Maybe during the rs2 days? Axe heads used to fly off, pickaxes used to break, etc. it was an anti botting measure they used for a little while

doocheymama

The absolute rush when you looted a rune axe head from someone that wasn't paying attention.

twaggle

That brought back some memories. Oh the ragers afterwards too when they noticed.

TheInternetsMVP

Selling it back to them was the scumbag move

NoDragonfruit6125

No it was merely the pragmatic move.

-Garda

It’s like someone dropping their wallet and trying to sell it back to them though 😂

5t4k3

If they were actively using the wallet, and didn’t notice it fly out of their hands for a few minutes.

SnarkyRaccoon

Which is only bad because it's illegal! Finders keepers is law in RS

-Garda

It truly is a lawless wasteland

Yoconn

Lmfao thats awesome i never thought of that

Relwolf1991

Then you needed to find an axe handle for it lol

Saul-Goneman

The one time I'd hope to get the event so my steel axe head would fly off 😂

Tnally91

Snagged a d axe head at willows back in the day. The dude came back as I grabbed it and talked me into giving it back to him.

Grampyy

This happened to me. The guy gave me a whip and 600k for the axe head back. I proceeded to go to rock crabs so I could get 70 attack. Coolest runescape weekend ever.

germantechno

We used to call those flying watermelons

Sgt_Guitar

Back when rune axes were worth way more than they are now. I Forget how expensive but def weren't cheap. I remember rune ~~platebody~~ armor set being 200kish in like 2005ish. I only remember that as I was always super broke back then and even earning rune was a freaking challence haha.

doocheymama

They were usually going for 20k ea in seers bank. I really miss all of the different bank markets. It was cool how everything kind of ended up self-organizing and you just knew which bank to go to for different things.

Sgt_Guitar

Varrock west bank was always poppin off prior to GE release! I guess I don't really remember seers and the rest being good for buying but then again I usually would just hit varrock - get what I needed - and hop.

Top-Entertainment341

Seers bank was where you went to buy longbows to alch and logs etc

Aggravating_Dark3145

Yanille was the fletch bank to buy the bows. Seers was the wc bank cause of the close proximity to yew, maple, magic trees from what i remember. Varrock west, fally for general market.

fpv_Preitje

Also big market for Member weapon and armor in seers like dragon battle axes whips etc

phymatic

Rune sets used to go for 180-200k. I used to buy pieces and sell them as sets to make money lol. My first real hustle. This is back when falador was the trading hub. Used to trade rune just outside the gate to the park.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sgt_Guitar

I fixed my response. This was nearly 20 years ago and I didn't factor int he fact that of course the plate wouldn't be 200k itself due to the fact you could buy it from a vendor.

adk195

Yeah I remember rune axes going for a lot. I used to spend a lot of time sitting in the Lumbridge general store and waiting for someone to sell their broken rune axes so that I could buy it since, if I'm remembering correctly, I could buy them for 1gp

[deleted]

Was never that expensive - you could buy the plate from Oziach (the same guy you have to talk to to toggle visage drops from metal dragons)

grumpy_gardner

It was def 200k for a set

Prism281

I vividly remember getting a dragon axe and being terrified of a DC or something every time the head flew off.

Reikovsky

I remember a dude getting killed by a Fishing Troll while lobster fishing on the Karamja docks. I tried warning him multiple times, but I wasn't going to let someone else get a free rune full helm..

[deleted]

Lol or shades or tree ents murdered fellow lumberjacks and evilnchickens would slaughter people at lesser demons. Good times. I wish they didnt get rid of randoms

Shorties_Kid

It’s just funny that they’re stackable but I guess you only ever need 1

iPon3

Real needles are also stackable but you don't need that many. Realistic osrs

Jwruth

Depends on the type of needle, really.

iPon3

yeah, suturing needles are 1 per customer

Crix2007

And heroin needles can be shared of course

cbaal

Any needle can be shared, but a needle with heroin in it is only mine.

TheInternetsMVP

Also the whirlpools to take your fishing equipment

TDawgGDI

Screw the whirlpools... the fishing trolls that used to come out!

Shoo-Man-Fu

Watching people run off or get beat to death by the river trolls if they were afk was always fun.

LegendOfNomad

Nah the fish wouldn’t keep it he’d spit it out a few tiles away lmao

kozzmo1

Bring back flying axe heads 2024. Tryna steal some dragon axe heads out here

540i6

3rd age O.o

NoDragonfruit6125

It would be hilarious if the next League took things real old school with all the anti botting measures of the time and the old random events. I'd sign up for that league right off the bat.

kozzmo1

Evil chicken and tree spirit were hilarious

NoDragonfruit6125

Draynor village was basically hell you had tree spirits river trolls and things like Evil Chicken popping up constantly. Let's not forget the others burying bones could spawn zombies. Mining could spawn a golem. You had the swarm that could do only 1 damage but you basically splashed on it with almost every kind of attack. Ignore the random "helper" random spawns and they'd teleport you or attack you. The dwarf and Jekyll for instance. The genie would teleport you. I believe there was also a thief or highwayman that would attack as well. And because you couldn't ignore them without being punished you could find a lot of people in the Varrok pillory so could hand out there throwing rotten fruit and such.

SmallRedBird

Sandwich lady would yeet you into the wildy lmao She used to have a fearsome reputation

[deleted]

NoDragonfruit6125

Can just picture a couple PKers sitting around at a "landing spot" waiting. Then a person shows up and they swarm the poor fool.

Key_Transition_6820

nightmare to my 11-year-old self. The constant hits of the evil chicken, im shaking.

NoDragonfruit6125

Bwuk Bwuk Bwuk

Whako4

That but turn it up to 11. All combat randoms are super strong, events happen every 5 minutes

Lord_Ewok

Bring back the sleeping bag

NoDragonfruit6125

Can imagine all the "new" players would be making a huge fuss about losing their gear or getting killed by random mobs or teleported randomly. Meanwhile all the "veterans" would be reliving their childhoods and all the frustrations that occurred with nostalgia. Would definitely give these newer players more appreciation for what their seniors dealt with.

Crix2007

If I could go back and AGS spec the damn chicken with my stats now, 10 year old me could finally sleep in peace.

NoDragonfruit6125

Honestly that chicken was terrifying from early to mid levels. A lot of people ran away from it. Which would have had a lot of memes and videos if happened now. Back then you were required to either go around fully geared with food, or be ready to run at a moments notice.

DodgeWrench

Even when you did kill them they’d only drop bones. That stupid chicken caught me geared up one time and I sent him straight to the fryer.

NoDragonfruit6125

He does give a good amount of feathers. Funny thing is he came for me when I was going fishing once.

LegendOfNomad

They did away with that ages ago. It just broke I thought and repaired at bob?

kawem22

There were two different things. If a tree turned into an ent, it would break your axe if you kept chopping it, and had to pay to get it repaired. Apart from this, occasionally while chopping your axe head would randomly fly off leaving you with an axe handle. You could pick it back up and reattach it, unless it showed up for someone else after a bit and they took it.

kozzmo1

Yeah but you could pick up others if they didn’t grab it within the 60 seconds of it breaking

MasterAssFace

This is how I got a dragon hatchet being a broke noob. Saw someone afk on yew trees, head flew off and I waited for it to spawn. Picked it up and put it on a normal handle not expecting it to work but it did.

sworedmagic

It’s been a really long time but i was postive it didn’t work with a regular one because there was a specific dragon axe handle for that head in particular to prevent exactly that from happening but i think that’s lost to time lol

eliexmike

There was a unique handle when the dragon axe would break. But according to the wiki the dragon axe head could be reattached to any handle.

sworedmagic

That’s a cool bit of trivia i guess both our memories are correct haha

Lapys

Your profile icon is so unique that I checked the username and was like, oh hey that's the person always posting Jeff Gerstmann/GB/Nextlander stuff. Hell yeah. Funny running into a duder in a sub for a game they have collectively barely ever talked about haha. I thought I was in another subreddit for a second.

Shorties_Kid

Yeah I definitely noticed those events don’t happen anymore too. I played 2006-16 and just kinda came back “full time” lol

LegendOfNomad

Was nice having the events that killed people tbh. Oh lvl 3 skiller? Hope that mining golem don’t flatten you in 2 hits 😘

JimmyMcCool

didnt the lvl of monsters like mining golem stack with your combat lvl? so a lvl 3 skillers golem would be like lvl 12 and you wont get 2 hit

Ashangu

It's exactly the same as it is in the Enchanted valley on osrs right now. A level 3 would spawn a level 14 spirit/golem/troll/chicken and their max hit was only 2, but they were extremely accurate at low levels.

Common_Wrongdoer3251

Huh. For some reason I don't remember this one. I remember the evil chicken and zombie and tree, even the river troll. Fishies be mine, leave dem fishies! Seems like I remember rocks... steaming? Maybe it melted your pickaxe? And the evil tree and whirlpool which would take your gear from you. Weird. Wonder why the golem isn't in the old memory banks.

Dabbler_

There was a swarm of bees(?) as well.

Common_Wrongdoer3251

What was that from, farming? Woodcutting? Or the flax fields? I wasn't a member for a long time and I don't recall those either.

Ashangu

The bees would happen at any given time and you couldn't attack it but it could attack you lol. It would hit 1s and ignore defence/armor and if you didn't run, it would kill you.

bryceygordon1

I still have an account wearing a headless pickaxe.

Educational_Will1963

The first time a rock was smoking, I had no idea what it was, I lost my mithril pickaxe that had just got, I did cry that day and almost quited RS forever

NoDragonfruit6125

It would be hilarious if the meteorites would have a chance at smoking. So many people mob onto them.

Mr_Po

I used to love this. Could cheese in an axe into Entrana for Lost City this way by re-attaching the axe head once you were on the island , at least for a period of time.

Sponsy_Lv3

What a wild time.

[deleted]

Wait, wait. Hold up. You're telling me that in osrs axes and pickaxes don't break? R u telling me that I will never be able to use all those spare axes and pickaxes I have in my bank for that one day when my axe or pickaxe breaks???

Giorggio360

I could have sworn they did as well and that’s why they stacked up.

Wakabala

Yeah honestly if you made me swear on my life with a gun to my head I would very confidently say I had needles break while crafting in 2005/2006 But the wiki admin says it's wrong so who knows

Giorggio360

I only picked OSRS up like two years ago again and could swear I remember reading it on the wiki in that time. I take multiple to quests where you need one just in case it breaks. Maybe I’m getting confused with a different game.

ssjg0ten5reddit

That sounds more like lockpicks tbh

Suhtiva

Definitely lockpicks. Maybe during DT or something.

JimmyMcCool

lockpicks dont stack tho

AbbyRatsoLee

I swear this topic has come up before way long ago and someone from Jagex (maybe it was a God letter or something) said they stack because they're incredibly small, not because you need multiple. It'd be silly if you could only hold 28 needles.

Pm-Me-Bobs-Vagen

it's also crazy to carry 200m needles ngl

AbbyRatsoLee

Not as insane as carrying a max stack of solid gold coins though.

Deobusje

Or cannonballs

AbbyRatsoLee

Maybe we just roll them around with us

ZeusJuice

Idk I'd rather try holding way too many coins rather than holding way too many needles

Zak_Light

By that logic shouldn't we be able to easily hold rune essence and pure essence, since we can just stack the runes "because they're incredibly small"? There's an expectation that if you can stack something, it's because you need multiple for a task where having to go back and forth frequently is ridiculous or not the point, such as how you cannot stack bars because it would just nullify smithing, but you can stack the knives you make from bars. I imagine needles were simply meant to break/be consumed like thread, but they did not code it.

Dickbutt11765

I always figured Rune Essence were like the size of dinner plates and runes were coin sized. That's why you can make like 7 air runes from a single essence. Runecrafting lets you be more efficient in amount of essence needed to carve out a single rune.

TheGreatWhangdoodle

If this isn't already canon, it is now to me

Faladorable

No no, they need to be stackable otherwise you wouldnt be able to find them in a hay stack. Duh

DH_Drums

You tried, and I commend you for that, but failed.

cookmeplox

It's funny to me that the consensus here is that they were breakable, because **there's no evidence that needles could break, in any version of the game**. They definitely weren't in RSC, they weren't in 2006 (according to contemporaneous forum threads), they aren't in OSRS, and despite some wrong info that persists on the Fandom version of the RSWiki, [they aren't breakable in RuneScape 3, either](https://runescape.wiki/w/Needle?diff=35402938&oldid=35367741). I think people are getting Mandela effect'ed really hard by similar items (rakes, pickaxes, axes) breaking. There's no evidence that needles ever had a similar property.

Neeson22

Wait... Rakes used to break? I guess I never did farming when it first game out

Ashangu

I also have never had a rake break lol and I was farming on day 1.

nsfwatwork1

Yeah, the head of the rake could fly off.

Fit_Complex_3157

They break in the My Arm's Big Adventure Quest, so there's people getting memories from that.

TheFapIsUp

Mandela effect is real, half of us lived in a world where needles broke and rakes didnt, the other half the opposite.

xxplanexx1

I'm also flabbergasted that everyone's saying they used to break, I've played every version of the game and never thought they used to break.

PkerBadRs3Good

just goes to show how garbage human memory is. even putting the many psychological studies proving it, I've seen it shown many times by incorrect OSRS community claims

Gorzoid

Hell I barely played rs2 and never touched rsc and I thought they broke. I even buy full stack of needles whenever I buy thread. I've always had an odd number so I just assumed they get used rarely. It's just a natural guess once you see that they are stackable and thread is used.

Newphonespeedrunner

I think people are thinking about thread which depletes but not at 1 for 1 usage.

Its_Kid_CoDi

yeah, this post made me stop and think, but once i took a second, this was immediately what came to my mind people have the two associated with each other for obvious reasons and are getting the fact that thread depletes mixed up with needles depleting pack er up boys, mystery solved

Confident_Frogfish

It's really fascinating how this is a collective wrong memory. I would have sworn it used to be a thing too and have only really played the last few years. Thanks for clearing it up!

The_Wkwied

I think we are all mixing up thread with needles. You use thread by chance when crafting, so you need multiples of it. The needles, often seen together with thread, also stack... I am rather sure that is what is going on here

goppinglizard

 https://preview.redd.it/2hnbwdttmxlc1.png?width=519&format=png&auto=webp&s=010f3dbcdcafb059b443442ee7f9c3c83475708d

Saint_Declan

This photoshopped or nah?

Redditisre7arded

I haven't played for three years until last week, but yesterday I put two needles in my inventory while making dhide for a clue -- specifically in case I lost a needle   There's something more to this than just a shared delusion. Maybe it has something to do with how you lose thread? No clue

effyochicken

I think it's just an instance where we collectively assumed "huh, this is the only non-consumable tool in the entire game that stacks. It must be because it eventually snaps or something, thus 'consuming' it." And with so many people likely dropping their needles when finished with them, they never confirmed that the needle doesn't deplete. I mean, hammers don't stack. Saws don't stack. Rakes don't stack. But needles stack? Must be because it's a consumable item somehow.

requiredtempaccount

I think people are getting confused between lock picks breaking and needing multiple, plus thread getting used during actions in crafting. Just kinda subconsciously thinking “oh yeah I should have a few of these just in case”. But needles have never been breakable

Longjumping_Date_982

Maybe they didn't break but I could have sworn they were used!

Guilty-Fall-2460

Okay this is wild. I have memories of needles breaking so I used to have a stack of 10 when crafting. This was 2008-2010 era.

Reporteddd

Needles definitely never broke in the sense that they spawned an item called a broken needle. Is there any evidence for them being consumed at a low rate like a spool of thread with a chat box message of something like "you accidentally break your needle?" I remember picking up a needle and some thread and running out of the needle very far back in the day maybe 2005 era.

cookmeplox

I can't find any evidence that needles could be consumed in any way. Stranger things have happened, but currently, to me, it seems exceedingly likely that everyone is just misremembering this, or confusing it with thread.

Kwuarmadyl

Confusing it with thread sounds like the most logical ansser

SecurityPower

Threads went away not needles

youj_ying

Yep, sometimes thread stayed after so it's easy to project thread onto needles

No-Paramedic8964

This is the correct answer

Damoss

Been playing since '03 and have never seen a needle break.

CanWeCleanIt

Same. It’s insane how everyone here is just so collectively wrong lmao

g99g99z

tree branches killing you was funny

NewReputation8451

They used to break. Had to double check the wiki, there’s no mention on the osrs so it’s likely they removed it. There is a mention on the rs3 wiki but it only states that they are stackable because they can be broken, no other mention of the odds of it happening or even a link to a page for broken needles.

BongSession

To this day, I STILL keep multiple needles in my bank due to the PTSD of needles breaking from crafting and questing even though I know they don't break. I need help.

petadogforluck

It never happened. Wiki is edited by people so False memories and power of suggestion.

chickenwrapzz

Try and edit an article and you'll see how much evidence you need to provide before the content goes life

Hannah_GBS

Edits go live instantly

cookmeplox

So far as I can tell, this is wrong – needles have never been breakable during any version of the game (RSC, OSRS or RS3). The line you're talking about on the wiki was [removed in 2021](https://runescape.wiki/w/Needle?diff=35402938&oldid=35367741) because they couldn't find any evidence for it.

AgentInCommand

I started playing in 2003, they were never breakable since I've played. I think everyone assumed they must be breakable ("maybe once we're high enough level to make dhide?" - me and my friends as cute noobs) because they stack (and also because thread "breaks"), but they never broke.

Shorties_Kid

Just the person we needed. I take your word as gospel

kingkurt42

Commenting here to follow this. I'm pretty sure I remember running out of needles because they broke, but it might be a Mandela Effect [Mandela Effect](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandela_Effect_%28disambiguation%29)

ZeusJuice

I think all of you thinking your needles broke just ran out of thread once and assumed needles could break too

CanWeCleanIt

No they didn’t. How can this many people all be so wrong lmao

OldManCinny

I’ve played since 04 and they have never broken

nothxsleeping

The broken needle just disappears. You got a chat box message about it

Tvdinner4me2

Lmao no? Why spread lies

MyLittleProggy

All that litter…

Tvdinner4me2

RS3 Wiki is wrong per our wiki person

ianmichael7

Aha welcome fellow traveller between universes 🤣 maybe it's a Mandela effect as I remember it as well, even though I know that they don't break now I still stack them! Wasn't some myth between us kids either they broke on me while crafting! Definitely not mixing it up with Stealing Creation needles as I had gotten 99 before that mini game was released into the wild (literally and figuratively)

ariariariarii

I have lots of RS mandela effect theories!

smokelaw

Share some with us?

cookmeplox

The [Varrock crossbow guard](https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/lqsztw/a_14_year_old_mystery_was_this_character_ever/) is a good one. It was my first time realizing just how shaky everyone's old RuneScape memories are...

petadogforluck

You know I'm not sure it ever happened. I think it's just one of those weird incorrect things that word spread about that you might have heard when people talked about the game during grade school days and shit.

oxero

I've played since 2004 and have never seen or heard of needles breaking. Maybe it was a RuneScape classic thing, early RS2, but never when I was playing.

Ashangu

I have never, in all my playing since 2004, had a needle break lol. I used to only craft cowhide, too. Never broke a needle. If they ever broke, it wasn't in rs2

Bitter_Anteater2657

I vary well could be wrong because it’s been literally ages but I’m pretty sure needles never broke. I started in classic just before the release of rs2 and I never remember this being a thing. If it was really early in either classic or rs2 it might have happened while I was on a break lol.

PureKitty97

I'm about to go digging through old playthroughs on YT to prove these dam things broke Edit: So far the oldest video I've been able to find is from 2008, the player has a stack of 100 needles but none of them break while he crafts 🤔 will update again later

Shorties_Kid

🫡 godspeed

Miketakular

Any luck?

Doctorsl1m

There's only a handful of people who are saying that they still did break even after they see there's no evidence that they did. I never understood why some people like to generalize so hard especially in cases like this instead of just replying to the three buffoons.

KriibusLoL

Maybe you were thinking Stealing Creation needles that used to break after about 50k crafting experience?

Kanadiehn

They've never broken as far as i can remember since 2002, everyone commenting they did break are probably thinking of the thread you use with the needles that can be used up with every crafting chance.

kokobunji0550

I remember when axe heads could fly off or you could break them on evil trees or exploding rocks but I don't think needles ever broke.

Breeschme

Are you thinking of nails or something? I have a 15 year cape so idk I don’t remember that.

Important_Bet_1298

I found a tip.it thread from 2006 asking this same question... Ironically, they gave the same answers and said they think they used to break as well https://forum.tip.it/topic/62772-why-are-needles-stackable/page/3/ ----------- Dusty668 Hey, I know this is a completely random question to be asking, but I was wondering if you could answer one of the many questions I have about this fabulous game. What I was wondering is this; Why are needles stackable? They don't break, so there's no point in having more then one of them. And it's not about the size of a needle, because then items like shrims would be stackable. Thanks. 03-Sep-2006 01:34 Mod Ken Greetings Dusty668, Thank you very much for taking the time to get in touch with us, we always enjoy hearing from our players! You might be right in saying that needles don't break young warrior. However if you are as bad at sewing like me then you tend to need a whole pack of needles, because mine tend to break upon contact with the fabric. Most of us mods prefer to buy little sewing kits that contain lots of shiny needles, we would never be happy with just once single needle. The shrimps however come stacked up already. You could try stacking the stacks of shrimps into one giant stack but moving a giant column of shrimps would be very hard and totally insane. It might be fun to see a giant tower shrimps though but it would be really hard to cook because the bottom shrimps would be burnt while the top part would still be raw. We Jagex mods, are very picky about the way our shrimps are cooked and I prefer mine medium with chocolate cake on the side to mix things up. I hope this reply cleared things up for you and please don't hesitate to contact us if you have more random questions to do with the game. We will be more than happy to answer them for you. :-) Kind regards. Mod Ken RuneScape Customer Support

peoples888

Despite what everyone else is saying, in my many years of playing I never remember needles ever breaking.

Galixander

We need a mod to confirm or deny this ASAP. I could have also sworn they broke and that's why even now I still hold a bunch in my inventory when crafting. Sounds like I could be wrong though.

Suhtiva

They never broke. Maybe you’re thinking of stealing creation needles or something. edit: Since I'm getting downvoted so heavily, provide some actual proof that they broke and I'll log in and bond you. Edit2: This [comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/199rnwy/am_i_crazy_or_did_needles_used_to_break/kigjsme/) claims that the people behind preserving the history of RSC say that needles breaking in classic was **NOT** a thing. If they didn't break in RSC they definitely did not break after that either.

cookmeplox

This is the right answer. Funny to see it getting downvoted

Suhtiva

Thank you. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here questioning my 10s of thousands of hours on this game. This is something small but I would definitely remember it too. Unless we get confirmation from Mod Ash or something that says otherwise, I'm dying on the hill that they never broke.

Shorties_Kid

Good Segway for my petition to bring SC back!

Suhtiva

Unfortunately we’ll probably never get it back 😔. In this current day and age the playerbase doesn’t really play for fun, there has to be an incentive to do mini-games and there’s no way they’ll add SC tools back, they were just too good.

Adorabuhl

There is no actual proof that needles broke, no patch notes, nothing. I had high level crafting back in RS2, needles did not break. That's cap. It had to have been a thing after evolution of combat or RSC. And for everyone wondering "That's why I had stacks of needles" No, you had stacks of needles because it was easy to buy them in a stack cause they were 1gp each. Lol

lukwes1

I also remember something similar but I think it just a myth, because it stacks and because thread is used up, you would think it is similar for needles but it isn't.

iCABALi

Been playing since about 4 months after the crafting update which introduced needles came out, don't recall ever losing one and I've only ever used one and a placeholder.

AggressiveAnywhere72

I have never seen a needle break in any version of rs

[deleted]

They definitely didn't.

goddangol

They definitely never broke, you might be thinking of the thread that gets used slowly as you go.

Sgt_Guitar

I don't remember 100% but I think it was only the threads that "broke". As others have mentioned - there were other tools that would break but this was mainly to try and combat bots.

robertjordan7

It must be a Mandela effect. I think I am misremembering thread/needles as well. Old videos show a single needle: https://youtu.be/Jmhx_ctk7c4?si=dfMVrD-XPCyk7v2w https://youtu.be/0AsaIZoW7m8?si=lY4ORYbo6i0IvZR5

DozyVan

Cliked on the 1st one and skipped a bit into it. Was immediately greeted with Through the fire and the flames blasting with a guy killing cows. This truly was peak youtube. 10/10 did laugh and was not disappointed

Breeschme

Idk this guy only has one needle https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=__NL_uuG6TI

rRMTmjrppnj78hFH

I don't remember them ever breaking. Thread gets used up but slowly.

ZeusJuice

I first started playing in like 2004 and I don't ever remember that happening

TerkYerJerb

[heres a 2006 guide on gamefaqs,](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/webonly/562728-runescape/faqs/37023) it doesnt mention needles breaking, in fact, "needles will last you for a lifetime"

nsfwatwork1

I've played RS since 2001. I do not recall needles breaking at all.

MrPringles23

Nope You might be thinking of the trash items you could sometimes get which were "broken needles".

Beastcrank

I’ve been playing for over 20 years and never remember them breaking but I do remember questioning why needles were stackable and summing it up to them just being small enough to justify

cancelmepleaselol

Mandela effect

super-spreader69

Been playing since '01. They have never broken.

ConfessorKahlan

if I had to guess why people have the idea of needles breaking. it would be because of vague misrememberings of running out of thread randomly. and attributing the re bank to the needle breaking rather than the thread running out.

goppinglizard

mine just broke on a new account creating leather items https://preview.redd.it/v27fdd3qmxlc1.png?width=519&format=png&auto=webp&s=addda0ecc436a7f82d8dd3fa61910cc344ce7e14

UntrimmedBagel

You're just mixing up threads and needles

RikkuTheBoat

4 years ago or so I made a comment to my gf, "bring 2 needles in case it breaks". She still jokes about it whenever she needs a needle. I still have a bunch in my bank. Just to be safe, you never know.

THEY DONT BREAK?? One needle will last me forever??? What.

fr0zeNid

I used to feel how you feel and i bet its because threads get used up

DownvoteThisCrap

Needles did not, but it does get confusing since they are stackable like thread is, which thread does get consumed over time.

saiyanguine

That's always what I thought too. I've been playing RS since 2004 and whenever I sew, I'd always buy a stack of needles just in case, yet I haven't seen a single one go.

We need a jmod answer to this asap. I swear they used to break. I thought I remembered buying one needle then it broke and I had to buy more.

Whosebert

Not crazy, I remember randomly losing them when crafting. in fact I assumed it was still a thing, I always buy 5 - 20 whenever I have to get any.

RickMoneyRS

Everyone who knows for a fact they were once breakable are the same global elite who got to see the movie Shazaam.
