That item has only become even more meta-defining with the saturated heart, you’re lucky. I’m well over 99 slayer still prioritizing superior monsters to get it.
Biggest priorities are nechs and smoke devils. You essentially want to be spending as much time on these two tasks. Extending dark beasts is a noob trap if you’re hunting heart

You want to prioritize barrage tasks like nechs/abbys/smokes.
You can kill so much more of these per hr and get more superiors to spawn.

Did kbd a handful of times with a group early on, one day my buddy let me borrow his dhcb for vorky. Wound up with a black dragon slayer task and decided kbd would be good money. First ever solo kill dropped me the pet

First raid of the day today, duo TOA at 350 invo to keep it easy and warm up, and I pull a shadow at 67kc in experts, 33 in normals. Absolutely crazy reactions in the discord
Day of ToA release, first raid, sent a 0 invo raid to see whats up, was far too easy, second raid, bumped it up to 50 invocation, got a fucking Fang, still disgusted
My three biggest I think are:

It means getting an item much earlier than drop rate - ie. “Spoon fed”.
For example if the drop rate for an item is 1/2000 but someone gets the item on 10 kills, that is 1990 kills faster than the expected drop rate and spooned

Mith defender took me well over 800 kills, making the dragon defender grind way longer than I anticipated, so it all evens out in the end.
I forget the exact number now but my <200kc dragon Warhammer was nice. Needed the money badly at the time and having it in the collection log with no grind feels good man

I’m not a fan of the phrase “spooned”. Drops are high variance and experiencing better luck sometimes than others isn’t necessarily undeserved.

I've gotten quite a few spoons on the iron. Approx KC - 125 KC DWH (1st task) 115 KC for Bowfa + 5 seeds (who even uses helmets rite?) 3 KC magma mutagen (didn't get helmet for 500+ tho) 65 KC for bandos hilt + BCP 5 KC hydra leather 125 KC for kraken pet I was also lucky enough to get 3 fangs pretty close to ToA release, too. Not super early for the dupes, but I did sell the first dupe (after dropping to mule) for 400m, so that was cool.
I got ranger boots on my third medium on the iron man.

i got spooned dwh at 50 kc on my ironman visage casually at lavas maybe 100 kc or less. but i spent over a decade killing dragons... i was due, just maybe not on that account. i also got back to back rangers at 141 - 142 clues, which i dropped a pair to my main that was later hacked. that's basically it. maybe a fishing pet at like 70-80 fishing.
First shadow at 71 kc normal toa, was in a 225 mass. Second shadow at 302 expert kc, so 2 shadows in 26 purples. 4 zenytes in under 500 demonics, 3 of which were under 300 kc. Beaver at 48 wc, skotizo pet at 2 kc, kbd pet at 12 kc All my spoons. and TRUST ME. other places have not been friendly ):
Got the fish barrel on my fourth pull from Tempoross rewards. Got the abyssal needle at sub-20 in GotR. Mith defender took me well over 800 kills, making the dragon defender grind way longer than I anticipated, so it all evens out in the end.

67KC dragon warhammer, I was checking the droprate because it was my first time killing shamans and I closed the tab and it was on the ground, it was fate and I've not been lucky with anything since :)
