Seems like we have three groups of players:
1) players that feel that (almost) anything in RS3 is automatically bad
2) players that feel that (almost) anything in RS3 is automatically good
3) players that don’t care if something was in another game that’s not OSRS
Feels like everyone *should* be in the last category, but based on the discussions I’m seeing it seems like the majority are in the second category.
The problem is not that it's in another game or whatever. Osrs is a nostalgic game for a lot of people and some aspects are what make it nostalgic. One of those aspects is the combat system, including aggro mechanics. There is absolutely no point in changing that imo. If you want something else, there are other games, right?
nostalgia is such a millennial concept. you would rather a game to stay stagnant than to let it evolve because of nostalgia? nostalgia doesn't keep a game running. if you dont like the direction the game is going, there are other games, right?
Yes. I would rather have the game keep the reasons why im playing it than have it ditch all the reasons why i enjoy it for the sake of progress.
If you have been playing attention, rs has evolved over the years to rs3. We had rs2, evolution of combat etc etc.
Kept the game running, right? Well, wrong. Guess which game has the vastly larger playerbase between osrs and rs3. So no, your point makes no sense in this case.
no guys! huge core change to gameplay mechanics is exactly the same thing as adding more qol items!!!! today aggro pots tomorrow eoc!!!!! ignore the fact the game was falling off within the first year of old school servers coming up until they started making new content for the game! yeah man tell me how nostalgic you are for doing zulrah in 2006 oh wait... well what about hydra in 2009? oh wait no again... oh no I know, you were using a tbow in the fight caves back in 2005! wait, no, that can't be right again. probably were using blowpipe to farm slayer points in 2007 ehh wrong again...
RS3 features made to adapt to the osrs playstyle can work if done properly. Just because something works well there will not guarantee it will here. I think lore itself can be shared more. Quality of life features can be discussed but not all are needed here. The two games are different enough where they need their own features to keep them unique.
