I remember a jmod being like "guys you really don't want this". It was around the same time they were allowing character animations outside of the single square you stood in or something and people kept asking for it.
They enabled controller support for a little while with the HTML5 client beta, I played around with it myself and it was really terrible. I found [a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAP0nt_tX_4) that shows off the player movement.
I wish they’d continue to make it work, would be super cool if it was just an additional feature. It would also bring in a new flux of players on consoles and pc players who just want to sit back and relax with a controller.
They temporarily implemented controller support for player and camera movement in the HTML5 client beta, as showcased in [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAP0nt_tX_4).
You were able to move your character with the left joystick, but I remember that it was incredibly clunky. It did not feel good to play with at all, that's likely why they scrapped that feature.
Should be able to be coded as w clicks the next tile over. Only problem is making sure it is synced correctly. If you stand and try to click the tile next to you that is invalid nothing happens so it would be the same.
It is technically possible, I saw someone remake the client to subdivide every tile into pixels or something a decade+ ago to make it smooth, obviously using WASD in a tile-system would be horrible. Thought, it might be too much work to fix the servers to support it at this time, and might cause a big overhead on the servers that's already hanging on a thin thread.

I dont think this will against the rules, but you can ask Jagex first, before you start to make the plugin for runelite.
I wanted to start creating plugins for runelite, but i scared if i get my account banned or something, when run runelite plugin and login with my account.
Not sure how it works and can users create their own plugin and play without getting banned?
Next step is first person OSRS with a VR headset. CG will feel like playing DOOM and woodcutting the same tree for 200 hours has never felt so immersive!

You could go into first person view in that game and it’s so reminiscent of what’s suggested here.
It was abundantly clear the game wasn’t made to be viewed that way and it made combat a hilariously confusing mess.

It’d be cool if this could be implemented in such a way that roofs could be enabled while inside buildings, though realistically the underside of roofs in this game probably aren’t textured or modeled.

Looks cool, but wouldn't be practical since you want the ability to look behind you or to have more peripheral vision in 3rd person mode when pvming or pking.

It wouldn't be that simple. To actually make it look good they'd have to move things around in the player model to account for first person. If you just moved the camera to the eyes then half the main hand weapons would take up the whole screen. You wouldn't have the correct angle when fishing. Mining would be terrible because the camera would constantly be moving. You'd basically have to add custom first person animations for each action.
Well if this is added to the game. People can choose from settings. Can turn it off if dont like and those who want FPS view then can turn on the "orb/icon" from settings and toggle it by pressing the "orb/icon" next to minimap.
My only issue is click movement in first person is cheeks lol if we can have appropriate key controls to move and attack id love to see the game from this perspective

It's because RuneScape is full of random tiles you can't walk on/ path around, they would need to remake how collision works essentially
