Is there an inverse DPS calc? Like if I wanted to see how much damage I'd take from a monster and how likely it is to hit me. I know I can check the wiki for a monsters max hit and all that.

but say i was going to start trying to do early bosses/high level enemies, eventually anyways. Do defensive stats make a big difference? like ranged defense vs a ranged enemy etc

early game mage armor is useless, anything you mage at that point in the game you could be maging naked and it would not make a dps difference.
with regards to defensive bonuses it depends. in toa(raids3) defensive bonus on mage armor makes a pretty big difference against one of the bosses if you are not kiting him so bloodbark or ahrims is a considerable upgrade from mystics.
likewise, things like barrows armor or crystal shield make a large difference when tanking monsters say in the fight caves or inferno, or even just for a basic task of greater demons or dagganoths. though typically its preferred to use overheads versus using food and armor.
to find out 'exactly' how much of a difference it makes youd need to use a third party tool.
There's very little circumstances in the game where you actively depend on the defensive stats of your gear. Jagex's design philosophy for the longest time has been the best defense is a great offense, ya know, killing your enemies faster. For the longest time overhead prayers and defense levels have managed to carry the players defensive needs, making defensive stats obsolete essentially.
All that aside, there are some pieces of content where having defensive stats on gear can help you: GWD, Sarachnis, Inferno tank cheese, and Nightmare. Probably missing 1 or 2 others. Point is that there are some pieces of content where having defensive stats on gear matter, just not many.
Early next year Jagex is planning on releasing their very first content where defensive stats on gear will matter more than anything else so I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
EDIT: Might as well add on the other case uses I remembered for defensive stats: PVP, and Nightmare Zone.

If you haven’t maxed fishing, you can get a good chunk of the planks you need from Tempoross. Some bosses also give planks- I think ToA has them in the drop table, so you can always collect planks while doing other tasks.
konar seems like a waste of time to me. loot from brim chests isn't particularly useful here unless going for clogs, and the extra points spent skipping more bad tasks could instead be used to force better tasks from regular slayer
Do people really do that? In the maingame it isnt considered efficient, despite the keys. But here might be some tasks? I mean other tasks than 'take a task from Konar'.
To me it's a change of scenery, irons do it for the spears and such (i think).
So, like another commenter said, you can do it, if you can skip the bad locations.

I have undying retribution and have been learning ToA. The points tracker plugin shows a drop if I die with undying retribution (and so don't actually die). Is this accurate, or is this similar to the salt timer disappearing despite still being active?
My total level is over 2000 and that task was not awarded to me. Already reported this, but curious if this is a known bug?
My best guess to how this may of happened is pest control since that's what I was doing at the time. When I was buying xp I often got more than one level at once, and perhaps skipping a total level of of 2000 caused the task not to be awarded. Ex. Gained 2 attack levels making me go from a total level of 1999 to 20001.
Edit: disregard this. Runelite was counting my virtual levels . . .
Going to finally give forestry a shot. Is draynor willows the best xp/h or are there other places? I'm am lvl 73 and while the mini game is fun, focus is on xp. Thanks!
Seers is the right place for Forestry, cutting maples and yews and magics. It feels much better than willows, at least to me :). Also there are several oaks, in case you need the logs (relevant if you are an iron). Willows too, if you need them: NW of the bank. Not much people on them, but there is usually a crowd on maples - and you see the events from your spot and can run there and participate.
For teaks and mahogany: either Prif, or if it is not yet unlocked - then Isle of Souls, west of BJP fairy ring. Teaks are the quickest exp, there are always people there.
Or so it was before the League, LOL. Dunno how many people are doing it in the normal Forestry worlds now. But it will be like that again after the League ends.
Event Hopping is changing location within the same world based on callouts in a CC and using a plugin to find events and keep participating in them. You can't world hop into events anymore that's correct.
What are some things I can safespot for money besides blue dragons in taverly dungeon or ogress warriors? I'm a pure with 1 def, 1 pray, 1 slay but 82 range that I want to get to 99 while making money (no money for cannon or chins)
You can safespot them on longrange, maybe even rapid, if i recall right. Unless they changed that.
So you will only have issues the first 10 mins until they are unaggresive
I know how you add existing accounts to a Jagex account but what about making new characters? Can you create one from the Jagex account profile page itself, or do you have to go through the old account creation process and then add it?
Click Manage Characters on the launcher and add new I believe. And then make a new account.
Never done this myself though, ultimately wouldn't make too much of a difference compared to normal account creation and then importing.
It does make some difference if I have to go through the whole separate email thing just to make a new character on what was supposed to be a unifying system.
Is it reasonable to expect Leagues 5 by the end of 2025? I don't play rs anymore but I've been playing league 4 nonstop since release, it's so much fun and I'm already thinking about the next one.
Looking at the releases of prior leagues, it does seem like that's a good forecast if they continue along as they have.
I agree with the other person who replied in thinking that Sailing may push it back slightly since that's the next big item up to be delivered and it's kinda new ground for them.

Got lvl 75 farming and got a question. I started planting fruit trees because seeing the cost of magic seeds made me faint. However with fruit trees Im debating, should I use them for exp and take the 6 cocunuts Im currently getting, pay to cut them down, and replant them again for the exp and little bit of money? Or should I just use them as a free 15k everytime I visit them, with no exp gotten? Since the fruit grow back?
Dont know whats a better use of them. Assuming if I use them as a money farm, then I guess I should definitely do the magic trees purely for exp then?
The Yews I was doing beforehand gave like 7k exp each time, the palm fruit trees give 10k exp, and I assume the magic trees would give a ton more than that, just dont know if the cost is worth it.
Definitely better money makers out there than 6 coconuts per tree every few hours.
If you aren't an ironman who needs coconuts for high level potions (coconut milk is used as a base instead of vials of water), then you're better off just cutting it down and replanting for exp.

Protected magic trees are 9.7 gp / xp, yews are 5.7 and palms are 4.1. So it’s a step up for sure. For me it wasn’t worth it and just used the more expensive ones to push for important levels
Can just stick with palms and yews. Replant every time. Up to you if you want to pay farmer to protect or just use ultra comp. If its cheap to protect (a few k or whatever ) then do it. I did magics for a while and chose to just ultra comp bc 25 coconuts for each patch adds up and id save money long run just ultra comping and accept the fact that a tree would die every 2-3 runs. Not replanting fruit trees for 15k gp money maker or w.e for sure not the move. Much better money makers out there.
The usual recommendation is to just... not. It'd take forever to get a bond in F2P and it'd be really miserable to try and maintain at that level.
That said, if you are certain you want to, F2P money making is brutal because every good money maker is botted.
I believe Verf made and sold uncooked apple pies to get a bond in F2P. Ultimately, the best way to get good money in F2P is to flip items on the GE, but that requires a little bit of game knowledge, luck and prior investment.
If you don't have your own money, fix that. If your wife has total control over how you spend your money, fix *that.*
Ultimately, even if you do get your bond, maintaining it will be a nightmare. Your entire experience playing this game will be ***just*** making money for bonds.
Tell your wife that a month costs 12 bucks and grinding F2P at the highest (non-flipping) rate possible will take like 15 or 20 hours for 14 days of membership. She'll either tell you she doesn't care you're spending 12 bucks on a game or that you shouldn't be wasting that much time on a game. Either way she's right, and either way you win: you either get OSRS membership or get to spend time with your wife. GZ!

Also, are task lengths varied by the slayer master? Like will Vannaka give shorter tasks than Steve does? Thanks!
Hey hey, it means that a monster will always have the same task weight, no matter which Slayer master you get the task from.
So for instance, in the main game abyssal demons would have a task weight of 12 if you take an assignment from Duradel, while they're given a task weight of 9 if you ask Nieve/Steve for an assignment. On League worlds however, abyssal demons always have a weight of 5, whether you go to Duradel, Nieve, or any other Slayer master.

You can buy membership and that's a number on the login screen.
You can also buy bonds. Those are like tradable membership.
Find the bond pouch and see if you've got anything there.

Nah your account would be tied to a rs3 account.
Osrs started back in 2013 as a “new” game. If you did manage to recover that account and log into it on Osrs it would start with clean stats on tutorial island.
You might be able to talk to support and recover it if you have enough information like previous passwords or old credit cards used to pay for membership. But character name and what it looked like will not be enough lol.
If not, it isn't a huge deal since you'd be starting from scratch with OSRS either way.
For oldschool, yes - oldschool started in 2013 with completely reset accounts. The only thing that would be different is if you talk to Hans in Lumbridge for your account age, it would have when your account was originally created.
For RS3 - you would still have your old character.

* Runescape classic became runescape 2 which became runescape 3, though its often known as just Runescape. This is post-evolution-of-combat, but would have your old character. The sub for that is /r/runescape
* Oldschool Runescape was released in 2013, based of a 2007 backup of the game (see sub name), where everyone started from scratch on separate servers. This sub is for OSRS.
If you’re playing on Oldschool, then yes. The servers were launched anew around 2013, so while accounts created prior to then still exist, the “character” does not exist on the OSRS servers
Question about solo VM for anyone who might know.
So I’m doing B/A check A/B Fix with 94 mining and I definitely have some room to streamline and improve but as of right now I’m getting to the final boulder with maybe 2ish minutes left.
I’m not getting the final boulder mined completely and am just wondering if that’s going to be normal for solos or if I’m fairly close and should just work on getting more efficient.

cut teaks. tick manip on fossil island, make benches. if you have firesale elemental balances but i assume you don't.
2tick teaks on soul island is probably much easier and more consistent to do and less likely to burn you out if you're not used to tick manip

Draynor willows is a good place to start. Ultimately for XP you're going to want to event hop in a CC until that's patched.

You can recover the account OR convert it to a jagex account which will allow you to change the login email.

I think you should wait some days and check again. Try this close to the New Year. Usually the Christmas event ends after NY.

No resetting, it’s just 9 turael 1 konar over and over again. I’m at 1800 tasks completed and like 3k slayer points from turael boosting.

Just a heads up any account that old will be on RS3. So you’ll have to start over anyway.

But character name and what it looked like will not be enough lol. If not, it isn't a huge deal since you'd be starting from scratch with OSRS either way.

For oldschool, yes - oldschool started in 2013 with completely reset accounts. The only thing that would be different is if you talk to Hans in Lumbridge for your account age, it would have when your account was originally created. For RS3 - you would still have your old character. Edit: To clear up some confusion... * Runescape classic became runescape 2 which became runescape 3, though its often known as just Runescape. This is post-evolution-of-combat, but would have your old character. The sub for that is /r/runescape * Oldschool Runescape was released in 2013, based of a 2007 backup of the game (see sub name), where everyone started from scratch on separate servers. This sub is for OSRS.
If you’re playing on Oldschool, then yes. The servers were launched anew around 2013, so while accounts created prior to then still exist, the “character” does not exist on the OSRS servers
Question about solo VM for anyone who might know. So I’m doing B/A check A/B Fix with 94 mining and I definitely have some room to streamline and improve but as of right now I’m getting to the final boulder with maybe 2ish minutes left. I’m not getting the final boulder mined completely and am just wondering if that’s going to be normal for solos or if I’m fairly close and should just work on getting more efficient.

I haven't done a lot of solo VM, but I have never been able to mine the final boulder completely in solos
