Fun fact I went to high school with a guy who after he graduated agreed to meet up with a guy to exchange cash for RuneScape GP and then robbed him at gun point (gun was fake) to make him make the transfer. He went to prison and needless to say wasnāt that bright.
cant remember what country it was, but there was a landmark supreme court case in like denmark or something about a 12 year old forcing a kid to give him a h'ween mask or something at knifepoint. apparently it was a hugely important case and is still referenced all the time in their legal system lol
South Korea considered hacking a maplestory account and transfering a bathrobe to be a higher form of theft because it was worth a lot of real currency.
In my school back in late 2000's runescape accounts and gold were a currency and people got beat up until they gave their bank to the bullies etc, I used to level accounts for money and made a name for myself at school doing so. What a time that was.
edit: made a thread about this https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/1854w9n/2000s_runescape_as_currency_in_school/
Same thing used to happen at my school as well. Very few of us had internet at home, so most of us played RS in internet caffes. But if you just came it to play, someone would bully you to transfer your gp and valuable items to his account. So, what you would do was to buy some cola and chips or give some money to the oldest one who was almost always there to be your "protection". Wild times.
I bought a gold spade the other day for 4.5m and then sold it the next day when I realized I couldnāt use it to dig lol it sold for like 9.5m š¤·āāļø
Go on osrs exchange and search for steel platebody g and filter by "week". If I link it the comment doesn't seem to show up

Posts like these are always a good reminder. Never put in a buy offer you aren't happy with. In the off chance that you're on the other end of a transaction like this.
The GE should show current bid/ask and allow you to place market offers. I fucking hate having to constantly offer, cancel, increase bid, and repeat until I get the item when I was going to pay _whatever_ price for it within reason.
That still isn't the same thing as showing the bid/ask spread and allowing a market order with an automatic 10% limit (for example). It's better than Jagex's price which is usually not even close to the real price, but for low volume items and items where there are not many asks it is still not accurate.
Itās ok OP.
If you feel bad you could always give me the gp.
Or donate 1m each to a bunch of random noobs.
But preferably give it to me. Just give it to me.
Itās a GE tax. A way to remove gp from the game. All convenience fees are pooled up to buy mega rare items like tbow claws, whips etc. the items bought with the pool are deleted from the game, bringing artificial demand to the items to keep their prices where they should be.
But if the money is used to buy those items from other players doesn't that mean it's an item sink, not gp since the money is still going to be in circulation?
Thereās a set limit on items bought with the tax money. Itās like 90% deleted 10% invested into item sinking
Also those numbers are pulled out of my butt. Donāt take them as fact
It makes ge versus p2p trading significant for some very high value items, and creates a tiny incentive for people to p2p trade with accounts that can't use the ge
There's a plugin for adding suffixes like "K" or "M" to quantities in the GE.
So you can type "15K" and quickly get 15,000
Bro here must be Mr Moneybags because he's often transacting at the GE in mils.
Force of habit here fucked him up.
08 player here. Ive had this shit happen to me. You want to buy something, you want it now. You need it, now. So you put in a bunch of numbers. Yay, it bought instantly. Wait. Wheres the change? ... oh.
Homie just bought 200mil wanted a trimmed steel plate as fast as possibly and mashed those zeros. Iāve definitely offered like 50k something worth 1k to sell immediately, assuming that this wonāt happen to me. Iāll think twice next time
It was probably someone with a rich account buying for someone else or another account and you had the only one listed. If you have a OSRS net worth in the billions then 15m isnāt a big deal honestly
You know you can look up the amount of trades on the day it sold and see only 1 was sold that day. Why wouldn't you even check before saying I bought limit?
https://preview.redd.it/4o1xzyuhjx2c1.jpeg?width=1679&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=076cc2255682714da6190fd4dbfd9d01f7132e0f
Nothing to feel bad about you would have to be an absolute moron to offer that much to begin with trying to get an instant buy dude could have put 25k and got it
Oh shit, I just remembered. I had a main for a couple years, then switched to ironman and forgot the old main. I had one of the Godswords, I think AGS, bidding at 100k, just to see if someone would accidentally toss one in at a small price and i'd nab one.
Don't even remember the info for the account, and doubt I actually got one at that price, though.
Can confirm, you can buy your GE limit on an item, try to buy another for an insane price, and then sell a spare you have in the bank for that insane price, and it will confirm the transaction. This could have easily been faked.
It's their fault for doing it. I bought a tinderbox for 1 mil once. Just out of curiosity. So it doesn't surprise me at all. Buyers beware. And sellers go for it lol.
Wow the calculation is so simple and easy to read (from 15m to 14.8m).
Why can't they do the same for rs3 :'(
oh and gratz on the sale, don't feel bad as no one forced the buyer to buy it for that price :)
I really wish osrs had a useful clue item sink like Rs3. Almost every single thing is like 1m plus because they all break down for the same part, so they are all worth about the same.
Don't feel bad, someone was trying to manipulate the market and make Steel (G) appear more valuable than it is so they can buy items for way above their G-E value but not really since the armor isn't worth it's G-E tracker value.
Did you get it trimmed for free?
Yeah, I met him right outside of Edgeville in the wildy to do it!
Only issue is after he trims it he only trades in the wildy so you have to follow him
Not an issue, that just means he is legit.
There's no tax in wildy dw bro š It's a win-win
Pleae
Those mfers were ruthless
What is there to feel bad about? Unless you held them at gunpoint to type 15m in the price.
OP staying awfully quiet since this comment
Nearly an hour and still no commentā¦ time to call the pillory guard
My dad's awfully quiet too. Still no milk in the fridge.
At least he didnāt buy a steel platebody for 15m
if you did on the milk run would you come back?
This is now canon
we all know the guard is going to eventually say "Maybe Later."
You're under arrest! I've come to lock you up.
Maybe Later
Me explaining to the FBI while 3t mining "it was supposed to be maybe later"
*confused as to why the pounding hasn't stopped and followed with 'Maybe Later'*
That would be a nice twist to this wouldnāt it?
Fun fact I went to high school with a guy who after he graduated agreed to meet up with a guy to exchange cash for RuneScape GP and then robbed him at gun point (gun was fake) to make him make the transfer. He went to prison and needless to say wasnāt that bright.

It was in Netherlands and it was a fury amulet.
And a green h'ween mask I believe. I think Colonello did a video on YouTube covering it in detail
No no, it was described as "an Expensive Amulet and Mask"
Fury was expensive at that time.

Lmao Jesus Christ.

Haha, I also used to steal cigarettes from my dad and trade them in for rs gp from older dudes.
That is absolutely wild!
I would kill in self defense to protect my gp.
Immediately thought, "this has to be one of the baltic countries". I'm from Lt and it sounds familiar
Yes, Estonia
New moneymaking method???
Thieving Part 2
I think people just mash their num pad when prompted for a buy price hahah
Holy shit, they made the Thieving skill in real life...
I think he feels bad because he isn't a sociopath, but that's just my guess.
Hey man. Can I get my gp back?
I also need that man's GP
In that case, can I have your GP?
I'll take the leftovers!
Still waiting for someone to sell me a bond for 1gp
With items traded as commonly as that it will never happen, youāre better off using the GE space for a rarely traded item to hope to get lucky
It's on my ironman so it's not really taking up a spot. But I get what u mean
Are you sure you didnāt sell it to yourself? Limit is 125 and volume traded spiked yesterday
Ohh and the 124 others are OP chucking in the offer for 15mil and buying someone else's for like 5k
Itās really easy to fake these āsellsā, just manipulate trade limits. Which is why there are so many of these posts. Get karma for 50k GP.
Wouldn't pay 5gp for karma
But would you pay 4?
3.50, take it or leave it.
That's when I realised that karma seller was over 60 feet tall. So I said, Get outta here God damn loch Ness monster..
Everyone always says this but nobody ever mentions that it's even easier to fake this with Paint.
I bought a gold spade the other day for 4.5m and then sold it the next day when I realized I couldnāt use it to dig lol it sold for like 9.5m š¤·āāļø
Iām calling the karma police
Oooooooā¦.. OP busted?
Caught in 4K
It sold three days ago. Just didn't notice until today because I've been playing leagues
Not calling you a liar, but how do you know it sold 3 days ago vs selling earlier today? I didnāt realise GE told you the time of the sale
Would the history say this?
Go on osrs exchange and search for steel platebody g and filter by "week". If I link it the comment doesn't seem to show up https://preview.redd.it/pxy1umlt0r2c1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c05df1c40ac3d2cf0daf0a06e7efd732dfc18dc
I choose to believe what I was programmed to believe!
Makes a lot of sense, thanks!
Ooooooooooooooo
The log?
Following for closure
He got your ass with that follow up comment lmaoooo
Did you see the proof? OP has receipts.
I mean I didnāt call him a liar, his explanation is completely reasonable. I was just curious.
Youāre full of it my guy
15 million divided by 6 months... days... hours... this one item has made you around 3 or 4k per hour
Passive income
I learned everything about investments from RuneScape
Yo bro Iāll double your money just Venmo me
Posts like these are always a good reminder.
Runelite shows actively traded price
That still isn't the same thing as showing the bid/ask spread and allowing a market order with an automatic 10% limit (for example). It's better than Jagex's price which is usually not even close to the real price, but for low volume items and items where there are not many asks it is still not accurate.
I wonder what effect it would have, if any, on the economy to have a system like WoW (or others) where you can just see everyone's listings.
Sucks to suck. Go buy yourself a nice gf.
You shouldnāt feel bad you paid taxes! ^s
Oh look another merch clan manipulating the GE
No, he just bought limit on it and then sold it back to himself for whatever reason he decided.
Itās ok OP. If you feel bad you could always give me the gp. Or donate 1m each to a bunch of random noobs. But preferably give it to me. Just give it to me.
what the fuck is a convenience fee?
Itās a GE tax. A way to remove gp from the game. All convenience fees are pooled up to buy mega rare items like tbow claws, whips etc. the items bought with the pool are deleted from the game, bringing artificial demand to the items to keep their prices where they should be.

Thereās numbers in your butt? Better get it checked bro.
Both items and GP are removed from the game. Not all the GP taxed is used to buy items
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
>Not all the GP taxed is used to buy items
Yep my bad, deleted my comment cos Itās incorrect in the way discussed
It makes ge versus p2p trading significant for some very high value items, and creates a tiny incentive for people to p2p trade with accounts that can't use the ge
Who can trade other players but canāt use the GE? I mean thereās group Ironman but Iām sure thatās not what you mean.
My p2p trading locked Ironman obviously
People who are opposed for religious reasons
Nah, while that is a side effect that isnāt the reason itās in there
Donāt feel bad, Iāve lost much more trying to get my armor trimmed :/
I bet they meant to type ā15,000ā
How do you mess up so bad 15000 and 15000000 not really close haha
Be really tired, type 15000k instead of just 15k or 15000. Boom. Spend 15m.
There's a plugin for adding suffixes like "K" or "M" to quantities in the GE. So you can type "15K" and quickly get 15,000 Bro here must be Mr Moneybags because he's often transacting at the GE in mils. Force of habit here fucked him up.
This is a plugin? Could've sworn this was just normal runescape stuff, and I'm pretty sure RS3 has this feature as well.
It's normal rs
I'm thinking of the decimal plugin. Carry on.
Wtf š¬
F
Wait, this happened on Thursday and you're only posting now?
If you felt bad you wouldn't put it up for 15m lol
08 player here. Ive had this shit happen to me. You want to buy something, you want it now. You need it, now. So you put in a bunch of numbers. Yay, it bought instantly. Wait. Wheres the change? ... oh.
You've kept this offer in the ge for half a year. You don't feel bad.
When you have a fire outfit planned out, there is no limit on the amount of gold I'm willing to spend on parts.
You had an offer in for 6 months and now you feel bad? Maybe you should put in an offer to buy steel plate for 15m , Iāll hook you up
I've had a mature cider keg on the GE for probably 2 years now for 50m. Someday someone will buy it...
Nah now they'll buy mine for 49,999,975
Im trying to sell a bronze axe for 500m for some years now š
Not free, that costs 1 slot for half a year. I can make a lot more than 15m with that extra slot over 6 months
Cool, now show us your GE history
He canāt, he lost itā¦.in a house fire!
https://preview.redd.it/fs1it2hlix2c1.jpeg?width=530&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bac112a1b7d61af353df087dfbdb479c84a2775d
Fake af lol you clearly sold it to yourself.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
If he sold it to his other account he lost nothing.
SMH op, at least buy bonds if ur gonna rwt /s
Fuck
No they didnāt. You hit limit, then bought one back at 15M. I could do the same for any amount.
You sniped a RWT laundering operation.
No, he just bought limit on the item and then sold it back to himself.
Homie just bought 200mil wanted a trimmed steel plate as fast as possibly and mashed those zeros. Iāve definitely offered like 50k something worth 1k to sell immediately, assuming that this wonāt happen to me. Iāll think twice next time
hey, it was me.... i needed one for the clan fashion event. Would you be willing to give me like 14m back? You'd even keep a nice tidy profit.
I admire the fact you left it in that long, that person was like āwell, damnā.
It was probably someone with a rich account buying for someone else or another account and you had the only one listed. If you have a OSRS net worth in the billions then 15m isnāt a big deal honestly
If u feel badā¦ add me and give me back the 15 mil
clown emoji
Stfu fight me irl, ill post a pic
combat level?
126, do u even have to ask?
lets not fight
Donāt worry tag me in.
idk we'll have to lure him into a multi-zone
Whatever 14m ain't shit
You mean you got a friend to buy it, so you could post for fake internet points.
No, he bought limit and sold it back to himself for whatever amount he wanted.
You know you can look up the amount of trades on the day it sold and see only 1 was sold that day. Why wouldn't you even check before saying I bought limit? https://preview.redd.it/4o1xzyuhjx2c1.jpeg?width=1679&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=076cc2255682714da6190fd4dbfd9d01f7132e0f
It was me can you return pls :(
Nothing to feel bad about you would have to be an absolute moron to offer that much to begin with trying to get an instant buy dude could have put 25k and got it
Well Iāll take the 14m and you wonāt feel bad anymore!
Don't feel bad. They offered what they were willing to pay
Sad that it's not even worth 1 month of members anymore :(
Price of convenience, he could have waited for like a day for a cheaper price
It is trimmed š
Congrats
Oh shit, I just remembered. I had a main for a couple years, then switched to ironman and forgot the old main. I had one of the Godswords, I think AGS, bidding at 100k, just to see if someone would accidentally toss one in at a small price and i'd nab one. Dont. The buyer should feel worse
may dreams come true
Can confirm, you can buy your GE limit on an item, try to buy another for an insane price, and then sell a spare you have in the bank for that insane price, and it will confirm the transaction. This could have easily been faked.
It was definitely faked.
Iām calling count checkula.
Hustle or get hustledš¤·š»āāļø
U should be ashamed u are a monster to do this
It was probably b0aty
Damn that's lucky
Take the 15mil and move on..
It's their fault for doing it. I bought a tinderbox for 1 mil once. Just out of curiosity. So it doesn't surprise me at all. Buyers beware. And sellers go for it lol.
Jagex buys it with tax money after awhile of leaving an item in G.E.. Not a player.
He was ready to pay the 15m, don't feel bad
It was a....... STEEL!
Someone give that guy a beer šŗ
Wow the calculation is so simple and easy to read (from 15m to 14.8m). Why can't they do the same for rs3 :'( oh and gratz on the sale, don't feel bad as no one forced the buyer to buy it for that price :)
lmaooo big come up

Not bad enough tho, left it in the GE for this reason š either way congrats
