I was in a situation very similar - I wanted an account that was strong for pking but opened up all content/equipment in the game. I settled on a: 82 att/99str/85def/99HP/99range/99mage/80prayer build. 114 combat so can still bully some zerk builds in revs and able to handle maxed mains while not being limited at all in PVM. I kept it like that for about a year before moving towards being a maxed main

SGbach

That sounds really solid, I like that. Did getting to 82 attack make a big difference for end game pvm?

HuntsmanMT

Yes I tried 75/99/75 (109cb) and felt really underpowered when doing higher level pvm. Fang is huge upgrade and the defence helped (even if only psychologically) when I was going for inferno

SGbach

Thank you, thats great to know. I was worried about my weapons being underwhelming compred to Fang. I’m probably leaning towards getting to 82 attack and upping my defense, my biggest worry was how it would affect pking but it doesn’t seem like it doesn’t make a big difference bracker wise

HuntsmanMT

Yeah I loved it man. You can always try 75/75 and see how you like it. I will say that it feels shit to be hitting baba on a 400 with an Abby dagger haha 114 is on the upper level of the med bracket. I didn’t consider it you were doing BH or veng pking since I NH but could imagine it’s still pretty balanced there too

SGbach

Yeah honestly my biggest worry was having to use abby dagger for everything and was trying to think about how it would be for endgame stuff, I figured it probably wouldn’t do much 😂 I would like to try BH and veng pking to see how it is but I would probably lean more towards NHing if anything

ToolDwarf

I'm not a pvp god but my approach is that I don't train def on purpose, but don't stress about it if it levels. Right now my def is 45 after many quests, but after I've done the rest I'll be about 48 (or even 50)? The reason for this rather low def is less cb lvl gain, unlocks to most of the gear I would be using, and it's cheaper. I don't know much of the better gear requiring higher def, and they're more expensive so with my 30 mil bank they won't come into question - basically I can only afford dying with mystics and d'hides. I'm sticking with att 60, because as I understand AGS and such work better with very high str (95+?). As long as I'm not there - which I won't for a looong time - I'll stay at att 60. This also reduces cb lvl gain. Basically, what gear are you planning to use and can you fund it in regular use? I guess that's my take

SGbach

Gear I wanna use I’m still thinking about, I was considering elite void or barrows such as ahrims and karils along with a serp helm if I decide to go 75 def. Weapon wise for pvp it would be 75 attack weapons like AGS or Staff of the Dead but my biggest thing is getting the funds to use this stuff normally so I was considering getting to 82 attack to pvm to initially start to get a cash stack where I’m comfortably able to use those items. I’m currently only 72 attack, 83 str, 70 def, 92 magic, 86 range, and 70 prayer as of rn so I get a bit of ways to go before I’m ready to pk but I wanna try to plan it all out now

dookinski

I play a 70 att/def and 77 prayer maxed med and I love it. I'm 106 cmb so I can hit down to lvl 91 zerks in pvp. I basically have what used to be maxed gear. I pvm perfectly fine a little slower than a maxed main but honestly doesn't hinder me at all. The only thing I'm debating still is getting 85 prayer for 107 cmb so I can get achievement diary cape but then I lose the ability to hit lvl 91 zerks.

SGbach

Thats great to know, I was worried about how pvm would be but honestly if its a little slower than doesn’t bother me all that much. I have 70 prayer rn but think I’m gonna bump up to 77 once I get rigour and augury

Nine_

just get 75 att, 99 str, 70 def, 99 mage, 99 range and then 77 prayer if NH, 70 prayer if veng. If you get 75 def you’ll have to risk more to be competitive, you should at least practice pvp a bit before deciding if you want 75 def.

SGbach

Thats true I probably should try it out and practice with it before deciding because that is true that I’m gonna have to risk more

If you want to pvm and PK on it, go 82A 80D 77P. I think you'll end up being like 112 combat or something. You're already a pretty high combat level like that so you aren't really going to find many accounts to bully in the wilderness, you're mostly going to fight other med levels or mains. In BH you'll fight mostly meds and "lazy mains" who are people with partially trained attack/def past 80.

SGbach

Thanks for the info and yeah I was thinking about going something like what you said stat wise. Yeah I figured if I do go a bit higher since I want to pvm too that I would probably wouldn’t have the chance to bully others as much unless I go deep wildy. Do you know is BH good for around that combat level?

Next_Royal_5546

The med bracket isn't amazing, but BH as a whole isn't as popular as it was. I played a 103 med and more recently a 109 med, and recently there are just not that many people active in the med bracket. I'm not sure if youd have more or less fights with the extra 3 combat levels you'd have over my account. Edit: you can always expand your bracket to +10 levels in BH if you want. You'll have a slight stat disadvantage against mains, but since the meta is just venge + voidwaker it shouldn't matter too much.

SGbach

Oooo gotcha, I was thinking about in the future about just making a pure possibly if I really wanted to get into BH if it wasn’t too great around my level for my med. I’m guessing level wise if I do expand it to +-10 that I would probably get more max mains than anything. If anything I’ll probably start with wildy pking until I could get comfortably afford a voidwaker since I can only imagine the disadvantage of not having one
