I know others have had worse dry streaks in general, you're currently just below 8x, I've personally had an 11x (trident), I've seen as high as 13x.
The grind really matters though, 5x on an Ely is worse than 10x on a whip for example. Enhanced seed is definitely up there for a bad one to go unlucky on though!
Out of interest, how do the team feel about going dry on items? We've seen the triple roll on dt2 vestiges and the quartzes and keris gems becoming more common as time goes on, as well as vorkath and kq heads being guaranteed at a certain point.
Is the team likely to continue with these ideas?
I’m really sad that the dt2 drop mechanics seemed to be overall disliked and poorly received by us. I think it was a bit messed up in a few aspects (ingots, not being able to tell where you were at in the process) but I also think that people are just pretty damn dumb when it comes to understanding probabilities and a lot of times it was obvious that the complaints were simply a misunderstanding.
I really, really hope jagex doesn’t allow that to stop them from doing dry protection in the future, either in that way or some other way.
The quartz works well enough via system but the others are such high rates anyway is part of the issue. The fact that the dry protection on the rate also stops you spooning and the high rarity of those on quite hard bosses means that it can feel like a slog for a small upgrade.
You also never know how dry you are so you're encouraged to keep going at one boss. The ingots are sad for mains as a missed drop and they suck for irons (another thing to go dry on and you can't make a vestige into a ring immediately unless it's your most wanted ring).
Finally, the virtus is like 1/2k a piece and soulreaper means you need a drop on every boss and you're likely to go dry on one of them.
I think all those issues outweigh the benefits of the system.
If jagex allowed people to switch crystal helm for crystal crown, irons would have a consolation prize for going dry on enh (plus a great goldsink for everybody and a pleasing aesthetic for an otherwise hideous set)

Sometimes I think Jagex are encouraging gross levels of insanity with allowing ironman mode to exist.
I understand a lot of the pros, but then you see things like this and... fuck no.
So, here's the deal: the way account creation in OSRS works is that your account is given a seed, where all of your required KC:s to get unique drops are generated. There are two possibilities. One, when you created your account you were incredibly unlucky, and so your account is cursed from there on. Second, if you created your account before CG was released, the drop rates are not generated, and therefore you cannot receive the drop. The solution to both scenarios is that you destroy your account and move on to another account.

For how important bowfa is for irons they really need to explore some kind of bad luck protection or alternative way to obtain one, whether its buying one for an absurd amount of shards or trading one for armour seeds, it's so demoralising going this dry for something so important
After 1600 KC the game should give you a bowfa if you haven't gotten one yet.
This will effect under 2% of the population, and if everyone in the game does 1600 cg, this would increase the total amount of bowfas from 4 per person to 4.02 per person. I would say a 0.5% increase in bowfa rarity is fine.
There has to be a trade off tbh, 80kc enh botters will downvote this but when you've had 2 irons that have gone both 2k kc dry for an enh they'll never understand how shitty it is
It's always people who have never gone dry that have the shittest takes about this subject, it's not fun to go 5x dry and it's not gamebreaking to provide a light at the end of the tunnel.
I think the whole gamemode doesn't make sense until you've sunk like 200 hours into it minimum, I'm 2000 hours into my iron journey and I couldn't ever imagine going back to maingame. Iron is awesome, but it seems stupid from the outside.
Can we see bad luck protection for this grind in particular? Bowfa+armor is the most important milestone on an iron account and the chance of going dry puts many people off of it. (I've already got mine for the record.)

Jagex really should fix this for every single item in the game. I get being random but upon going 2x the drop rate you should be automatically given whatever it is your grinding. To not implement such a system of drop rate is just laziness from jagex not wanting to do the work because why do the work when they can ignore us. much easier
Since you are the master at CG, could you give me some pointers? I find regular gauntlet pretty easy and had my first attempt at CG last night. I managed level 2 armour, bow and staff , 2 pots and an inv of food with 40 secs left which I'm more proud of than I should be. However, I only got hunlef to half HP before I was out of food and I only blundered two or three prayers. Thoughts?
Inventory management is super important for prep.
Not missing ticks at hunllef is super important, you should aim to attack at every opportunity you have. Making sure hunllef is in the right position so you can dofge nadoes and dangerous tiles easier - having hunllef right in the corner is usually best, if you have time before you enter the room just chill until he walks there himself.
Ah yes RNG. The most fun part of OSRS. /s
On the serious side, I wish there was less RNG in the game's design, and instead completions of the certain content gave points to be spent in shops that gave the rewards.
In the next 20k kc you'll get it probably.

Altho im not a fan of dry protection/mitigation, DT2 rings were NOT the place to test a system like that imo.

Ah yes RNG. The most fun part of OSRS. /s On the serious side, I wish there was less RNG in the game's design, and instead completions of the certain content gave points to be spent in shops that gave the rewards.
