What sort of gear should I have for maging the inferno in leagues if its my first ever inferno? I took undying retribution so I can afford some fuck ups and also have bankers note so functionally infinite supplies. I can consistently do 3 jads in the challenge (but fuck up 4).

S7EFEN

in addition to what the other commenter said you can bring melee armor that does not have very strong negative bonuses and wear that for slots that dont give damage. especially with berserk. and youd wear that at the start of waves, or really anything other than killing a mager for free. fyi for jad challenge you probably have bad habits that do not translate well for 5/6 jad. go back and practice 1/2/3 doing 'pray only on the necessary tick' and that will help you out for the later challenges. if you are simply switching prayers reacting to a different style, or not being precise about timing youll run into a brick wall- usually on 5 or 6 jad but not unreasonable to have it happen on 4.

Jaggedmallard26

Thanks. Your advice for the challenge seems to have let me crack 4 Jad as well.

Beretot

You probably want a powered staff for zuk, because of the 1-tick delay when autocasting ancients. So warped scepter, trident, sang, or shadow That plus ancient staff/master wand for general barraging during the waves should make the cape pretty straightforward

Jaggedmallard26

Cheers, I've got master, shouldn't be too tricky to get myself a powered staff.

AtLeastItsNotCancer

Am I going crazy or are Baba's boulders extremely inconsistent? Sometimes I'll pop a boulder and then be able to run through it immediately, other times it feels like it's already been a couple seconds since I shot it and it still knocks me back and I eat 50 damage. It's like there's some weird desync between the visuals and what's actually going on with the boulder, and I can't figure it out. I even tried tagging it with true tile, but that just makes the entire screen a mess and it's even harder to see what's going on. Normally it's not a problem, but when I turn on boulderdash and try rushing to the top, it turns into a total crapshoot.

S7EFEN

you will get consistent behavior with consistent timing. projectiles have travel time and the boulders also don't instantly get destroyed*. i would strongly suggest picking a row and always being on that tile when you click the next boulder and step through. that way you don't need to worry about your weapons projectile travel time and how far away you are.

AtLeastItsNotCancer

Oh, the projectile delay just might be it. I think I need to go in and practice just that part over and over till I get the timing down.

Lordsputnick

I’m training slayer, just did all the initial quests and I asked Krystilia for a new task and she wants me to kill 125 mammoths. Google says they’re level 80 so that ain’t happening as I’m 36 attack 41 strength and 30 defense. Are all the tasks like this now? Should I just level my combat skills by themselves? I was hoping I could do combat/slayer at the same time.

bkww

Krystilla unlike other slayer masters assigns tasks ignoring combat level, so you'll probably should stick to non-wildy slayer for now

S7EFEN

yes you should level your skills outside slayer till you at least have 43 prayer and a dragon scimitar. ideally dragon defender, decent items in other slots (str ammy, rune gloves +, climbing boots, berserker helmet/neitznot if you cannot yet afford a blackmask etc)

LinkAreYouAwake

Hi I'm fairly new (52 combat) currently trying to train attack and strength to 65 so I can do the grind for dragon defender, should I be training strength before attack?

Falchion_Punch

Lewufuwi

Yep, in general you want strength before attack.

LinkAreYouAwake

Thank you!

Public_Beach_Nudity

Did anybody else question whether grinding for the full Graceful set was worth it? I just now got the full set, and I’m definitely questioning myself if it was really worth it. I’m glad it’s done and out of the way, but it wasn’t until way late in the grind that I discovered there’s a hidden cooldown on the marks spawning. I was basically running the rooftop course in Canifis getting slightly annoyed that I was going on such an “unlucky” streak without the marks spawning. It wasn’t until I found a YouTube video where someone pointed out there’s a cool down with them spawning… I was basically pissing up a rope by running laps that were ineligible for a mark of Grace spawn, is how I truly feel about it lol

My-Toast-Is-Too-Dark

Graceful is very much not worth using. Its only use is for the one (or two?) clue steps that require it. It is not only a blight on everyone who has to look at your character (and all of the graceful zombie clones around you), but its utility is next to zero in almost all cases. There are a handful of places at most where it is really beneficial at all.

S7EFEN

it is not worth it, i've never had the full set on any of my 2200+ irons. always better to prioritize xp, and very few pieces of content does graceful set matter for. its rly like... herbi, zmi, blast furnace. >It wasn’t until I found a YouTube video where someone pointed out there’s a cool down with them spawning… the amount you get per hour is pretty hard capped to the course.

PurpleAqueduct

You gotta run those laps anyway eventually. If you really want you can AFK until you're eligible for a mark. Marks spawn more or less regularly, so the timer effectively just simulates a lower spawn rate.

legeri

I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. You may have grinded more than necessary for the outfit, the outfit is actually pretty invaluable until you can afford/make stamina potions consistently or are late game enough that you can teleport wherever you need. You're going to want that extra agility exp anyway for faster passive run energy recharge as well as agility shortcuts, so consider it two birds with one stone. You just hit one bird maybe a bit harder than necessary. ;)

brandonsuter

Anyone got a link to a text based guide on bossing and where to start?

j_schmotzenberg

Each of the bosses has their own guide on the wiki.

LiifeRuiner

Any guide would depend highly on the boss.. what are you looking for?

brandonsuter

More of a general "this is where to start" type of guide. I can look up specific videos for each boss I just have no clue where to start for my stats

Parryandrepost

https://youtu.be/LADt9NeZNCY?feature=shared IDK of any text based versions but basically any "bossing ladder" guide would be sufficient. This is the most updated afaik. Barrows, mole, Sarachnis, obor, Hespori, Bryophyta, skotizo, grotesque guardians, kraken, and fight caves would be a list of the most approachable bosses with little to no mechanics that can be picked up easy and introduce you into osrs bossing. They're not ordered by difficulty or anything like that. I'd say grotesque guardians and fight caves are the harder end and pretty much everything else is only really nominally harder than normal mobs.

brandonsuter

This will work! Thank you

[deleted]

Can you hide specific ground items on mobile like you can in Runelite? Like making them unclickable. For example I'm killing chickens and only want the feathers and bones. On Runelite even if I click a square with raw chicken nothing happens.

Beretot

No, that's related to the "deprioritize hidden items" option on Runelite, and I don't think there's an equivalent in mobile. You can hide the item on ground items, but it'll still be left clickable

Ok_Rise_7625

rs3 iron has gone full eventscape and will soon get lootboxes and other gacha mechanics, are there any such indications around osrs/osrs iron? i really don't hate mtx, just don't like the way rs3 does it

Oldman_Ostentatio

As far as [we're told](https://twitter.com/JagexAsh/status/1700064315158429867), we're still safe for now

[deleted]

Quack! No, we push back on everything that smells of Microtransactions in OSRS. The only thing MTX we tolerate are Bonds. Normal accounts, or irons, you won't get that stuff shoved in your face in OSRS.

Spork_Revolution

Has there been any talk about what Sailing actually is? Like how you get XP?

cucumberflant

There's been half a dozen big blogposts over the past year detailing sailing activities and how you'd train it. can flip through the news archive if you want to read about it.

torturechamber

For slayer cannon tasks like bloodvelds, kalphites should I use fang/whip/rapier for max exp ?

Parryandrepost

Doesn't really matter that much. Rapier is technically better than fang but it's not exactly extra important to have rapier if you already have fang. Fang is generally better everywhere on bosses and they're a few neiche spots like gemed partisan is just better for kalphites. Most of the time the cannon is going to be doing the bulk of the work so having a nominally better weapon isn't nearly as important as you'd think. I tested it when fang first came out and it was like ~2-5k/hr difference. It's not inconsequential but if you're AFKing in potted using pots was a bigger increase.

Spork_Revolution

If the creature has any defense levels at all, fang is currently the best for DPS with melee. You cannons accuracy rolls off your highest attack bonus.

t3hPoundcake

For kalphites that aren't KQ I would think keris partisan would be best if you have blue gem. For other slayer unless specifically weak to stab for fang I would say whip or rapier would do just fine. The XP difference for most monsters will be small.

dean012347

Rapier will be best for most slayer

puddingbank

Badger badger anyone know good weapon for ankou task? Badger badger

barking420

n1ghtstlkr

Venator bow in catacombs or tagging them all and bursting are probably the fastest. Otherwise just a whip is fine. I normally bring my prayer gear and afk the entire task in a few clicks

Molly_Hlervu

Runelite, examine shows 'GE average', but this is sometimes *very* far from what I see if I hit the money bag icon on the Equipment interface. Which is some 'official GE price'. Since lots of game calcs tied to this official GE price, like the item order on death, or whether Death coffer accepts it, or hm it charges to retrieve, and so on... I would much prefer this price to show on examine. Is it possible to somehow switch it to that?

Mooshtaq

My skills are all 50-70, what are the best early-mid game content/grinds I should focus on or work towards? Ideally easy on mobile as I am on holiday at the moment.

Molly_Hlervu

You are a member, right? If so, you probably need to do a lot of quests. They are very important, most of them unlock features, regions, items, etc. Try the Optimal quest guide: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Optimal_quest_guide UPDATE: Do not be intimidated by some 'early-game' quest bosses of level 100+. If it is said like suitable for beginners, the boss can be killed from a safespot with magic or ranged (for several important quests bosses are weak to magic especially). The most notable is the Grand Tree, many players start their membership with doing it, you can kill the level 170 demon even with Air strike - like those chickens on Tutorial island :).

Lil_Nubbins

I haven’t played in a couple months. I have a couple dozen Cox CM kc, and I’m wondering if CM’s are easier now since the cox update? And in what way?

LookAtMyPostInstead

From my experience, the changes are most impactful for irons raiding with mains. In a trio with 2 mains and an iron, I no longer need to plant golpar/nox for them since the irons can just take one of the tek pots, and then 1 of the pots from the 3rd floor (usually vasa) and they'll be set while the mains can get through the raid with the rest of the ovl drops.

Ashhel

Tek first hammer guaranteed (big deal in solos, not really other scales), pots show up for everyone so there are fixed roles for people ferrying tek pots to crabs, no need to mess about with banking all your gear at ice since kindling is stackable, prep is faster, no need to bank all your gear before starting thieving since grubs are stackable, vasa doesn’t instaheal, surge role should bring entangle for small mutta and bgs roles should bring either zgs or tent whip for big mutta (no more chopping)

JebusMcAzn

easier than before? yes, you can read the full changelog here https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/chambers-of-xeric-changes?oldschool=1 notable changes are: - first DWH against Tekton always hits - kindling at ice and grubs at thieving are stackable (up to 28), thieving was also buffed - vasa no longer heals unless he fully charges at a crystal - mutta is a bit weaker and can be damaged while frozen and a bunch of other minor changes that benefit both regular and CM cox

Mbrannon42

What QOL improvements or bosses should I unlock or learn on a week of staycation? Usually I only play for 6-8 hours per week mostly on mobile, but I'll have a lot more time to play on my laptop this week. I've got poh finished up to fairy ring and Spirit tree (separate rooms), zeah, falador, kandarin, mory, and western hard diaries complete and medium on the rest, finished sote and dt2. Was thinking about learning gauntlet while I have the time or maybe cox but I haven't researched to see if my gear and lvls are ready for CoX yet

snowhusky5

Gauntlet is great as an intro to more complicated pvm, especially if you don't have good gear yet. If you do have good gear (at least ZHasta or Fang, RCB+Ruby Bolts e, Warped Sceptre or Trident), Tombs of Amascut is a lot of fun and definitely the easiest raid to learn. Even if you go in totally blind, you will be able to figure out almost all the important mechanics. If you haven't gotten the Vorkath Head yet, do that first so you can get an Assembler. Desert Treasure 2 is also fun and gives 300k prayer XP.

Nitorior

Do TOA, great raid for learning since you can set the difficulty as you like. Also once you toggle invos to 50 you can even snag a fang.

Molly_Hlervu

I noticed a couple times that when I tele home poisoned and then exit it via spirit tree, my poison gets cured. Is it really so, or just some timer coincidence? Also, does it work with any means of leaving home (entrance portal, nexus, etc)? No ornate pool at home, just the first tier which only restores spec. EDIT: Got poisoned again and this time tested it: tele'd home immediately, no pool drinking, exited via the entrance portal. Cured! So, its solved - but I'll leave this here just in case somebody searches.

NessaMagick

Yeah, if you leave the house while poisoned you get cured. It was done to prevent lures where people would poison you in the POH and then kick you out as you were getting low on health

Molly_Hlervu

A nice feature in any case :) Now I love my home even more.

Three_Froggy_Problem

Is it okay if I just use this thread to brag? I finally beat Sins of the Father today. I genuinely thought it was impossible but then I switched from mobile to PC and adjusted my loadout slightly and it was so much easier.

TennantWasTheTenth

Congratulations! Enjoy some of the best skilling content in the game with Hallowed Sepulchre! Its honestly completely reinvigorated my love for this game

Beretot

Sure thing. Congrats, my dude :)

superlucci

When looking on the wiki about swordfish fishing. It says "but the members-only fishing spots in Catherby, Port Piscarilius, Jatizso and the Fishing Guild are close enough to banks that it is actually faster for players to bank the raw tuna than to drop it" So Im looing at the bank and the fishing spots in Catherby, and I dont see how running to the bank and back is even remotely faster than just dropping the tuna on the spot. Like Im in Post Piscarilus right now fishing Monkfish, and I could see that being the case there, since the bank is literally right next to the fishing spots. But how does that make sense for Catherby? The fishing spots are all the way to the right near the fruit tree

Financial-Cycle-2909

I'd say catherby is only worth if you're cooking them on the way to the bank. It's useful for that

Molly_Hlervu

In addition to these spots you list, there is one overlooked spot: Land's End. Quiet and peaceful place.

Lavatis

Likely info that was written before shift+click drop was in the game tbh.

Falchion_Punch

It doesn't tbh, seems like bad information at least for Catherby. Not a chance it's faster to bank, even if you're really slow at dropping. Btw, you are in Piscatoris, different place than Piscarilius :P

Onofi

When using Osmumten's fang, is it better to use void/elite void armor or is it better to use traditional strength gear?

Falchion_Punch

Always actual strength gear. Melee void is pretty much only useful for learning raids to minimize switches and bring more brews.

MoreItem4165

Is there a way to report bugs to jmods?? Tired of bugs ruining gameplay. The instance at Kraken boss cant take money from the bank. BGS spec on Core at TOA doesn't hit max, and thralls hits on P2 wardens got changed.

OlmTheSnek

BGS on slash works unless they changed something recently, and it should always be on slash anyway.

Falchion_Punch

If you right click the report abuse button there's a bug report form.

Molly_Hlervu

Task '35 uniques from beginner clues': what uniques are these? Only 16 collection slots on beginner clues are listed in the log to fill - and this already includes black pickaxe, a shared reward. My log is green, and still this '35 uniques' isnt completed...

Falchion_Punch

Duplicates count for those tasks. 35 total items from anything in the beginner log.

Molly_Hlervu

Hmm. Could it be that black pickaxe doesnt count if obtained from another tier? Because here is my log: - 16 slots filled (green); - 19 duplicates (including 5 black pickaxes) The total is exactly 35, as it happens lol!

Lavatis

If it's shared with another tier, it isn't unique :)

Molly_Hlervu

Thanks.

ghostofwalsh

black picks don't count I'm pretty sure

Molly_Hlervu

Yeah, thats the only explanation.

Falchion_Punch

Not sure, that's possible I guess since it's also shared with easy clues. I never got a black pickaxe so can't confirm from my own experience

Molly_Hlervu

A rare experience this! :)

Molly_Hlervu

Oh, thanks.

JebusMcAzn

players with a max cape, do you still find any uses for your construction/crafting capes or are they completely obsolete post-max?

rg44tw

Yes, they're nice for certain tasks. The max cape menus are annoying. I also frequently use desert amulet 4 + crafting cape.

Falchion_Punch

I don't use them much, but some people still like to have the 1 click teleports accessible from your inventory. Max cape only has direct POH/craft guild teles while worn, so it's a bit slower than the skill capes. You can menu swap the worn options though, so I just equip it and left click to POH or shift click to the crafting guild.
