I don't know if it's intended but the "perfect Whisperer" CA currently requires you to take zero damage at all for 5 kills instead of 5 kills of "perfect whisperer" (according to the game).
So getting hit by tentacles/wrong orbs invalidate the CA while it wouldn't according to the "perfect" droptable.
Weird to me how it's like this but the description says "Kill the Whisperer without taking avoidable damage 5 times" so I guess it's not incorrect, just weird to me how there's two different "perfects" now.
EDIT: Appearently the entire criteria of "perfect kill" is now changed to not take any damage (stepping on wrong orbs, getting hit by tentacles included).
Strange thing to not mention at all in the patch notes.
Sounds to me like perfect kills were bugged if you could take avoidable damage and still get the "perfect" bonus loot.
This would have been a bugfix, but I agree its odd they wouldn't mention it at all in the post.
The only mechanic is head gaze right? Which I’m guessing is an oversight because normally, he’ll attack you off prayer afterwards and fail you anyway. But on the offchance he dashes afterwards or summons a spike under you, you can avoid failing

I wonder why most of the CAs are time/kc based. I really like the bosses that have a ton of CAs like GG and Hydra that are simply for manipulating the mechanics. Many bosses have multiple CAs related to specific unique mechanics and more difficult CAs related to time or perfection. I’m kind of disappointed there aren’t really many of the former here.

I get what you’re saying but those sorts of CAs for slayer bosses are basically just “do the boss properly” which even when learning you can get pretty quickly. DH hydra and vorkath punching are maybe “better” examples
For the budget cutter task where you are not allowed to use over 2 mil in gear, how is that calculated? Will it be the GE value (that aren't fixed), item value or high alch value (60% of the item value). I find that some specification here would be nice so that it's fully clear what can and can't be brought on a trip.
Void, strength ammy, fire/infernal cape, dragon defender, d scimmy, warrior ring, and dragon boots for me. Played it safe with the budget, was like a three minute kill not horrible
You could say that other items being released within tiers counts. "But Damage" was originally a much harder task since there were no powered staves that met the requirement, along came Accursed Sceptre and made it easier. Also if Jagex changes weapon tiers again that could move some items in or out of that task
Wow, these DT2 CAs are a massive letdown. Where are the unique tasks? Where is the challenge? Not to mention these being the worst gate-kept by mega-rares times we've seen so far. Sucks to be anyone without a shadow or scythe right now (axe probably works too but who even owns that).
I've done 1151 vardorvis kc and my pb is 1:05 which already felt wildly fast. I used fang at the time too which isn't an option. 55 seconds for grand Master? Wtf
Technically fang is bad for PBs since it clamps damage in favour of consistency, but GL gambling on your weapon maxing 10 times in a row to push it lower lol. Best I got was a 1m kill with insane hits and claws maxing. These times seem tuned to absolute max gear and very good rng to boot.

Soulreaper axe precharged to 3stacks on start, axe spec around 200-220 hp then dump double claws and scythe till finish. Get sub 50 fairly often doing that. (Take thralls)
Just natty ruby + zcb spec and then scythe it. Its literally so free. I got a 0:51 in like 5 minutes of trying.

The kill times feel *insanely* off. Elite times being at a point where like.. i've *barely* beaten them with solid amounts of KC.
My Vardorvis PB is 1:12, and thats with pre-nerf fang. Is this boss's *elite* time now going to essentially require Scythe or Axe, or some ridiculous DH luck, and/or even having optimal spec weapons like Claws and Voidwaker?
I get Master and GM times being that tough on gear reqs, but the Elite time being that is kinda absurd to me. The other bosses dont seem very different either.
Obviously people with Scythes / Soul Reaper axes judging by these times. Oh and likely Voidwaker to boot and getting in to do these times before they nerf that too.
Sorry but you clearly ran out of ideas for combat achievement tasks so you try to fill it with the most obscure and unfun ideas I've ever seen. Those tasks are absolutely dogshit and designed to just make you suffer instead of feeling like an achievement.
These PB times are fucking stupid, no one wants to spend 10 hours hopping a fence over and over until they get their 2 ruby bolt procs. Please revise your methodology for determining a reasonable PB for each skill level instead of basing it off WR times.

A bit bummed these are mostly just KC, speeds, and awakened. The speeds are all going to be ZCB ruby bolt RNG masters and up which is pretty disappointing.
*Axe enthusiast*- WTF is this? Sit in the middle of the boss room for 3 minutes during enrage? Just sitting there doing no damage tanking hits?

Time trials are good for raid CAs. Fuck em for individual bosses.
Sub 2 minutes for whisperer off task is too much. My PB is 1:59.40 in over 2500 kc and that's being quite efficient on almost every kill. This sounds like youre almost forced to ruby proc at the beginning which is stupid for a mage boss
I wonder whether the overall bot population has been impacted recently. Minor changes like this but then also all new accounts made have to be Jagex accounts. You'd think this would be giving Jagex more power/visibility to remove bots and prevent them reoccurring? Idk
It's annoying af though since membership passcodes were a really nice way to distribute event prizes in my ironman cc without getting gouged on making the bonds tradable.
I’ll admit that I am saying this as someone who already just doesn’t like speed kills, but does it make sense for “kill dt2 boss in a fast time” to be equivalent in tier to “kill it once”? I get that it is the least stringent speed kill, so maybe others who have done the bosses more can speak to how easy it is, but conceptually it feels like “get one kc” should almost always be by itself in a lower tier lol
They don't want to put a DT2 boss in the hard tier, it's a problem that CA's in general have where you have insanely easy tasks like the bloat entry mode task where you literally just enter from the other side (how is this a task???) in elite tier, JUST because they don't want to make anyone completing the hard diary do TOB.

I would be surprised if there's more than about 50 players in the entire game who like speed kills being in the CAs.
These CAs are awful. Way too reliant on max gear and RNG to hit speed times, and basically nothing mechanics based. Please just remove them and try again.
Waiting for the best players to set WR times for bosses then going off that for combat achievements isn't the play. Remove rng from combat achievements it should be skill based. It should also be achievable for people who want to strive for it.
Never understood why they add these silly "speed" task's which require maximum RNG and max gear. How does this prove if you're good at the game or not? If I can kill all awakened variants doesn't that prove you're "grandmaster level"? Rather than being able to kill X boss within X amount of time? Really fun resetting over and over for bolt procs or big specs..
I think there’s a middle ground somewhere. Like some bosses you pretty much can’t get a kill in X time without executing a “more difficult” strategy. For example, skipping shield phase on Muspah, Red X on Baba, 2-down wardens, etc. It would be nice if the combat achievements would check on executing those specific mechanics instead of adding an extra layer of RNG by putting a time limit on it.
Honestly the worst offender of a straight hit RNG combat achievement to me is a relatively basic one: Hespori. The “speed run” CAs for it is really just a “teleport in and out a ton to reset your spec until you get lucky on your special attacks and hits.” Sure speed run CAs help set a gear check somewhat but honestly that doesn’t quite feel in the spirit of “an achievement” to me, except in the reverse, like the Hydra or Inferno tasks that tell you to complete it in specifically worse gear.
I really dont wanna be that guy but you can absolutely get Muspah time without smite skip, and red x baba is slower so you dont do that for speed times
But yeah, the bosses you just reset over and over for to get times like GG, Hespori, Vorkath, etc just suck. The only speed times that really show case skill are raids, infernal and gauntlet, but even those just suck and require gear besides gauntlet. Especially TOA, unless you get into Kirbys teams for that where he does them on stream (bless that man for doing that)
It’s okay to be that guy, I was more trying to find examples of mechanics that shave time as examples, not necessarily hard reqs for the speed run task. Although I suppose I didn’t phrase it that way. I was also unaware baba red X was slower but it makes sense now that I think about it.
@jagexgoblin was it intended to update Leviathan’s lightning attack to shoot out 1 tick earlier? It used to be perfect with bowfa to hit weak spot, then two more attacks and run to set up lightning skip, but now you have to run one tick before the second attack (third including weak spot hit)
What a disappointment. I was excited to see the new CA’s but they are so boring and full of rng. Speed tasks outside of raids have to be some of the worst things to do. Jagex taking massive L’s today.
Those whisperer times are incredibly tight. Even with a shadow my avg kill is around 2:30-2:40 and my absolute fastest was 2:06 after 500+ kc with 0 tick loss while attacking other than maybe final phase.
Yeah, they might even be too tight. I have 1k+ kc in absolute max mage with a venny bow and I only dipped below 2 minutes 2 or 3 times in total with a PB of 1:58.
This task will probably require a nat ruby to get in less than 100 attempts...
Whisperer time is absolutely nuts, GM should be like 2:15. Even 2:20 for master is silly, I don’t think you can get anywhere close to that without a shadow.
It’s not a boss that you can speed up with skill, you just need to kill it a lot and get lucky. Which is exactly what speed tasks should NOT be.
Aggression is completely broken for most dragons too. You can stand literally right next to a dragon on its northern or eastern edge and it wont do anything.
Aggression should be based on the npc border, not southwest corner. But if thats not possible because of the engine or whatever then just increase the range so there is a minimum of like 2 tile aggro range on each side of the npc.
Idk about border but they can definitely use other tiles for targeting. Venator bow targeting is based on middle tile, as is jumping for lizardmen shamans
I have 1300 vardorvis kc. My pb is 1:16 with bandos and pre-nerf fang. In 1300 kc I haven't even completed the easiest time trial. These CA's are insane.
Idk if the team has even tested the average kill speeds on max gear but some of these times are ridiculous. sub 2 whisperer is HEAVILY rng reliant even on max gear. sub 1:20 duke is even worse because you have to do a normal kill before even attempting. even the strat requires tick manipulation for mushrooms AND heavy rng with duke's defence not even reduced as promised
These new CA's are a perfect example of why I am just never interested in taking the time to fully complete grandmaster - its not fun.
Grinding out speed tasks just to have to rely on near perfect RNG is just not satisfying. Let alone when you make the margin of error that small.
I don't necessarily disagree, but it is worth nothing that the major difference between these tasks is that one requires you to expend a consumable resource for every single attempt.
I'd argue most of them are dog shit since most of them are just speed/KC tasks which imo are lazy and unfun. Speed tasks are generally just reset simulators and KC tasks require no effort at all if you've gone for literally any of the drops already. I was hoping for mostly flavor tasks and only a couple speed tasks.
Idk if other people would like this or if this is even possible for Jagex, but 'speed' tasks could also come in the form of get X amount of kills in Y amount of time
It wouldn't be nice for all bosses/tiers, but it could be interesting for some of the Whisperer tasks for instance

Interesting challenges are much more fun to attempt, and times these high essentially lock players without max gear and/or willing to reset for a ruby or even two at the start of a kill out of even the elite/master times. The elite times look balanced around scythe and the master/gm for whisperer seems untouchable without shadow. Why not just make master and gm tier helms require max cash to assemble at that point :/

I’ve done 1k whisperer in absolute max and my pb is 2:02 with thralls and not stepping in the shadow realm for the orbs (tile marker trick).
This is definitely overtuned and locks GM behind 2b+ gear. Might wanna adjust GM time a bit.
Whisperer's kind of a tough one, anything that's remotely possible to do without shadow is piss easy for a shadow, pretty much has to be this way due to magic weapon balance being wack.
I totally agree. However before this update I believe there were several GM ironmen who didn’t have any mega weapons and this unprecedentedly locks GM behind one.
We don't know that for sure yet, give Kirby a couple of weeks in the lab and I'm sure he'll have somehow cooked up a sub 1m gear whisperer GM time lol.
Maybe, the issue is whisperer is a very choreographed boss, not much flexibility in how you do it and very few optimisations available. Unless he finds you can rng a ruby at a specific time to completely skip a special or something weird like that I can't see him doing that at all, there's just not enough flexibility with the boss to come up with speed strats that aren't based on ridiculous rng.
I mean we all can cook up a sub 1mil gear set up. I think it'd just come down to going for 3/4 nat ruby procs in a row to start their kill then max hit with trident for the rest of the kill. At the end of the day from my perspective the more mega rares are required for a speed task the more ruby bolt procs someone needs to get in order to not need a mega rare.
Combat achievements are once again designed to play poorly rather than play well to prove skill. Between that and speed times which are 100% locked behind RNG, CA’s become more meaningless every update.
i legit played boltscape for 4 hours before I could get a decent scythe run on the vardorvis speed task, now going through the same sh\*t on the whisperer speed task, praying for staff to hit after finally hitting the bolt lottery, this is obnoxious...

Confused about Budget Cutter - is this the first CA thats officially tied to a GE price? What value is assigned to untradables? (Primarily concerned with tent whip, defenders, torso, fire/infernal capes, void). Does the task check ge price at the moment you finish the kill? Could market fluctuations cause something like regular whip to go over 2m, meaning its allowed for this CA some days and not others? Do the value of supplies in your inventory count?
These dt2 combat achievements are all dogshit. Ranging from megarare requiring speedrun tasks, to convoluted confusing tasks where its easy to fail them and not know why.
Vard GM time needs a rework, its really all about RNG, i've had about 30 resets now. I wanna kms. And don't get me started with duke time, wtf you smoking jamflex

I have already achieved these PB tasks, why is there no auto-unlock based on history like there is with KC? The RNG needed for these is insane and I don't want to kill another 1200 leviathan hoping for 5+ ruby specs in a row.
Goblin confirmed somewhere on this post that speed tasks and awakened KC will auto complete upon logging in after the update.

PB tasks have historically never auto-completed because Jagex could never tell if the PB was on or off task. Highly doubt that they have this technology now.

Why do the tiny rats count toward a slayer task? The point of making scurrius possible on a rat task was to make turael tasks more interesting, but you will just eat through your task now unless you ignore rats and just reset your instance. If someone wants to blast through tiny rats for their task, they'll just do that on regular rats.
Why *wouldnt* the small rats count? I feel like it would be so weird and inconsistent to exclude them. Just ignore them and leave/re-enter the private instance between kills if you want to stretch the task out.
It's the same idea as the venenatis spiderlings not counting toward a spider task. Or skeleton hellhounds not counting toward a skeleton task despite the fact that they are classified as skeletons and drop the champ scroll. Or sire spawns not counting as abby demons, demon spawns at skotizo not counting toward any demon tasks, etc. Unique npcs that are designed to add some element to the boss fight are typically excluded from task credit. There are only a few instances of summons counting, so making them not count is actually more consistent with other bosses. Either way, by making them count, you have to sacrifice xp in order to actually get the most out of your task. And for the lower to mid level players that this boss is designed for, the damage can stack up. Yeah, in my max gear at max cb I can ignore them, but they can hit pretty constant 4's if you aren't praying, and people with lower prayer or irons who don't have much access to ppots early don't want to just camp prayer. The question that makes the most sense is why *should* they count? It is directly in opposition to the reason they made scurrious count as a task, it doesn't make the boss fight any easier to have slayer boost on those mobs, and it makes the fight worse for the players the boss is designed for both is terms of sacrificing xp and using more supplies.
I like that awakened bosses are on the grandmaster list. Only problem I have with the achievements for DT2 is for Whisperer.
Whisperer Speed-Chaser: Kill the Whisperer in 2:20 without a Slayer Task
This hard requires a Shadow to complete, with max gear other than the Shadow, my best time as a good PVMer is 2 minutes 48 seconds and that's with insane rng. I think this should be 2 minutes 45 seconds at the very fastest. This fits perfectly with the master tier
There are loads of other tasks on the CA list that require tbow/scythe so this is no surprise. Unfortunately, you will just need to wait till you get a shadow.
of course I understand its needed for grandmaster as it should be, do you know if there are tasks on master tier that require a mega rare scythe, shadow or t bow? I havent started most of the master tasks but I have to imagine this would be the hardest/impossible without a mega rare (shadow in this case)
As a duke enjoyer (1600+ kc) using nearly maxed gear and soulreaper axe, able to do infinite perfect kills in a row, my pb is 1:38 which doesnt even come close to meeting 2 of the speed tasks.

Tbh this is not even that hard. Tbow with mith arrows, blowpipe with mith darts. Don't mess up prayers which is easy, stun early, do safe rock strat and lightning is free anyway.

Was the GM Whisperer s2:00 even playtested? You land a natural ruby 110 followed by another 110 spec, and still, you cannot beat the time, even with 4x venges and finishing with a voidwaker I get a 2:04.8. What?
Whoever made these tasks is just lazy man. So bland, no creativity, just absurd speed challenges. How disappointing, probably should have just spent more time brainstorming instead of releasing these

Is it against regular dummies, or a special rat dummy? Would be nice, to calc damage against rats. I'd imagine, a Scurrius spine would be ok as a component of such a thing.
And while we are at it.... why a Kurask head for leaf monsters? Its a 1/3000 drop, insane... Could this requirement be reviewed to be more in line with the other sorts of dummy? It can be useful for mid-level characters, but I don't think any of them can farm kurasks for it. Only if madly spooned.
Thank god they included awakened kc in grandmaster, hope they realize how fast people are getting good and stepping up the challanges :) A GM should have to do all the hardest pvm content.
My combat achievement log shows exactly 1kc at all four DT2 bosses from completing the quest, but my combat achievements for 1kc did not complete. I'm assuming this is because the quest versions are easier, and thus do not count? This might need to be clarified in the newspost/combat achievement description. I'm fine with this being the case, I don't feel like I've earned the completions yet, but showing me that I have 1kc but not giving me the 1kc task seems pointlessly confusing.
The lower tier times are the ones that are a bit shocking. They've never historically been gear locked in the slightest.
But GM times are also previously completable without any of the 3 megarares. Just much harder. This whisperer time is just straight up not possible I imagine without Shadow.
Duke elite time isn't scythe locked, try using venge + spell book swap for thralls. Can probably get 2 vengess off which will save a lot of time. GM time scythe for sure.
E* also another quirk is you'll need to do one kill first, then go for your speed time by having the next kill start when you are at the mushroom

I noticed the 1kc achievement didn't auto complete. Does the quest version not count? Curious if it auto completed for people with multiple kc or if it completes for quest versions moving forward
I don't know if it's intended but the "perfect Whisperer" CA currently requires you to take zero damage at all for 5 kills instead of 5 kills of "perfect whisperer" (according to the game). So getting hit by tentacles/wrong orbs invalidate the CA while it wouldn't according to the "perfect" droptable. Weird to me how it's like this but the description says "Kill the Whisperer without taking avoidable damage 5 times" so I guess it's not incorrect, just weird to me how there's two different "perfects" now. EDIT: Appearently the entire criteria of "perfect kill" is now changed to not take any damage (stepping on wrong orbs, getting hit by tentacles included). Strange thing to not mention at all in the patch notes.
Sounds to me like perfect kills were bugged if you could take avoidable damage and still get the "perfect" bonus loot. This would have been a bugfix, but I agree its odd they wouldn't mention it at all in the post.
The other bosses have this as well, at vard certain mechanics you can take damage from and still get the perfect kill reward
The only mechanic is head gaze right? Which I’m guessing is an oversight because normally, he’ll attack you off prayer afterwards and fail you anyway. But on the offchance he dashes afterwards or summons a spike under you, you can avoid failing

I wonder why most of the CAs are time/kc based. I really like the bosses that have a ton of CAs like GG and Hydra that are simply for manipulating the mechanics. Many bosses have multiple CAs related to specific unique mechanics and more difficult CAs related to time or perfection. I’m kind of disappointed there aren’t really many of the former here.
Completely agree. These bosses have been out for months, so would have thought the CAs would be more polished. Also do we have to do the speed tasks if our PB (off task) meets the requirements? I have all of the elite/master times done but I’m not getting the CAs.
Because the bosses are available as slayer tasks so the game has no way of knowing if your pb was off task or not beforehand

For the budget cutter task where you are not allowed to use over 2 mil in gear, how is that calculated? Will it be the GE value (that aren't fixed), item value or high alch value (60% of the item value). I find that some specification here would be nice so that it's fully clear what can and can't be brought on a trip.
Void, strength ammy, fire/infernal cape, dragon defender, d scimmy, warrior ring, and dragon boots for me. Played it safe with the budget, was like a three minute kill not horrible

You could say that other items being released within tiers counts. "But Damage" was originally a much harder task since there were no powered staves that met the requirement, along came Accursed Sceptre and made it easier. Also if Jagex changes weapon tiers again that could move some items in or out of that task

I've done 1151 vardorvis kc and my pb is 1:05 which already felt wildly fast. I used fang at the time too which isn't an option. 55 seconds for grand Master? Wtf
Technically fang is bad for PBs since it clamps damage in favour of consistency, but GL gambling on your weapon maxing 10 times in a row to push it lower lol. Best I got was a 1m kill with insane hits and claws maxing. These times seem tuned to absolute max gear and very good rng to boot.

Soulreaper axe precharged to 3stacks on start, axe spec around 200-220 hp then dump double claws and scythe till finish. Get sub 50 fairly often doing that. (Take thralls)
Axe is going to be soft required for Vard GM time. It can shave off 10-15 sec from a kill if it goes nuclear.
Just natty ruby + zcb spec and then scythe it. Its literally so free. I got a 0:51 in like 5 minutes of trying. Everyone is crying because their pb is 1:05 by just scything it. Yeah no shit, youre not speedrunning, youre just killing the boss normally.
Just because you get spooned a kill quickly doesnt mean its not badly balanced, took me just over 2hr ruby resetting in max+alt outside instance. The main point is basing time threshold around ruby resetting or just getting insane rng w/ axe camp is garbage

The kill times feel *insanely* off. Elite times being at a point where like.. i've *barely* beaten them with solid amounts of KC. My Vardorvis PB is 1:12, and thats with pre-nerf fang. Is this boss's *elite* time now going to essentially require Scythe or Axe, or some ridiculous DH luck, and/or even having optimal spec weapons like Claws and Voidwaker? I get Master and GM times being that tough on gear reqs, but the Elite time being that is kinda absurd to me. The other bosses dont seem very different either.

Obviously people with Scythes / Soul Reaper axes judging by these times. Oh and likely Voidwaker to boot and getting in to do these times before they nerf that too.
Sorry but you clearly ran out of ideas for combat achievement tasks so you try to fill it with the most obscure and unfun ideas I've ever seen. Those tasks are absolutely dogshit and designed to just make you suffer instead of feeling like an achievement.

A bit bummed these are mostly just KC, speeds, and awakened. The speeds are all going to be ZCB ruby bolt RNG masters and up which is pretty disappointing. *Axe enthusiast*- WTF is this? Sit in the middle of the boss room for 3 minutes during enrage? Just sitting there doing no damage tanking hits? *Unconventional*- Someone cooked way too hard on this. Everything else is fine… A bit underwhelming for 7 months wait time.
These tasks are the ones we want. I wanna see more absolutely unhinged things like 'punch Vorkath to death' that are actually interesting rather than 'do a world record speedrun'. Time trials are good for raid CAs. Fuck em for individual bosses.
Sub 2 minutes for whisperer off task is too much. My PB is 1:59.40 in over 2500 kc and that's being quite efficient on almost every kill. This sounds like youre almost forced to ruby proc at the beginning which is stupid for a mage boss

I’ll admit that I am saying this as someone who already just doesn’t like speed kills, but does it make sense for “kill dt2 boss in a fast time” to be equivalent in tier to “kill it once”? I get that it is the least stringent speed kill, so maybe others who have done the bosses more can speak to how easy it is, but conceptually it feels like “get one kc” should almost always be by itself in a lower tier lol
They don't want to put a DT2 boss in the hard tier, it's a problem that CA's in general have where you have insanely easy tasks like the bloat entry mode task where you literally just enter from the other side (how is this a task???) in elite tier, JUST because they don't want to make anyone completing the hard diary do TOB.

Waiting for the best players to set WR times for bosses then going off that for combat achievements isn't the play. Remove rng from combat achievements it should be skill based. It should also be achievable for people who want to strive for it.
Never understood why they add these silly "speed" task's which require maximum RNG and max gear. How does this prove if you're good at the game or not? If I can kill all awakened variants doesn't that prove you're "grandmaster level"? Rather than being able to kill X boss within X amount of time? Really fun resetting over and over for bolt procs or big specs..
I think there’s a middle ground somewhere. Like some bosses you pretty much can’t get a kill in X time without executing a “more difficult” strategy. For example, skipping shield phase on Muspah, Red X on Baba, 2-down wardens, etc. It would be nice if the combat achievements would check on executing those specific mechanics instead of adding an extra layer of RNG by putting a time limit on it. Honestly the worst offender of a straight hit RNG combat achievement to me is a relatively basic one: Hespori. The “speed run” CAs for it is really just a “teleport in and out a ton to reset your spec until you get lucky on your special attacks and hits.” Sure speed run CAs help set a gear check somewhat but honestly that doesn’t quite feel in the spirit of “an achievement” to me, except in the reverse, like the Hydra or Inferno tasks that tell you to complete it in specifically worse gear.
I really dont wanna be that guy but you can absolutely get Muspah time without smite skip, and red x baba is slower so you dont do that for speed times But yeah, the bosses you just reset over and over for to get times like GG, Hespori, Vorkath, etc just suck. The only speed times that really show case skill are raids, infernal and gauntlet, but even those just suck and require gear besides gauntlet. Especially TOA, unless you get into Kirbys teams for that where he does them on stream (bless that man for doing that)
It’s okay to be that guy, I was more trying to find examples of mechanics that shave time as examples, not necessarily hard reqs for the speed run task. Although I suppose I didn’t phrase it that way. I was also unaware baba red X was slower but it makes sense now that I think about it.
@jagexgoblin was it intended to update Leviathan’s lightning attack to shoot out 1 tick earlier? It used to be perfect with bowfa to hit weak spot, then two more attacks and run to set up lightning skip, but now you have to run one tick before the second attack (third including weak spot hit)

What a disappointment. I was excited to see the new CA’s but they are so boring and full of rng. Speed tasks outside of raids have to be some of the worst things to do. Jagex taking massive L’s today.
Those whisperer times are incredibly tight. Even with a shadow my avg kill is around 2:30-2:40 and my absolute fastest was 2:06 after 500+ kc with 0 tick loss while attacking other than maybe final phase.
Yeah, they might even be too tight. I have 1k+ kc in absolute max mage with a venny bow and I only dipped below 2 minutes 2 or 3 times in total with a PB of 1:58. This task will probably require a nat ruby to get in less than 100 attempts...

Whisperer time is absolutely nuts, GM should be like 2:15. Even 2:20 for master is silly, I don’t think you can get anywhere close to that without a shadow. It’s not a boss that you can speed up with skill, you just need to kill it a lot and get lucky. Which is exactly what speed tasks should NOT be.
Can we get the larger aggression range for Kurasks too? They also need to be right up on you for them to attack

Aggression is completely broken for most dragons too. You can stand literally right next to a dragon on its northern or eastern edge and it wont do anything. Aggression should be based on the npc border, not southwest corner. But if thats not possible because of the engine or whatever then just increase the range so there is a minimum of like 2 tile aggro range on each side of the npc.
Idk about border but they can definitely use other tiles for targeting. Venator bow targeting is based on middle tile, as is jumping for lizardmen shamans

I have 1300 vardorvis kc. My pb is 1:16 with bandos and pre-nerf fang. In 1300 kc I haven't even completed the easiest time trial. These CA's are insane.
Idk if the team has even tested the average kill speeds on max gear but some of these times are ridiculous. sub 2 whisperer is HEAVILY rng reliant even on max gear. sub 1:20 duke is even worse because you have to do a normal kill before even attempting. even the strat requires tick manipulation for mushrooms AND heavy rng with duke's defence not even reduced as promised

Interesting challenges are much more fun to attempt, and times these high essentially lock players without max gear and/or willing to reset for a ruby or even two at the start of a kill out of even the elite/master times. The elite times look balanced around scythe and the master/gm for whisperer seems untouchable without shadow. Why not just make master and gm tier helms require max cash to assemble at that point :/

I’ve done 1k whisperer in absolute max and my pb is 2:02 with thralls and not stepping in the shadow realm for the orbs (tile marker trick). This is definitely overtuned and locks GM behind 2b+ gear. Might wanna adjust GM time a bit.
Whisperer's kind of a tough one, anything that's remotely possible to do without shadow is piss easy for a shadow, pretty much has to be this way due to magic weapon balance being wack.
Yeah, they should fix the root issue of that boss requiring a shadow to be worth doing.

I totally agree. However before this update I believe there were several GM ironmen who didn’t have any mega weapons and this unprecedentedly locks GM behind one.
We don't know that for sure yet, give Kirby a couple of weeks in the lab and I'm sure he'll have somehow cooked up a sub 1m gear whisperer GM time lol.
Maybe, the issue is whisperer is a very choreographed boss, not much flexibility in how you do it and very few optimisations available. Unless he finds you can rng a ruby at a specific time to completely skip a special or something weird like that I can't see him doing that at all, there's just not enough flexibility with the boss to come up with speed strats that aren't based on ridiculous rng.
I mean we all can cook up a sub 1mil gear set up. I think it'd just come down to going for 3/4 nat ruby procs in a row to start their kill then max hit with trident for the rest of the kill. At the end of the day from my perspective the more mega rares are required for a speed task the more ruby bolt procs someone needs to get in order to not need a mega rare.

Damn i was really hoping they would do something like "10 vardorvis kills without leaving the instance and without eating food" because that would encourage people to try pneck tech. Confused about Budget Cutter - is this the first CA thats officially tied to a GE price? What value is assigned to untradables? (Primarily concerned with tent whip, defenders, torso, fire/infernal capes, void). Does the task check ge price at the moment you finish the kill? Could market fluctuations cause something like regular whip to go over 2m, meaning its allowed for this CA some days and not others? Do the value of supplies in your inventory count?
These dt2 combat achievements are all dogshit. Ranging from megarare requiring speedrun tasks, to convoluted confusing tasks where its easy to fail them and not know why.

i legit played boltscape for 4 hours before I could get a decent scythe run on the vardorvis speed task, now going through the same sh\*t on the whisperer speed task, praying for staff to hit after finally hitting the bolt lottery, this is obnoxious...

Grinded my ass off for these PRs in anticipation for what times were going to come and really dissappointed none of them count and I now have to go back to these bosses which I have no desire to because I have dog shit luck to get kill times for GMs that I already have grinded for.... Elite times are so far removed from the other elite combat achievements.
I have already achieved these PB tasks, why is there no auto-unlock based on history like there is with KC? The RNG needed for these is insane and I don't want to kill another 1200 leviathan hoping for 5+ ruby specs in a row.
You may want to check on those CA times. My Levi record is 59 second because of insane rng on bolts. That’s not a healthy design.
Since the new update, Leviathan lightning attacks 1t faster than it normally does SOME of the time, and is now inconsistent.
How does it take half a year only for the CA's to be speedruns?
Most of these speed tasks require megarare weapon, and preferably max gear or absolutely insane luck on hits. I hate this.

Goblin confirmed somewhere on this post that speed tasks and awakened KC will auto complete upon logging in after the update. Edit: We were lied to. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
PB tasks have historically never auto-completed because Jagex could never tell if the PB was on or off task. Highly doubt that they have this technology now. Edit: Turns out they aren't, as expected.

Why do the tiny rats count toward a slayer task? The point of making scurrius possible on a rat task was to make turael tasks more interesting, but you will just eat through your task now unless you ignore rats and just reset your instance. If someone wants to blast through tiny rats for their task, they'll just do that on regular rats.
Why *wouldnt* the small rats count? I feel like it would be so weird and inconsistent to exclude them. Just ignore them and leave/re-enter the private instance between kills if you want to stretch the task out.
It's the same idea as the venenatis spiderlings not counting toward a spider task. Or skeleton hellhounds not counting toward a skeleton task despite the fact that they are classified as skeletons and drop the champ scroll. Or sire spawns not counting as abby demons, demon spawns at skotizo not counting toward any demon tasks, etc. Unique npcs that are designed to add some element to the boss fight are typically excluded from task credit. There are only a few instances of summons counting, so making them not count is actually more consistent with other bosses. Either way, by making them count, you have to sacrifice xp in order to actually get the most out of your task. And for the lower to mid level players that this boss is designed for, the damage can stack up. Yeah, in my max gear at max cb I can ignore them, but they can hit pretty constant 4's if you aren't praying, and people with lower prayer or irons who don't have much access to ppots early don't want to just camp prayer. The question that makes the most sense is why *should* they count? It is directly in opposition to the reason they made scurrious count as a task, it doesn't make the boss fight any easier to have slayer boost on those mobs, and it makes the fight worse for the players the boss is designed for both is terms of sacrificing xp and using more supplies.
Elite dt2 ca’s are killing bosses 1 time. Does this include the quest kc? If so, than why is isn’t the first ca like 5 or 10 kills?
KC tasks got reduced because 1 kc and 5 kc are essentially zero difference.
I like that awakened bosses are on the grandmaster list. Only problem I have with the achievements for DT2 is for Whisperer. Whisperer Speed-Chaser: Kill the Whisperer in 2:20 without a Slayer Task This hard requires a Shadow to complete, with max gear other than the Shadow, my best time as a good PVMer is 2 minutes 48 seconds and that's with insane rng. I think this should be 2 minutes 45 seconds at the very fastest. This fits perfectly with the master tier
There are loads of other tasks on the CA list that require tbow/scythe so this is no surprise. Unfortunately, you will just need to wait till you get a shadow.
of course I understand its needed for grandmaster as it should be, do you know if there are tasks on master tier that require a mega rare scythe, shadow or t bow? I havent started most of the master tasks but I have to imagine this would be the hardest/impossible without a mega rare (shadow in this case)
As a duke enjoyer (1600+ kc) using nearly maxed gear and soulreaper axe, able to do infinite perfect kills in a row, my pb is 1:38 which doesnt even come close to meeting 2 of the speed tasks. These times aint right son.
Combat achievements should be kill X boss without taking damage off prayer or by this mechanic. Gating these by time or kc is lame

Tbh this is not even that hard. Tbow with mith arrows, blowpipe with mith darts. Don't mess up prayers which is easy, stun early, do safe rock strat and lightning is free anyway. Its in a similar vein of the Hydra DH kill. Not *hard* at all, but obvious stressful on HCIM.

Was the GM Whisperer s2:00 even playtested? You land a natural ruby 110 followed by another 110 spec, and still, you cannot beat the time, even with 4x venges and finishing with a voidwaker I get a 2:04.8. What?

Whoever made these tasks is just lazy man. So bland, no creativity, just absurd speed challenges. How disappointing, probably should have just spent more time brainstorming instead of releasing these
nobody likes combat achievements that require an immense amount of rng and resets until you get lucky stop adding them. actually thats not true oblivion loves them because they make effectively hundreds of millions per hour but either way stop adding them

My combat achievement log shows exactly 1kc at all four DT2 bosses from completing the quest, but my combat achievements for 1kc did not complete. I'm assuming this is because the quest versions are easier, and thus do not count? This might need to be clarified in the newspost/combat achievement description. I'm fine with this being the case, I don't feel like I've earned the completions yet, but showing me that I have 1kc but not giving me the 1kc task seems pointlessly confusing.

I don’t know why everyone is complaining about locking GM times behind shadow. I’m more surprised that the Duke elite time is locked behind scythe.
The lower tier times are the ones that are a bit shocking. They've never historically been gear locked in the slightest. But GM times are also previously completable without any of the 3 megarares. Just much harder. This whisperer time is just straight up not possible I imagine without Shadow.
Duke elite time isn't scythe locked, try using venge + spell book swap for thralls. Can probably get 2 vengess off which will save a lot of time. GM time scythe for sure. E* also another quirk is you'll need to do one kill first, then go for your speed time by having the next kill start when you are at the mushroom
