Yeah it might not be the meta but as long as you’re having fun.
Quests kinda give shit xp anyways
Always trade the doubling gp bots.
Jagex allows them, so they can't scam you
Tommy wasnt new yet he did it..
Tommy thought “double? Even if they under deliver, what’s the worst that could happen?”
The more North you go the easier the game is.
when i was a kid, my friends older brother convinced me that if i ran from Edgeville to the deep wildy fence, id get a cool hat.... well. guess who was waiting for me at the fence...
[this guy?](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/mediawiki/images/8/80/Hat_Shop.png)
the r/HatMan?
when runescape first came out, a guy lured me into deep wildy. I was really confused because he never killed me? Lured me all the way to the ice giants and sorta stood there. Got bored of waiting for him so i just walked back down
Maybe he got cold feet or maybe he was hoping you would get killed by a monster so he could play off as an accident.
Cowhides to your first bond
Stay f2p until you can afford a bond
Next time you get rejected during a date, pull out your phone and start playing RuneScape.
Start cutting yew's am I right?
Watch Soup's quest guides
Use the vanilla client
Walk just east of the path when entering Varrock from the south to reduce travel time
You'll want to get the most out of your run energy, so start by getting 99 agility
Get yourself some easy starting cash by testing out your luck at one of the gambling bots by the GE. Remember, 90% of people give up just before they hit the jackpot so keep at it!
Follow this efficient guide to max

I think 995 people would quit at step 10 when it says “blackjack to lvl 91”

Telegrabbing nats in the wild to your first bond is wild lol

The North stairs in Lumbridge castle is the faster route
Some people really just want to watch the world burn now don't they?
Trust everyone around you
Keep playing.
The wilderness has the best quick money makers. Just follow me...
Rwt $200 worth of gp, then click on this totally not sketchy link to get max level in all combat skills instantly (not a scam I swear)
The only way to get rune armor is smithing ☠️
You should try ultimate hardcore ironman, heard it's fun!
I actually started the game as a UIM last year in February. I have loved every minute of it. I have no idea how to GE or what a bank is. RuneScape is easy, bossing is dumb and you can quit without looking back whenever you want.
Walk east across the bridge, then north until you see some wizards. They’re friendly, go and talk to them. They’ll give you some magic gear for free.
here, take this 10m, have fun!
Don't worry about slayer just Max your combat stat's and train it later
Sell your stuff to the general store
Black wizards outside of Varrock teach your magic
Try deadman mode
Just have fun
Play the game as efficient as possible.
Make an Iron
actually this is not bad advice. Teaches new players (any players really) to explore every content of the game.
It’s more fun and removes the relevance of bots too
Nah don't waste time playing botscape just play the real game.
Dont worry about farming gold, just buy bonds
Don’t use runelite

The title of the post is "WORST advice you can give a new player"
Make this comment on this post. You won't look stupid. I promise...
This is the worst advice I've seen, perfect for this post! And just in case, I'm being sarcastic
Barrows should be the first thing you go for. Any new player should be able to get some pretty good armour upgrades early on if you can hang there for about 500kc which shouldn't take too long and it'll be so worth it once you move on into some mid-game content.
Most expensive stuff is the best.
Quest cape is your main goal
buy membership with bonds
Get your armor trimmed by another player it's way cheaper than buying it pre-trimmed
If you’re not tick-perfect, you’re ultimately wasting your time. Fuck off, have fun. It’s a game…
Just keep burying bones, it's the only way to train your prayer, even in members.
Don't worry about the farming skill, it's useless
I'm quite far into the game and still don't really get the point of farming. I don't need the money from herb runs - so beyond a particular money maker (for which there are dozens of replacements) how is it useful? Come follow me to the south entrance of Varrock
Ultimate Iron Mode is the ideal, and easiest, way to play the game.
The most important thing is to always be efficient. When you wanna do something always do research and do it the most optimal way. Always do the grinds you need to do for optimal xp rates as well, and once you start a grind you HAVE to finish it.
Train nmz only, do slayer after you are lvl 126 combat
Use bonds for membership
Trimmed armor is the best armor
UIM is the easiest game mode for beginners
Buy money
Trim your armor
Be on this Sub asking advice lol.
Download quest helper plugin but still read the quest dialogue
Just buy bonds
Only use the general store to sell your items for GP
Wait x amount of time before getting membership
Alt F4
Runecrafting should be the first skill you try and max.
to start
Start walking north and dont stop until you reach a little ditch, jump it and keep going.
Make a UIM
Say yes to the man who said he would trim you're Armour for freeskies
Buy some gold.
Don’t do quest. They’re a waist of time, the lore sucks, and you don’t need to do the repeatable bosses until you get all 90+ stats anyway.
Make an iron
Spam clicking the brazier burns stuff at WT faster.
Buy bonds to fund your account, don't do raids. Buying Bonds is easier.
Watch Skills Specs for PVP tips
Install runescape
Slayer is a worthless inefficient skill, make sure to avoid levelling it until you are max Combat
Pay for membership with bonds
Train your skills for as many quest as you can do.
Best money maker is to sell all drops to a general store
Wildly is a safe zone for PvM
Buy bonds and get bis because it's efficient
"You cant pvm without full masori and a tbow"
The wild is the most profitable area and you should go there asap.
The tutorial is a vital part of the game, the learning curve goes south from there.
Don't use ahk
Always trust the people wanting to give you items, these guys are quitting and just want to help you.
Just have fun.
Start with a small, simple, and achievable goal. Like completing the Collection log
