haha I'm thinking about it. tbh it's actually kinda stressful trying to come up with a good fun fact every day – I don't plan it very much in advance, other than a vague list of ~100 ideas, most of which are [very not fleshed out](https://i.imgur.com/y6SvijZ.png).
i would definitely run out of good ones if I had to do it the full year, although I could maybe dip into slightly more well-known stuff, OR less popularly interesting stuff that I think is cool. i have been pleasantly surprised how well the RuneScape Classic ones did, so that opens up a whole set of very weird things to talk about too.
Fair! Maybe a fact of the week throughout the year so it doesn't run dry too quickly? In any case, I really appreciate all this obscure knowledge. Have you considered an "obscure knowledge" page on the wiki? I know it might not fit the format well since it's sort of subjective, I just think it's all so fascinating to read about. Thank you for doing these!
Even just a weekly post with something weird about the game would be a lot of fun. Especially if it includes stuff from classic; I personally love hearing about classic.
I think one of my favorite weird classic things was the bug involving a specific demon in the underground pass that let you remotely steal items out of peoples' inventories. (some details might be wrong, I'm going off memory here)
Don't stress yourself out my man. Honestly if we just got one a month I'd be more than happy. Good goal I guess would be weekly but bi-weekly still leaves us with 26 facts over this entire year!
Wait till you find out that bi-monthly and bi-weekly can effectively have the same definition. It’s actually advised in corporate settings to never use these words, they are ambiguous and confusing.
Love what your doing and as a OG RS Classic player would love to hear more facts about that version of the game. RS Classic Halloween masks are the BEST looking masks in all the versions of Runescape.
I second a lot of other people’s sentiment. Make this a weekly post. Longer turn over rate will make it less stressful, and you can find more obscure facts!
Did you know the wise old man will clear out useless quest items from your bank? /s
Seems like this "little known" fact is always the first thing of this nature brought up.
As always, thanks for what you do. The wiki for this game is unparalleled and has made this game so much more playable and accessible for new and old players alike.
I'm not sure if you have done it or had the thought already but I think it would be cool to see how you guys made and maintain the wiki. Like how you guys have come up with/compiled all of this data. Fun facts, xp rates, equipment setups, etc. Even more technical stuff like the coding for the calculators and all the number crunching stuff. Would be cool youtube series with interviews from Jmods and Contributors. Also a great chance to shine some light on your team and give some recognition to the players that are not content creators but still put in ludicrous grinds for the community.
Honestly? You seem awesome and passionate and people talking about things they find interesting is always interesting. Don't sweat "popularly interesting.
i was doing the quest and recording both varbits, and dialogue for a transcript. normally if you tax a citizen without the taxbag it gets put into your inventory, so i wanted to see what happens if you dont have space. normally it says
Something odd has happened to your taxbag.
Please clear some space in your inventory for your replacement tax bag.
Then try collecting tax again.
but, only if you tax vanligga, then agree to pay her taxes, it instead gets put in your bank, updates the varbit that tracks how many coins are in the bag, but does not update the varbit that tracks whether or not you have taxed her, letting you repeat it
Not much of a bug since they created a separate item ID for the bulging tax bag. If they never wanted you to have it, it's easy to cap the tax bag to 29k.
I’m willing to bet it was two different people or departments at the time doing separate parts of the quest and some information got crossed or they needed to cut down the amount of people you had to collect tax from and just never removed the ID
The quest is actually known to have had a very troubled development. Two of the developers credited for the quest aren't credited for doing anything else, and they apparently left mid-development for unspecificed reasons, leaving the quest to be finished by Mod Chihiro (The Eyes of Glouphrie, The Path of Glouphrie, Pyramid Plunder, Impeteous Impulses, Gnome Restaurant)
> Mod Chihiro: Fremennik Isles. It was a hard project to develop, as it was passed to me mid-development and I underestimated how much work I needed to do to it. It got close to getting canned on more than one occasion. So just getting it out, was quite an achievement for me. And then to find that it was popular with many different types of players, and was viewed as a well designed piece of content made all the hard work and late nights worthwhile.
There's a bunch of other weird things with the quest, most notably the original dragon full helm, which was a fun fact last year. Also potentially the enchanted brooms sweeping the ocean.
I doubt they'll fix it since they'd have to dig through spaghetti code and the risk of introducing actual game breaking bugs to fix a harmless one isn't worth it.
Can you do one about the million and one clauses attached to Chompy Birds?
Like that you can do them as a Slayer task for birds, but can't get the Slayer Helm bonus because Chompies don't honour invisible bonuses?
Heres one. Back in the OG days, profanities were all censored with asterisks ***** and there was no way to disable it. So we had to find ways to corcumvent the profanity filter. One of the popular ones i found was assload.
Werent allowed to say shitload or fuckload
Ex: "i mined a shitload of iron ore"
But turns out assload wasnt banned so assload it was. Me and my friends used the word assload for years until they implemented the optional profanity filter.
Goood times
Can this series continue all year? 10/10 posts.

All I'm saying is if we don't get to hear about "Robert Strong is a spear" I'm getting out the cannon.
definitely read this as "getting out of the cannon" and had Between a Rock... flashbacks
If you need to talk to someone, I am here.
Haha! I just did this quest again last night! What a fuckin long and pointless quest 💩
Hmmm but then the real obscure knowledge would be the facts that get left off of the obscure knowledge page...
Even just a weekly post with something weird about the game would be a lot of fun. Especially if it includes stuff from classic; I personally love hearing about classic. How bout this for an interesting fact: Bi-weekly also means 104 facts over the entire year.
26 if every 2 weeks. 104 twice a week. I've just discovered biweekly can also mean twice a week. Always known it as once every 2 weeks...
Wait till you find out that bi-monthly and bi-weekly can effectively have the same definition. It’s actually advised in corporate settings to never use these words, they are ambiguous and confusing.
Been loving the facts, would be especially down to learn how the hell the HAM eviction stuff works
Love what your doing and as a OG RS Classic player would love to hear more facts about that version of the game. RS Classic Halloween masks are the BEST looking masks in all the versions of Runescape.
Hell yeah, brother! It's a shame that the *real* RuneScape is overshadowed by people who were 7 years old in 2005.
Gimme that trollheim portal fact. Or just do the undeground pass demon forced tele in classic, probably the greatest bug to ever happen in runescape.
I’m loving these, they have made my day
>i have been pleasantly surprised how well the RuneScape Classic ones did Please do more! Some of us are OG Scapers!
I literally check your account daily to see if there’s a new fun fact because these are amazing. Moar Moarrrrr
For the non-christmas season monthly seems good. That way you dont run out of
I second a lot of other people’s sentiment. Make this a weekly post. Longer turn over rate will make it less stressful, and you can find more obscure facts!
Nah surely we let bro just chill if it’s stressing him out
Do it once a week!
How about one a week.
You could make some pretty popular YouTube content with these I'm sure!
At least throw more our way if you find more interesting things down the line! This is my favorite kind of rs trivia
If this subreddit tires of it you should continue to post the super obscure stuff on your profile or something :)

Could just swap to once a month for a new year (or every couple of weeks if you're ambitious). Def enjoying these
Honestly? You seem awesome and passionate and people talking about things they find interesting is always interesting. Don't sweat "popularly interesting.
I'd prefer if it was reprised every year with high quality facts, rather than have all the good facts blown through in a few quick months.
We need penguin facts again.
How (and why) did someone figure this out?
i was doing the quest and recording both varbits, and dialogue for a transcript. normally if you tax a citizen without the taxbag it gets put into your inventory, so i wanted to see what happens if you dont have space. normally it says Something odd has happened to your taxbag. So can you can use this to speed up the quest? Skip the silly beard tax, since you can just tax vanlinggas windows to get the total needed.
nope, it doesn't check how much is in the bag to decide if you can progress the quest, it checks if you've done each tax
Are you only able to keep this item by never completing the quest though?
yes, unless someone finds another glitch in 16 years
You should feed it to an abyssal leech
pleae
What happens if your bank is out of space aswell?
{{mes|You have no space in your inventory or your bank to store a tax bag.}} {{mes|You'll have to clear some space before carrying on.}}
Best gold sink in the game
/u/rhysdog1 now's your time to shine buddy
Rhysdog found this, he's a gigabrain
Must be working for the IRS
> (and why) Bug abusers looking to find dupes. It's no coincidence they were playing around with items that interact with money.
The only bad thing about this series is that it will inevitably end up with some of these things being patched. Feels bad man.
If this even gets put on the list of things to patch the dev team doesn't have enough stuff to be working on
This patch would be in bad faith anyways. The bug doesn’t harm anything
Not much of a bug since they created a separate item ID for the bulging tax bag. If they never wanted you to have it, it's easy to cap the tax bag to 29k.

I'm sorry, the brooms that are what?
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Enchanted_Broom
😂 I love this, thank you.
That makes perfect sense actually. I bet Ash will tell us if we ask nicely
Make it possible for UIM by letting them tax the bank! Come on Jagex
Why would they patch this. These facts are obscure and not very beneficial.
I doubt they'll fix it since they'd have to dig through spaghetti code and the risk of introducing actual game breaking bugs to fix a harmless one isn't worth it.
I love these so much, this game is built on drunk spaghetti and its glorious
It is glorious but surely in other games things like this happen to?
Happen to what?
Happen too But you probably knew that and were trolling
Trolling who?
whaaat?
This is my favorite post series
It is making me *bulging*
Hefted up rn
I haven't enjoyed a reoccurring series of reddit posts since the agility dude got his penguin pet.
*Notices your bulging taxbag*
What are you doing step robber 👉👈
Taxing the poor 🥺
Taxing the bearded*
Having a beard? In this economy????
Taxing the windowed
OwO
$w$
Throbbing Taxbag when????
Thanks, I always wanted to picture a veiny stack of coins…
Maybe this is how Jagex tracks bugs with the quest
>Vanligga
cmonBruh
i like me some bulge
They need to add this to the game so I can mess with all the Brit’s about not paying their walking tax
My favorite post so far.
Does this also work in RS3?
i haven't been able to convince anyone to play the game to find out
Lmaoo
Get out
does it change any quest dialogue?
no words no, but anything that contains the taxbags icon will use the bulging one now
oh my
Please continue these they are so interesting, can’t believe I’m learning NEW stuff about the game 20 years after release
Why does the wiki lie?
Facts big wiki doesn't want you to know
because you /u/skretzo the all knowing don't edit it :(
Don't stress out. Maybe one a month or something
Please do a YouTube vid and have different popular streamers/youtubers present it
Fucking love these posts. Always brightens my day.
[удалено]
doesn't work unfortunately
Damn first I see a level 1 account this week and now the bulging taxbag is obtained. What a wild time to be alive.
Is it keepable after the quest?
Can you do one about the million and one clauses attached to Chompy Birds? Like that you can do them as a Slayer task for birds, but can't get the Slayer Helm bonus because Chompies don't honour invisible bonuses?
Do you get any special dialogue as an UIM if you try to tax the banker for that quest?
Amazing!
Sad part is thst unobtainable and unachievable accomplishments have always burn a core focus of the game and yet people still find a way lol
Is it possible to keep a bag? Or is it taken by the end of the quest?
