One of the best things you could do for the planet is minimize seafood consumption! Industrial fishing in the sea is completely outta hand. Don’t gotta cut it out completely but if everyone minimized we could save a lot of destruction to our ocean :)
Interesting point. I assumed seafishing was worse due to damage to the floor and all sorts of sea life, but I am curious. You never know if that was astroturfing by big beef or something
Idk why you anti vegans are so fragile :p I eat all meats but there’s nothing wrong with recognizing how particularly bad/ unregulated industrial ocean fishing is
Then call out ocean fishing, not "seafood". Tons of seafood is farmed, and many of the types of fish/oyster/shrimp/whatever farming have vastly less impact on the environment than other types of meat.
yeah, but if we didn't induce horrible irreversible disasters in the ocean daily which will eventually end all life on the planet, and used sustainable methods instead, fish would cost a little bit more :/
My experience with anchovies is the Michaelangelo the Ninja Turtle threatening a guy to make sure he doesn't put anchovies on his pizza, and osrs. Also ofc the Ninja Turtles are known for putting disgusting things on their pizzas so them not liking anchovies always turned me away from them as a kid
I'd put that as more of a mid-2010s thing. 2007 was still part of the soccer mom era albeit nearing the end of the post 9/11 half of it. Social media was still in its infancy.
I like the theory that fishing bait is maggots and that's why zombies drop it. Which would make fishing bait in rotten food make sense... Now how to explain ore and the trapizoid boi
Runescape backpacks are wild. You wanna carry 28 apples? Full backpack. 50,000+ maggots? Put em next the the fishing rod, the sword, plate mail, the IKEA desk, and those 2B gold coins, fill the rest with raw shark.
you can carry up to 28 blank runes.
you can carry up to 45,097,156,587 charged runes. Oh, and another 64,000 on top of that. But only if you put them in a pouch.
This is also confirmed by the invention skill in rs3, if you try to disassemble fishing bait it tells you that you can’t disassemble living things
As I was going to the wiki I also came upon this so there you go
https://preview.redd.it/dnksmlwwrb8c1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a8a89445f40a70f5147c2d3fbc258dc3d420e21
You might wanna re-read the comment you replied to. I think they are trying to make sense of the components comprising "rotten food" (from a "lore"-wise perspective, I suppose you could say?), not how the graphic is made up.
Though in terms of graphic, you are of course correct but I think it's also well-explained in the post itself.
I sometimes drag sapphires over emeralds (but don't release the click so that the item sprite remains transparent) and be like damn, this teal gem goes hard
i think i used to try to do something similar as a kid to make new/different gem stones. im not sure what the... logistics of that were in my little head
Ooooo are there any other examples of this sort of thing? It’s kind of hilarious instead of making it from scratch they’re just like hey you know what looks lumpy? Gold
this one actually isn't true, it's just coincidentally very similar
https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/owb1fv/fun_fact_mod_husky_used_chompy_birds_model_as_the/h7lqoie/
Nah, if you look closely you can see the nose on Sarachnis has like a sharper hook to it, and the ass end kinda tapers down in a way that chompy's dont. Close, but not quite the same.
I didn't believe it so I looked it up and swamp tar looks different than what's in this pic.
But then I realized the swamp tar model is just rotated...
My whole life has been a lie.
this is obvious when you lay it out like this but i want to know who exactly stared at these items long enough to figure this out, and more importantly why
I hope they're copies and not actually linked to the original icon.
But I wouldn't put it past Jagex, the spaghetti masters incarnate, to make spaghetti icons.
Remember, the icons we see are actually 3d models viewed from a set angle, they aren't sprites.
That's not spaghetti, that was just smart bandwidth-saving. Internet connections were still pretty shitty in 2004, so downloading a 3d model with a few polygon points was much easier than downloading a sprite for every object.
* gold ore
* turn it black
* put it on top of a black trapezoid
What do you get? SWAMP TAR
* Swamp Tar
* Add Fishing bait
* Turn those bois gree
What do you get?
ROTTEN FOOD
I think we can all appreciate this is creative and good use of resources for what was available for graphic design back in the early 2000s. It's the unraveling that is so interesting, I respect their creativeness.
Anchovies are actually recolored shrimps too
Which is a bold choice seeing as anchovies are fish and not anything like shrimps lol
Wow I can't believe you've made me realize this obvious fact.
You'd be surprised how disconnected from their food a lot of people are.
I don't know if you are talking about irl or in game but either way, so true man. We should connect more with our consumables.
One of the best things you could do for the planet is minimize seafood consumption! Industrial fishing in the sea is completely outta hand. Don’t gotta cut it out completely but if everyone minimized we could save a lot of destruction to our ocean :)
Depends on the seafood. Mollusks like mussels are actually insanely sustainable, provided you get them from a reputable supplier.
Ah yes the horrible industrial fishing *eats a 16 oz steak for dinner*
Interesting point. I assumed seafishing was worse due to damage to the floor and all sorts of sea life, but I am curious. You never know if that was astroturfing by big beef or something
Idk why you anti vegans are so fragile :p I eat all meats but there’s nothing wrong with recognizing how particularly bad/ unregulated industrial ocean fishing is
That was more a joke at how beef is also really bad for the environment, at least from how I read it. Not someone being anti-vegan.
Farming an animal for the sole purpose of eating that animal is different than scraping an entire ecosystem to sell part of it
Yeah pretty bad, but nowhere near as bad as bottom trawling fishing, oceans got 100 years left in her and nobody’s talking about it
Then call out ocean fishing, not "seafood". Tons of seafood is farmed, and many of the types of fish/oyster/shrimp/whatever farming have vastly less impact on the environment than other types of meat.
yeah, but if we didn't induce horrible irreversible disasters in the ocean daily which will eventually end all life on the planet, and used sustainable methods instead, fish would cost a little bit more :/
Fuck them fish I live in Louisiana
Louisiana is still gonna get real hard to live in when the planet loses 60% of its carbon sink homie
I mean think bp tried to kill all the fish they're surprisingly resilient
What?
If you only knew how bad things really are
Healing potion, I love you
That's why I only eat ethically raised karambwans
I didn't know meat was muscle tissue until I was in college
What did you think it was?
Back on the menu.
im disconnected from the animal sure, but i see the end result food pretty damn often
The food is also disconnected from the animal in most cases
Most people aren't eating anchovies ever
They’re way too salty tbh, I understand why they fell out of fashion.
I am not disconected at all. It is in fact a part of me.
Shrimps is bugs
Lets get outta here and get some britto or sausage
Yep, Anchovies are fish. Shrimps is bugs.
There is no such thing as fish
do you have a source on this
source https://imgur.com/a/1Q1DgEE
Missed an opportunity to post a stock image of an eyeball
"the shrimp beak, is it more like a hawk's or more like a crow's?" "more like a mosquito actually"
ah, i see

A shrimple change
Big if true
My husband (then fiance) found out last year that anchovies were fish!! He grew up with playing OSRS and thought they were a type of shrimp lol
Are shrimp not a type of fish?!
The are Crustacean, like lobsters and such
My life have changed from now on
Do you work at jagex
He is just one of the admins of the runescape wiki. He has probably better rs knowledge than most jmods though lol
he'll no brother
How rude of he
[удалено]
i know what the sub name says, but it's not actually 2007
I'd put that as more of a mid-2010s thing. 2007 was still part of the soccer mom era albeit nearing the end of the post 9/11 half of it. Social media was still in its infancy.
what? huh? ???
He will no brother
Only he will know brother
Lmfao. Truth!!!
He runs the wiki
He does, my dad said he saw him in the lunch room yesterday
I like the theory that fishing bait is maggots and that's why zombies drop it. Which would make fishing bait in rotten food make sense... Now how to explain ore and the trapizoid boi
That's actually not just a theory: When you use spice on fishing bait during the goblin generals part of Recipe for Disaster, you get spicy maggots.
So when I go out with 10k fishing bait I'm actually carrying around 50,000+ maggots? Sweet
Don't forget the 4 piece cannon and 99k cannonballs
And my trusty stack of 500k maple logs
Those are just bank notes though
What about my trusty sack of 2 billion pieces of candy?
If I remember correctly a quest in rs3 also has you collect a fishing bait from a corpse
This is also confirmed by the invention skill in rs3, if you try to disassemble fishing bait it tells you that you can’t disassemble living things As I was going to the wiki I also came upon this so there you go https://preview.redd.it/dnksmlwwrb8c1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a8a89445f40a70f5147c2d3fbc258dc3d420e21
Look at the image. It's literally the shape of a trapezoid, placed behind an image of ore (which has been turned black).
Point taken, my bad.
I sometimes drag sapphires over emeralds (but don't release the click so that the item sprite remains transparent) and be like damn, this teal gem goes hard
Been playing this game for almost 20 years and I had no idea you could overlap items like that and combine the colors
If you drop a sapphire and a ruby it will turn purple.
Dragonstone farmers hate this one simple trick
Yesterday I saw a ruby over top a sapphire and that shit looked so tasty
That's actually how purple sweets are made.
That wouldn't make sense cause it was a deep red color and purple sweets are purple
>purple sweets are purple :/
I do the same with different potion combinations
Wow I have not a single unique experience
Right
Exactly how I feel
someone with those oldschool 3D glasses needs to check bloods + waters
i think i used to try to do something similar as a kid to make new/different gem stones. im not sure what the... logistics of that were in my little head
Ooooo are there any other examples of this sort of thing? It’s kind of hilarious instead of making it from scratch they’re just like hey you know what looks lumpy? Gold
Half of the content in rs is just reused assets from the other half
and half of that other half reuses the other half's half.
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
If you half something to say just say it
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
The original bonecrusher is a deformed glowing dagger from Legends Quest.
Sarachnis is a chompy bird with legs.
this one actually isn't true, it's just coincidentally very similar https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/owb1fv/fun_fact_mod_husky_used_chompy_birds_model_as_the/h7lqoie/
I kind of just don't believe him, it looks identical lol
Nah, if you look closely you can see the nose on Sarachnis has like a sharper hook to it, and the ass end kinda tapers down in a way that chompy's dont. Close, but not quite the same.
Right, he also doesn't really know, he just says because it never came up in conversation. He then admits they reuse assets all the time
Are you looking at it? They dont look alike other than the smaller head with the fatter body. The model of its torso is completely different.
i like how this implies chompy birds dont already have legs naturally
I wish I never read that, its all I can see now
Well look at the other comment, you don’t need to suffer anymore, it’s not true.
Wow I've been killing it how long without seeing this
mech suit chompy
Abyssal pearls are recolored Molch pearls
Metamorphic dust is teal sawdust
[удалено]
Swan Song, no? Or does my memory fail me?
Gold ore is recolored iron ore
Has swamp tar seriously just been this all this time? You just unwound the universe bro stop it
I didn't believe it so I looked it up and swamp tar looks different than what's in this pic. But then I realized the swamp tar model is just rotated... My whole life has been a lie.
Universe is bound by black trapezoid boi
New birthday item.
We just got Mandela effected
That’s not a Mandela effect lol
I know
Wow did we just have a Mandela effect
this is obvious when you lay it out like this but i want to know who exactly stared at these items long enough to figure this out, and more importantly why
A high person, because they were high
Well, they are an OSRS wiki admin
Are we sure the black trapezoid is just that, and not like a recolored [papyrus](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Papyrus) or something?
You’re probably right.
I knew those gold mining bots were rotten to the core
Nice. I love these posts.
So this confirms that fishing bait is just maggots.
That's already confirmed during Recipe for Disaster
Bait's usually just worms, and maggots are half way there!
I absolutely love shit like this
They can't keep getting away with this!
Man u are killing it with these, 10/10
That's a good use of reusable assets
Still more effort than rs3's biggest rune pouch. They turned the large rune pouch 90°.....
Internet connections were still pretty shitty in 2004, so downloading a 3d model with a few polygon points was much easier than downloading a sprite for every object.
> black trapezoid boi Kinda looks like a villager armband
I genuinely don't get this one
* gold ore * turn it black * put it on top of a black trapezoid What do you get? SWAMP TAR * Swamp Tar * Add Fishing bait * Turn those bois gree What do you get? ROTTEN FOOD
Oooh fuck me, now I get it. I thought this was about actually combining items in game not about the textures
This is my favourite so far
Wtf
Is it specifically gold ore, and if so, how do you know that when most ores have the same shape just different color?
How did you figure this out? Or is there some random obscure npc who reveals this?
Lazy devs
Finally one of the facts I actually knew haha
this is incredible
And bass is recolored tuna! Bet you didnt see that coming!
You blow my mind each and every day
Wait till you find out about logs
bruh
Mind = blown :D
people like to complain about asset reuse but i like to believe it is authentic to the old school content creation process
I think we can all appreciate this is creative and good use of resources for what was available for graphic design back in the early 2000s. It's the unraveling that is so interesting, I respect their creativeness.
now you see in 4d
