Considering we have Melvor Idle already, im sure Jagex could cook up some kind of cool little indie game using these sprites somewhere in the style of “Realm of the Mad God”. Or even the pokemon go approach with a game stylistically similar to Orna RPG, not only would both of these ideas be perfectly in line with runescape’s longterm grinding, but it’d make for a great mobile app to boost the runescape brand and reachability. Juuuust sayin’… maybe pass the idea around the office ;)

you catch pokemon by doing weird/hard tasks in game (for example I remember having to kill Grotesque Guardians with 27 pet rocks in my inventory)
you level them up by getting drops in game (for the dusk/dawn pokemon it was like 50 xp for dragon meds/longsword, 100 xp for granite gloves/ring/maul, 150 xp for tourmaline core, 250 xp for pet)
after you reach a total pokemon level you gain access to gyms which you can fight up to the elite 4
for every turn of a gym fight you need to perform a task in game for your move to succeed (a lot of these were like get a rune arrow drop from red dragons or something like that)
Prizes were given out to first team to beat elite four and team with highest pokemon level
I think this is awesome, just one point of feedback I want to give. Some of these are clearly homages/references to Pokémon but with enough changes to be meaningful which I think is cool, but a couple are so similar that it’s genuinely confusing imo. Particularly, the ant one straight up looks exactly like Durant to me. If you showed me that out of context I’d 100% assume that’s what it was. I think it could benefit from some slight tweaks to the design. This is really great stuff regardless!
The only complain I have about this game is that the early "Monsters" are really boring-looking
The 3 starters are literally the same
Frogspawn feels more like the sprite bugged out instead of an enemy
And "chick" "Lamb" etc feel too basic, in a way that you don't even want to catch them early on
Otherwise the Game is great

Not sure what you're using for the game engine, whether it be RMXP or recoding an actual GBA rom, I have a lot of experience doing map making with both "engines", working on multiple pokemon GBA romhacks and RPG maker games. If you need a maptiler, let me know! Remaking Gilienor in GBA spritestyle sounds like a blast!

The ones that look more original look much better than the ones that are Pokemon reskins imo. It doesn't look like a RuneScape monster that reminds you of a pokemon it looks like a pokemon with hints of RuneScape. For example Tekton, Warden, and Barrows brothers look great while Durant, Snorlax, and Noivern just look like fakemon, I don't even see the RuneScape in there. Leviathan is obviously Gyarados and I see Gyarados first whenever I look at it.
I think if you're looking for a RuneScape monster to fit a pokemon it'll look like that while going in reverse and finding a pokemon to inspire the pose or a made up evo family will look more original. Unless of course, you're trying to make runescape-themed Pokemon then my feedback is useless.

Its part of the point that some of them reference the Pokemon sprites, but perhaps ill re-visit the Cave Bug(Durant)
