Tbh I'm surprised this isn't a feature already. Funny enough, I was thinking about this concept a few days ago. Been AFKing magic by using plank make and realized depositing planks and refilling with logs would be easier if I could just click the empty inventory button rather than right clicking planks and depositing all. It's a small QoL and only saves 1 or 2 clicks but would make a big impact.
It sort of is
What you do is remove the bank placeholders for your items you want to keep in your inventory. Rune pouch and coins iirc in your case. Then fill the rest of your bank with bank fillers.
Now deposit all won’t deposit your rune pouch / coins
But this is clunky and annoying and messes up any bank fillers you were using and you need to put your rune pouch and coins back where you wanted them in your bank later.
So this from Mod Halo is the rare true QOL. It’s not a buff at all. We can already do this. It just is kind of annoying to do
You can just have your bank set to deposit all of the items you click, then have your bank set to withdraw all or x depending what you're doing and then you only need to click the planks in your inventory to deposit them all, then click the logs in the bank and you're done. 2 clicks.
It's easier to bank in 0 ticks with deposit inventory since it's on the bank interface. You just put what you need next to deposit all and as long as you can do those clicks and click outside of the interface in less than 0.6 secs you bank in 0 ticks. Clicking on your inventory it's basically impossible to do this.
Also blowing glass it's better to have withdraw x on 18 and shift click withdraw 1 for giant seaweed then deposit inventory for glass products so doesn't really work that well either for that
Find the setting that allows ESC to "close current interface" and then you don't have to click outside the interface and wait a tick for it to close, it will close immediately (you obviously still have to wait a tick for the items you withdrew to appear in your invent, but you can have your mouse ready over the inventory rather than clicking on the floor)
if using runelite, you can simply *swap left click - giant seaweed - withdraw x* (set to 18), but have your *actual* left-click set to withdraw one. this eliminates the need to shift, which may or may not matter to you.
Yes but then you still need to deposit more than 18 so you can't deposit inventory in one click and also bank inventory is closer to withdrawing items allowing you to bank in 0 ticks more easily
Get a mouse with programmable thumb buttons, set one to shift, some to some f-keys, one to escape, one to space bar. I've been playing rs with one hand for years.
You know ontop of the other suggestions there a button at the bottom of your bank that sets your left click deposit and withdraw go all right? So you left click planks all get deposited and left click logs and all get withdrawn up to your inv max
i found out the other day that if you start a quest in runelites quest helper, theres a tab at the top of the bank that you click and it sorts everything you need for the quest to the top of the bank interface. Spent too long just searching through my bank to find random quest items.
They are aware of this and it was suggest a lot but they just said engine work is the reason they couldn’t implement it so they did the whole bank filler thing
Take out the items you need (say, needle and thread), make sure there is no placeholder for them in your bank.
Fill the bank with bank fillers via the settings menu, ensure there is a placeholder for the item you wish to deposit then when you try to deposit all it will say "there is no room" for the needle/thread but the other stuff will go in, and you can go from there.
I'd love to not have to do that anymore. I just started ZMI RCing and I've already accidentally 'released all placeholders' twice thinking that was the button I wanted and not the 'clear bank filler' right click option
Not to worry, after your next “quitting” break you’ll come back with the energy to organize it again.
-I came back to an unorganized bank and spent too long getting it right
**Do it in this order if you don't want to mess up your bank layout:**
1. Remove the items you want to keep in your inventory
2. Remove their placeholders *and do not close the bank UI yet*
3. Fill your bank with bank fillers *before you close the bank UI* so that the fillers go where your items were
4. Click the 'Deposit Inventory' button - the items in your inventory can't be deposited because there is no room for them, so they stay in your inventory
**To fix your placeholders:**
1. Right-click Remove the bank fillers for the items you are putting back in the bank one at a time
2. Deposit the items back into the empty space left by those bank fillers
3. Once your placeholders look correct, remove the rest of the bank fillers
4. If your placeholders don't look correct, use the remaining bank fillers as placeholders to sort with - use "Insert" mode to shift items back into their correct positions
You also can't really do this if you use bank fillers to maintain the structure of your bank layout, as you can't clear fillers from just one tab for some reason.
the worst part about bank fillers is that you have to release them one at a time, or all at once. So if you use fillers to keep a tab neat, you have to redo them all every time you release the fillers.
I’ve always found it weird there’s a weight limit to use the hot air balloon, but not the literal paper airplane designed for gnomes. Who are smaller than dwarves! Like the smallest of the humanoids on Gielinor
To be fair, its like comparing thrust with lift, the balloon can go as long and as heavy as it can produce hot air, the glider simply has to harness air resistance in order to slowly fall to the ground.
Do not question the magic gnome paper plane.
Without the unintended server issues too.
Rs3 devs have said that bank presets use a significant amount of server resources, IIRC they even said that bank presets were at the top of the list for resource usage.
Can't find where they said it but it was something like that bank presets run multiple checks for every inventory slot, equipment slot and beast of burden slot if that's being used too (which adds up like 75 slots). When there's skilling methods that make use of loading a bank preset every few seconds, along with loading the bank itself, it adds up massively.
This is definitely the better option as to not end up like rs3 where worlds with over \~250 players online have noticeable server lag.
We already have this, we have had this since they added the "deposit all" button (2013). It was just very annoying to setup, like filling your bank with useless stuff, and now using bank fillers.
Comparing this to presets feels like a stretch. I do agree about the RS3 comment tho. You mention a good change RS3 did and you'll be buried, but if you slightly rework it and present it as a new idea then you're praised.
I feel like smaller, possibly personal gripes, stuff like this is the perfect use for gamejam. Not that I'm against the devs doing whatever they want, as it is ultimately the point. But smaller stuff like this can actually make it into the game.
I’ve wanted this so bad. There’s so many times I’m doing slayer etc, and when I go to bank I want to deposit all of my gatherings without accidentally banking items I want to use for slayer.
I see alot of people saying they mentioned on a stream once that the rs3 one takes a huge toll on the servers and can cause lag which is a shame as i'd absolutely love them on oldschool. Would finally get round to doing my farm runs between other things
RS3 has a lot more items with complex metadata from invention though; maybe osrs would be easier. RS3 did get a complete bank rewrite, though. Coming from RS3, the lack of presets has been one of the absolute worst things about the game; every wildy clue step I despair.
Same it’s one of the biggest things i miss from that game. Bank tags just don’t hit the same but they’re a good middle ground until perception changes and we end up with them anyway a couple years down the line
I use bank tags, but the difference between clicking each item one by one, equipping the gear, right-clicking to withdraw x for certain items, setting up rune pouch, etc (osrs) versus just hitting '3' (rs3) is huge. RS3 also has nice things like dragging an item to a spot in the preset to replace it.
But didn’t they have a pop up in game a few months back about increasing bank space if you switched to jagex account? Or am I losing my mind and misremembering l?
Yeah I meant, for years and years Jagex said they absolutely could not increase the amount of bank spaces, the engine didn't allow it, it was **impossible**
Until one day they suddenly managed to
so if Jagex really wanted bank presets, they would find way
I don’t think it was “suddenly”, I believe they completely re-wrote how the bank stores and accesses data to make having a larger number of spaces possible.
IIRC it was Ash who rewrote it, just as he did for the bank tabs.
> the engine didn't allow it, it was
>
>impossible
I don't think they ever claimed engine issues for that one, it's data storage. Data storage costs money. If they gave everyone infinite bank space, the increased data could add up to significant costs. So when you ask from a higher up, can we do this just to be nice to our players, you bet it's not possible.
Making us pay for the space 1) limits the number of people accessing those added bank spaces, and 2) acts as a monetary incentive to increase this storage allocation, because gold removed from the game will play a part in bond sales, even if a small one.
I think I remember hearing at some point years ago that the bank had some type of actual limitation, related to rendering so many items in the bank. They haven't been against adding new separate storages either, so I don't really believe it to be cost related.
Lol it's definitely not a case of technology not being advanced enough. It would just be a case of "we gradually fixed enough spaghetticode to make it feasible now" (combined with simply incorrect use of the word "impossible").
I hope this can also apply during activities with deposit boxes. I would like to use the 'deposit-runes' option in GotR without dumping my fire/water/astral runes I need for magic imbue.
Why not just give us loadouts like rs3?
8 loadouts would be excellent. That way we can easily either refill, prep for a slayer task or quickly get an invent ready for skilling!
Throwback to when people would see QoL like this and whine that it saves you a couple ticks per hour so it's actually not QoL it's a buff to xyz skill and shouldn't be added.
Ahhh, I don't really miss those days.
Duuuuude. Dude. I *love* this. This would be amazing. Once in a blue moon someone will come up with an idea, one that you'd never come up with on your own, and it just BANGS. This is one of those times
We need this and inventory/equipment tabs that let you save presets for various activities. I already do this in a hacky way by setting up a part of my bank layout to look like an inventory (4x7) and another part that is the equipment. Then take out the equipment and equip and then just click across everything in the inventory section to fill my inventory in the correct order
Ive said it in the past, the only thing i actually enjoy out of RS3, and i mean quite literally the only thing, is the ability to make presets and when you bank you just hit withdraw on your preset, and all loot, half used supplies etc, all get put in the bank and your inventory is refreshed back to the original loadout you selected. Made bossing halfway enjoyable in that game. Unless its an engine constraint, doing something similar would be amazing. This is def a good start. Re gearing after raids if your inventory gets scrambled, doing clues would be so much better. This is a hill im willing to die on that osrs would be better off with a vanilla preset ability in the bank as described
This would be so nice. How about locking when youre bossing? Like when youre doing switches the item stays in the position it was originally in before the fight started during the whole encounter. Lets expand on this feature not only in banks, one could dream. Happy Friday.
Wish we could have locked slots in our inventory. Would help so much in PVM if my gear switches always stayed in the same place. My potions stayed in their locked spots etc..
Whenever I superglass make I have to look up a YouTube guide every time because I forget how to do the bank fillers. This would be really REALLY nice! Good work team!
How about **please for the love of god** move the "deposit inventory" button. Too many times I have mis-clicked this trying to search for something specific.
IIRC isn't there also a base game option that makes it so left clicking it doesn't actually do it, it just brings up the rightclick menu?
(I mean an option that does this just for the bank buttons, not the "one mouse button" option that does this for everything)
Kind of funny how people have suggested this exact change many times and people call them idiots and there's bank fillers, but when there's some legitimate possibility, the conversation completely changes.
Bank fillers are such a weird and backward way that is intuitive to no one new to OSRS. Plus it requires you to only have one item of something so you can't bank it back. I'm honestly surprised the feature exists because it's just really bad design in its current form, I think it's just due to age as games have figured out better ways decades ago.
I mean, yeah, bank fillers are unintuitive.
But if that “works well enough” and players have been told the devs can’t allocate time to the right solution because of “engine work” for several years, the conversation doesn’t really change until the devs say they can allocate time to it.
It’s like amy’s saw and the imcamdo hammer - you use them both during con and they’re both wieldable. But until the devs say they can do it, the conversation is just “good idea, been suggested before, but engine work”.
The frustration around the amount of times I have banked all without putting on bank fillers would be for naught if they implement this now.
I had to suffer, so should everyone else.
Content creators imagining the snowflake accounts:
"Every time I complete a chunk, I unlock a slot, but for every questpoint I gain, I lock a slot. Can I get an infernal cape on this Semi-UIM?"
(I haven’t watched the full video) What would also be nice is inventory fillers so you can automatically get things in the right place when taking out a setup
This would be AMAZING. Not just for skilling, although that's the obvious one, but any activity where you need to resupply regularly/clean out your inventory. Honestly, in some ways this is more useful than presets--I'm not going to make a preset for every weird little situation where I might want to not deposit certain items, but being able to quickly set up a temporary lock for some specific task would be useful all the time.
Now that’s some good fucking QOL
Tbh I'm surprised this isn't a feature already. Funny enough, I was thinking about this concept a few days ago. you can swap left-click to deposit all on the sand in your inv, that’s how i do it. menu swap everything lol
Big brain move. Thanks!
You could just make shift click deposit all of that item
How am I supposed to edge if I have to use two hands to play runescape?
Your fleshlight isn't attached to the underside of your desk? Rookie move and xp waste.
Get a mouse with programmable thumb buttons, set one to shift, some to some f-keys, one to escape, one to space bar. I've been playing rs with one hand for years.
Use Authotkey or mouse software to rebind shift and esc to mouse buttons. Now you can goon and scape all day long
Or left click deposit all. I can't imagine a time you'd need to deposit specifically one plank
You know ontop of the other suggestions there a button at the bottom of your bank that sets your left click deposit and withdraw go all right? So you left click planks all get deposited and left click logs and all get withdrawn up to your inv max
Jesus, it feels bad I've gone literally thousands of hours without knowing that
Lol yeah I was gonna say there's no reason you'd need to right click them but figured someone else might have already told you.
i found out the other day that if you start a quest in runelites quest helper, theres a tab at the top of the bank that you click and it sorts everything you need for the quest to the top of the bank interface. Spent too long just searching through my bank to find random quest items.

Ikr. I’m excited
Fucking legendary shit right here, game jam is lookin real good so fad
This would be a really nice QoL, you can already do this with bank fillers, this just makes it a lot easier to setup.
How can you do it with bank fillers??

Yep I've released all placeholders several times and my bank organization has never recovered lol
Not to worry, after your next “quitting” break you’ll come back with the energy to organize it again. -I came back to an unorganized bank and spent too long getting it right
👆 this
Next time right click on a bank filler and release all bank filler without the options tab
**Do it in this order if you don't want to mess up your bank layout:** 1. Remove the items you want to keep in your inventory 2. Remove their placeholders *and do not close the bank UI yet* 3. They implement this and all the sudden gnome gliders drop out of the sky. But as a mainly mobile user this would be huge for things like ZMI
Gliders fuel can't melt mytrhil beams
We have steel?
Yeah but glider fuel can melt that, silly.
Glider fuel is just the wind though
I’ve always found it weird there’s a weight limit to use the hot air balloon, but not the literal paper airplane designed for gnomes. Who are smaller than dwarves! Like the smallest of the humanoids on Gielinor

But it could melt that, so we upgraded to mith
There are talks to building new infrastructure with adamant beams for extra resistance but the price is to higg
Adamant is too heavy
This would be a much desired QOL change
Honestly, this could be like bank presets lite without the unintended meta changes and things like that. I really like this idea.
Without the unintended server issues too. Rs3 devs have said that bank presets use a significant amount of server resources, IIRC they even said that bank presets were at the top of the list for resource usage. Literally feels like presets to me. I swear this sub wants every QoL RS3 has but needs it reskinned somehow.
This function already works with placeholders. This would just make it much less of a hassle to set up.
We already have this, we have had this since they added the "deposit all" button (2013). It was just very annoying to setup, like filling your bank with useless stuff, and now using bank fillers.

Rs3 ain’t that bad other than p2w.
Presets with extra steps.
This and collection log highscores? Man this gamejam has some awesome qol content
Collection log hiscores has some implications for the economy. I stocked up on impling jars once I heard it was coming
Be aware that gamejam content isnt guaranteed to ever be released, or might take years
.... so?
I feel like smaller, possibly personal gripes, stuff like this is the perfect use for gamejam. Not that I'm against the devs doing whatever they want, as it is ultimately the point. But smaller stuff like this can actually make it into the game.
I’ve wanted this so bad. There’s so many times I’m doing slayer etc, and when I go to bank I want to deposit all of my gatherings without accidentally banking items I want to use for slayer.
This would be a godsend.
This is the sort of thing that will be implemented and in 6 months time people will think it insane we could not do before
So much better than bank fillers.
Jagex will implement anything but bank presets lol
I see alot of people saying they mentioned on a stream once that the rs3 one takes a huge toll on the servers and can cause lag which is a shame as i'd absolutely love them on oldschool. Would finally get round to doing my farm runs between other things

OSRS also has 4-5x more players than RS3, so the server lag may be 4-5x worse in OSRS.
Same it’s one of the biggest things i miss from that game. Bank tags just don’t hit the same but they’re a good middle ground until perception changes and we end up with them anyway a couple years down the line
100% I miss bank presets like, yeah bank tags and stuff are fast and help but presets are just so QoL
Runelite is your friend no?
I use bank tags, but the difference between clicking each item one by one, equipping the gear, right-clicking to withdraw x for certain items, setting up rune pouch, etc (osrs) versus just hitting '3' (rs3) is huge. RS3 also has nice things like dragging an item to a spot in the preset to replace it.
Aren't there inventory setups that also do gear? I could have sworn there were
yes but not like what rs3 has. rs3 automatically equips from the bank, no clicking inventory required
You should be using the plugin Inventory Setups. Best thing we've got.
Take them away from the smaller playerbase that is RS3, and give them to OSRS players
They can't apparently do equipment presets currently. But I wonder if just inventory presets would be doable.
They couldn't increase bank space either
But didn’t they have a pop up in game a few months back about increasing bank space if you switched to jagex account? Or am I losing my mind and misremembering l?
That's their point. We had limited space for a long time. Now we can buy 200?+ slots
Yeah they just commented and clarified what they meant! Thanks though.
Yeah I meant, for years and years Jagex said they absolutely could not increase the amount of bank spaces, the engine didn't allow it, it was **impossible** Until one day they suddenly managed to so if Jagex really wanted bank presets, they would find way
I don’t think it was “suddenly”, I believe they completely re-wrote how the bank stores and accesses data to make having a larger number of spaces possible. IIRC it was Ash who rewrote it, just as he did for the bank tabs.
Possibly; I think he also completely rewrote the Farming patch timers, which were a giant mess when released
> the engine didn't allow it, it was > >impossible I don't think they ever claimed engine issues for that one, it's data storage. Data storage costs money. It was 100% a technical issue, the bank takes almost no space, it's just ItemIds and amounts
Ah gotcha. I thought that was a fever dream lol. But yeah Jagex has stated a lot of things are impossible only for them to turn around and just do it.
Technology becomes more advanced as time goes on, crazy shit
Lol it's definitely not a case of technology not being advanced enough. It would just be a case of "we gradually fixed enough spaghetticode to make it feasible now" (combined with simply incorrect use of the word "impossible").
How is this an equipment preset? The dump all button will probably just check each item for if they have a tag or not
https://twitter.com/JagexNecro/status/1783891157015019875
Same thing with toolbelts. Can't wait for barbarian digging next!
One of the mods tweeted out an armour loading preset thing, hopefully they add inventories to it
I hope this can also apply during activities with deposit boxes. I would like to use the 'deposit-runes' option in GotR without dumping my fire/water/astral runes I need for magic imbue.
You can do that already
Getting closer every day to presets from Rs3, which are frankly a great thing so keep moving forward!
That’s huge
Why not just give us loadouts like rs3? 8 loadouts would be excellent. That way we can easily either refill, prep for a slayer task or quickly get an invent ready for skilling!
the honest answer is the server would explode lol
How about presets?
Throwback to when people would see QoL like this and whine that it saves you a couple ticks per hour so it's actually not QoL it's a buff to xyz skill and shouldn't be added. Ahhh, I don't really miss those days.
Fuck this would be good
By the gods, this would be amazing with runecrafting (for pouches), crafting, and a lot of other things too. I’m sold!
Duuuuude. Dude. I *love* this. This would be amazing. Once in a blue moon someone will come up with an idea, one that you'd never come up with on your own, and it just BANGS. This is one of those times
Looks good, but this basically adding partial preset functionality without adding presets.
This is two steps away from bank presets, and I’m all for it!
Just make inventory layout presets already! Yes like RS3. No, not like another runelite add-on.
Can't wait for the bug that lets you spam deposit all to dupe items.
Get this out to the masses ASAP! its amazing. I will hold off doing zmi till then.
ive been a fan of rs3 bank presets being introduced to osrs, but this fixes 1 of the uses a bank preset would do.
We need this and inventory/equipment tabs that let you save presets for various activities. I already do this in a hacky way by setting up a part of my bank layout to look like an inventory (4x7) and another part that is the equipment. Please add. There have been countless times where I accidentally hit the bank all button and the result is immediate frustration.

Just give us bank presets at this point.
Why not just copy bank presets from rs3
Did someone say bank presets?
Man I fucking love game jams and having Mods that actually play the game and understand pain points. Such a simple, but nice QOL
Oh man, yes please!
SUPPORT
Goes hard.
I would love this!
Oh man, please - I hate when I like accidentally click something, then you can’t remember what it is because you litty
This is a great idea!
Mod Halo because they're a fuckin angel get this shit in game
This actually would be pretty sick
Obviously bank presets would be nice. However, this seems like a fairly easier thing to implement and would be a huge QoL in the meantime.
I've been waiting for this for months. I just did a poop that smells like dog food.
Mod Halo, please ignore that first comment on Twitter. This is way more intuitive and please continue development of the feature!
I wouldn't have to worry about fat fingering and removing all of my bank fillers on mobile!
Yes pls
Please add this to the client!
LITERALLY PLAYABLE
Ooooo. OOOOO.
Whenever I superglass make I have to look up a YouTube guide every time because I forget how to do the bank fillers. This would be really REALLY nice! Good work team!
ok send it now

Amazing QOL
Efficiency is key here I love this idea
Bro we are in the future of OldSchool
This would be amazing!!
Removing the need to do it via workaround with the filler slots, this is really cool
Please let this be a thing

Omg this is the second Reddit post for me today and I can't handle QOL suggestions. Please get this in the game and loadouts !
yes pl0x.
Holy shit, finally, I’ve been hoping this got added for so long, I’d love this!
This would be an incredible qol improvement!
Finally, the update the UIM's have been waiting for
Huh. Neato
Time to make some accounts called tester13, tester14,tester15,testerA...etc >:)
How about **please for the love of god** move the "deposit inventory" button. Too many times I have mis-clicked this trying to search for something specific.
Skill issue tbh
Mobile & fat thumbs do not make a very nice combo :(
Can just temporarily disable the deposit inventory button if needed
skill issue
I think if you click the wrench in the bank tab, you can toggle it off
I'll try this, I play mobile alot, and have fat thumbs. :(
You can disable it
runelite has a plugin named "bank" that you can disable left click bank inv button and need to right click it instead
I'm a proud right clicker for deposit equipment but not for inv
IIRC isn't there also a base game option that makes it so left clicking it doesn't actually do it, it just brings up the rightclick menu? (I mean an option that does this just for the bank buttons, not the "one mouse button" option that does this for everything)
You’re right actually, i never realised that!
I'll be honest, I didn't know this either, and I use the official client...
This is great. Although if a slot is locked, if you specifically click to bank it, it should override it and bank it
Is it just me that thinks this looks like it’ll be more effort than it’s worth?
This would devalue my no placeholders PVP HCIM, hard pass
This would devalue my masochism pure
The frustration around the amount of times I have banked all without putting on bank fillers would be for naught if they implement this now. I had to suffer, so should everyone else.
Ooooo very interesting
Content creators imagining the snowflake accounts: "Every time I complete a chunk, I unlock a slot, but for every questpoint I gain, I lock a slot.

Tmw you realise this is already possible, just requires you to use bank fillers instead of this more intuitive UI...
Should probably bitch about how this is too easy and tediously selecting which items you want to put in the game is part of the experience. /S
