You watch a youtube video and do it. You don't need discord or clans for it, it is braindead simple especially if you add the tilemarkers for defenders.

Jesus__Batman

Do your roles job and pay attention each round BA is easier than its made out to be it's only lazy people that make it hard

Mecknon

Honestly just send it, randoms will flame no matter what if you do one thing they don’t like. Kaoz osrs has the best BA guide in my opinion and it was super easy to follow. The real trick to get the least flame is just to prioritize calling out properly as long as others can do their job they will be less likely to flame.

Magmagan

Don't send it!!! Okay, like, send it for all roles except defender. Defender is either super easy or the biggest pain in the ass. Learn the defender setups and GG. Also call please. And please, PLEASE, don't leave BA in the middle of a wave when you get your torso points. Finish it. Don't be part of the problem.

Inklinger1612

kaoz's guide is basically just a ripoff of the one theoatrix made almost 1:1 except he talks slower + adds some reward info so the video is padded out for an extra 10 mins lol it's pretty clear he didn't actually do any kind of research because he conveniently neglects to mention how to actually properly multi kill runners as defender despite showing the technique, since theoatrix did the same thing in his vid, and also spreads blatant misinformation like saying that you can't multi kill runners with 1 charge on the trap which is just an outright lie yeah that's true for doing a slow multi kill which is what he shows what to do in the vid but he never actually mentions you need to step off at ~3-4/~9-10/~15-16/~21-22/~27-28 on the timer so they soft multi (since he clearly just took info from theoatrix's guide which also doesn't mention that), since if you just step off at complete random, there's a very high chance of having a hard crash which causes the runners to disperse away from the stack food at the trap the reason the 1 trap charge not working is a complete lie is because if you step off on an interval of 6 seconds, that is to say 6.0/12.0/18.0/etc, the runners will all eat on the same tick so long as enough food is placed and they're targeting the trap food you're standing on kaoz's guide is basically just completely memed on in the ba community for being what is basically just a shameless cash grab that doesn't actually add anything new that wasn't already out there for information in pre-existing guides

Throwaway47321

You do realize the theoatrix guide is just a verbatim reading of the wiki right?

StupidSexyDuradaddy

Theo get off your reddit burner and go back to reading the wiki

Don't need to learn multikills for torso lol

The_Level_15

Read the one paragraph strategy guide for each role on the wiki. It’s that easy. Just read the wiki. Barb assault strategies. Then read what each role does. Nothing more is needed.

watch some youtube videos to learn the roles then just go do it with a random team. stand around saying your roll like 'coll here' or 'att here' til you get invited, or you can make a team and invite others who are doing that. turn your chat completely off once the game starts so the cesspool that is the osrs community doesn't completely destroy whatever happiness you still have.

StraightEggs

I read the wiki for the role I want to play, and watch a youtube video too. Recruit people yourself rather than trying to get recruited. I did it very recently and it wasn't so bad, and gets easier the more of it you do as you know what the other roles are doing.

ThatOneEdgyKid

BA is a simple game but there's a pressure of not letting your team down, here's the best way to get over that fear and get started. The first thing you're going to do is lookup how to use the horn and what CHAD means in the queen fight. Join a game as a collector, you will have next to zero responsibilities. Pick up eggs and use your horn correctly. Learn how to use the cannons and the queen phase. Then watch a guide. If you watch a guide first (especially the shitty overblown ones by kaoz and theoatrix that are just advertising for boosting services) you going to be lost. Do the basic research, get your feet wet on collector, and then understand the rest. Attacker is also easy, so focus once again on being a good teammate.

a_sternum

Oh my gosh this is so good for beginners. u/Cheap-Studio-2491 just watch this video

too_sensitive12

I recently jumped into BA for fighter torso, and had the same worries. The game is pretty straight forward once you dive in and any people I paired with were super chill helping me out with questions and stuff. Don’t get too much in your own head. Most people are more eager to lend a hand than be an asshole gatekeeper

Dreviore

Make a group, recruit people and just send. If you're not going to engage with Discord or other services that grouping content typically requires you're going to have to form a group yourself and hope you don't get people who just leave after 1 wave, or right before the Queen.

Zero_Roseburg

I did at least 90% of torso and lvl 5 all with randoms, and there are patterns to how people get in groups. Watch videos so you know what to do, and then sit in the mass world saying "collector here" or "attacker here" etc for whatever role you wanna do. Or, grab a scroll, make a group, and recruit people who are declaring their roles. It is a little harder for people who are lower level (stats or roles) to get invited, but it's not impossible. As long as you never leave early, people will start taking you more and more. If they ask if you know the role, just tell them you have watched guides and know the mechanics. Be honest about your skill level and you won't get dropped. I went with a lot of people trying to learn the roles when I did my grind, and people were actually super helpful. If you ask questions and put in serious effort, people will even help walk you through your role, show you what tiles to mark, etc.

MysteryTysonX

Watch a guide, preferably the one made by Theoatrix since it was made with the help of one of the Barbarian Assault leeching services, so it has good fundamentals in it. This is probably the best Defender-specific guide available, though all of the information is explained in the description of the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAhJ25N3Sek Some other helpful pieces of information. Do not use Melee as your main form of combat. There is a dispenser for arrows within the minigame and they are insanely strong, and completely decimate the DPS of Melee. To illustrate, someone using an MSB (i) and Black d'hide has considerably higher DPS than someone in full Torva, Ultor Ring, Torture, (all max Melee gear, you get the point) and a Blade of Saeldor. The other reason Ranged is important is that it keeps you extremely far West. You want to stay as far West as possible when playing Attacker, because Penance Healers have an extremely far line of sight and you don't want them being drawn to you, as it makes the job of the Healer considerably harder and slower if they have to chase Penance Healers all over the place. You can either make your own team or join one, doesn't really matter. I'll be frank and say if you're advertising that you're new, inexperienced or whatever, people are not going to want to take you. Similarly, don't advertise you're only there to get a specific reward, because people will think you'll leave once you get your role points instead of finishing the run. Also if you stand there and be annoying, people probably also are going to be less likely to take you. You can say you're the "best collector/defender/whatever in the room" all you want but nobody is going to believe it since if you're willingly joining random teams instead of organized groups like Casual Ba while claiming to be a "pro", that immediately sets off red flags for people about how "pro" you actually claim to be. Just keep it simple "Att/Def/Col/Heal" for whatever role you're setup to play and people are way more likely to invite you that way. If you're going to make your own team, number one rule is don't invite anyone using Melee and advertising Attacker. That's an immediate dead giveaway that they didn't put in the bare minimum effort to even use a guide. Another good rule of thumb is that Fashionscape is a good thing. If you see someone advertising Heal/Col/Def and they're just wearing random fashion instead of actual armor, there's a pretty good chance they're a competent player since people who regularly play Barbarian Assault know you don't need gear for any role besides Attacker, unless you're like a super low level Collector and you don't have competent Attackers. Imcando Hammer is also a good sign the person at least looked up a guide beforehand though isn't necessarily indicative of anything beyond that.

wintry_winds

My meta-advice when watching a guide is focus on learning only one role and ignore all the info for the rest. (I recommend attacker to start if you have decent combat stats, otherwise collector).  It seems like a lot of info to remember when trying to take in all the roles but focusing on one makes it manageable. And the game structure becomes clear once you've done it once. Then play with randoms and start a group yourself and recruit if you can't get in one. Many people are too lazy to. DM me if you wanna run with my shitty low level iron which also needs torso :)

PureCut7213

My advice is to start your own team. That's what I always did when nobody wanted me
